Chapter 7

Chantelle's idiocy delighted me. That woman foolishly handed me what I wanted on a platter. I retreated further into the corner while cowering in fear. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out.

When the elevator doors slid open, Chantelle proudly strutted out like a victor. I followed behind, placed the lunchbox on Andrew's table, and settled on the couch in silence.

It didn't take him long to notice my unusual behavior. He pulled me into a hug and rested his chin on my shoulder. He whispered, "Who's made my kitty cat upset?"

In the next moment, he panicked when he saw me tearing up. "What's wrong?"

Between my sobs, I told him about Chantelle's threats in the elevator.

Ashen-faced, he typed on his phone. His face clouded over even more when he received a text notification.

From the looks of it, he had requested the security footage. I cried until I was out of breath, saying, "I'm fine with anything because I love you. I'll stay with you even without an official status.
