ALISON’S POV
—I didn’t know where to go and made myself home in Miles’ room. I found all sorts of female things and decided to put it into a box, knowing…well hoping that it’s his mate’s.It’s late and I have not seen or heard from Miles since we got married…How stupid was I to take this seriously? I wore a white dress and he came dressed casually, disrespecting everything the elders had arranged, yet it seemed that elder Maddi had fallen into his trap of guilt.I was stunned that he got away with it, but playing the dead mate card was smart. I start to unpack my suitcase when the door flies open, the handle hitting the wall with a thud and I turn, jolting as a bolt of lightning thunders through the sky and I stare at Miles, drenched in rain water.“What the hell are you doing in here?” His eyes light up in a bright light, looking like a ring light flashing in his orbs. It’s the most beautiful thing I have ever seen…“I am your mate.” I shrug and he strides forward, each step slow and haunting as his gaze doesn’t drag away from me.“You. Are. Not. My. Mate.” His lips twitches up into a snarl, making my heart thunder against my chest.“Unfortunately I am.” I deadpan and he looses it, his head twitches to the side as he snarls and he closes the distance between us. He smacks my clothes out of my hand and his fingers wrap around my throat firmly, squeezing the sides as he walks me back into the wall.“I will not have you come in here and taint my room with your horrendous smell and germs.” His eyes flick to his hand around my throat and his eyes flick back to their normal dark blue color before he snatches his hand away from me as if I had burned him.My eyes flick between him, his cold and dangerous aura making me wish that a hole could appear behind me and swallow me into the abyss.“Get out of here.” He steps back, turning around and he marches into the bathroom without another word.Every fibre of my body is telling me to leave his room, but there’s this one part…this one curious part wondering what would happen if I stayed and it wins.I choose to ignore his threat and stay in his room, only to be startled with a life threatening growl as he steps out of the bathroom.“Did I not tell you to leave?” He snarls, his entire face contorting with a disgusted expression.“I have nowhere else to go. Can’t you just back off?”I turn to fold my shirt and once I place it on the rack in the open closet meant for me, he’s behind me.I turn, my entire body immediately turns cold and I step back as he’s so close that I start to shake.“I said get out.” He reaches behind me and starts to pull my clothes out of closet, tossing it to the floor in a heaped up pile.I shove him back, glaring at him. “I am your mate! Don’t treat me like this.” I beg and he begins to laugh…“You..” he scoffs, “You’ll never be my mate.” He seethes before turning his back to me.“I give you two minutes and then I will attack you until every last part of you is out of here.” His eyes are bright, yet gloomy at the same time.“I don’t believe that.” I shrug his threat off. He might be crazy, but not enough to risk his title and place in his own pack.“You’re just begging for attention.” He rolls his icy orbs.“I’m not.” I grit out, “But you are.” He steps closer, inhaling a deep breath through his nose.“You smell like a virgin.”I scoff at his immature comment, of course a man of his age would say that, after all, he’s just a spoiled boy deep inside.“You can’t even deny it.” He grins at me and my heart flutters at the sight of his dimple. He’s a genuinely handsome man. His dark hair suits his tanned skin, the way his blue eyes sparkle when the light hits it right makes my heart race. His nose fits his face perfectly, his jaw is sharp enough to cut and the way he smiles…not that he has ever smiled at me before, but I have noticed the rare moments.“Because I am not that low to discuss my sexual interactions.” I sneer at him with disgust. “You are doing it right now.” He shrugs with a devilish glaze in his eyes.“Fine, do you want to talk? I am not a virgin, I had hot sweaty sex when I was in my last year of high school.” I deadpan, totally lying straight through my teeth.“Hot sweaty sex?” He snorts, smiling brightly and that’s the smile that has my panties soaking through, “You’re such a Mary.” He teases me.“A Mary? Is this the ninety eighty century?” I glare at him. “I can smell you.” His eyes narrow on me. “Congratulations on your sense of smell.” I pat his shoulder and he swats my hand away, “Don’t ever touch me, little Mary.” He sneers, but smiles and I bet that could only be for the new nickname he gave me.It’s no where near my name, but I bet he’s one of those people who sticks to something so stupid.“You know what? Perhaps I should just leave…since you want to lose your pack.” I shrug and his hand tightly wraps around my throat before shoving me into the closet door. “This is my pack, no one- I mean no one, can take it from me.” , “Except the elders.” I shrug, his grip tightens around my throat, “I will kill them and then kill you.” He grits out and something in his eyes just spark fire as he steps back, dragging his hand through his hair, making a mess of his perfect raven hair.“You know you can’t kill an elder.” I point out as I clear my dry throat. He really seems determined to try it though. He turns with a low growl, “Watch me.” He grits out, “But won’t I be dead?” I tease him, “Fine, I will kill you last.” He grits out, “Before everyone else or after? Because if you kill an elder…” I cross my arms over my chest, “Then you’ll have to kill your parents…and then the rest of the pack because no one will stand behind you.”He lets out a low growl, that grows louder by each second and he snaps, shifting in the middle of the room, his large black wolf hovering over me, snarling down and I don’t even realize that I have dropped to the floor.I sit against the closet door, wanting to disappear into it, but I can’t move any further away than I am.His wolf snaps and growls at me and before I could speak, he jumps through the large glass window, the shattering glass falling to the floor in pieces.I let out a shaky breath and for one split second, I thought that he was going to kill me right here at this very moment.I tense when the door flies open and Marina appears in the room, her green eyes frantically flicking between the broken window and me before she comes over, “What the hell happened?” She asks as she lowers to her haunches in front of me.“Miles and I had a…disagreement.” I mutter, “That’s all.” I shrug. She holds out her hand and I take it.She helps me up , brushing my hair behind my shoulders, “My sweet dear, it’s best not to anger him these days…he’s still very angry.” She advises and the worst part is, I know that.I know that he’s hurting, but when he starts to treat me like trash, I can’t help but fight back.I am not a weakling, I am strong and confident.ALISON’S POV—Marina has been very kind and settled me in the room next to Miles’, which is very awkward because it’s just a damn wall separating us.Marina helps me put my clothes and things away.“Do you want to decorate the room dear?” Marina offers and that offer alone makes me realize that I will forever live in this room, until the very last day of my life.“Uh, sure.” I mutter as I awkwardly fold the last shirt before I stack it on the rest. “Oh great! Well if you’re done, come downstairs and we’ll go to the supply store for colour samples and ideas!” She beams, sounding very excited.I hum, nodding as I begin to pack my underwear into the shelves and she leaves me to do the rest.I smile at the thought of her wanting to help me, my mother was never as kind, the only time she was, was when guests would come around and that was the only time I was allowed to sit on her lap, hold her hand and the only time she gave me a kiss, not multiple, only one each time. She wanted sons, not
MILES’S POV—I’ve never thought the day would come that I would find the love of my life and then lose her a month later…Emily, my mate…she had the purest brown orbs that soaked you in, filled your life with sweet memories and more. Her dark brown locks use to fall freely around her face, her petite body easily fitted my arms because she was made for me.She had the kindest heart, fuck…She even made me kinder than what I was, but it’s all broken and destroyed into tiny pieces, pieces I could never get back and she will always be my entire heart.A knock on my door has my groaning audibly, my teeth baring as I run my hand up and down my face.“What?” I snap, my tone harsh and my heart cold, just like when I buried my mate in the woods two weeks ago in a spot meant for me when I die, but I gave it up, because she will always be my entire life. She deserves the best spot.“I’m coming in.” My mother’s fear tainted voice comes from my door and I sit up, my hooded gaze looking at her as s
MILES’ POV—Walking into the house, I slam the door behind me, my hands itching just to punch something or someone.“Miles Armani!” My mother’s annoying screech comes from the living room and I make my way there, plopping down on the couch across them.I put my feet up on the coffee table, resting my hands behind my head.“How can I assist you?” I tease in a honorable manner. “Drop the act, I already heard what you did.” She drops her stack of papers on her lap, her one knee crossed over the other, her gaze hooded, anger radiating off her.I tut, clicking my tongue, “What did you expect from me?” I raise a brow, “That I accept her and swoon over her bleached hair?” My mother’s toes bounce up and down, her finger tapping against the paper stack beneath her hand.“I at least thought you’d have the courtesy to be polite.” She grits out, her jaw ticking with annoyance.“Courtesy?” I snort, “Like you had the courtesy to wait before arranging a marriage for me?” I cock my head and I pull
