Chapter Four

Jason's P.O.V. ......

Now.....

Zeus' words have been repeating themselves in my head over and over again for a year. At first it drove me crazy. Venus is calm and level headed. She always kept to herself. She wasn't like most girls. But I knew how stubborn she could be when her mind was set on something. I also knew there was no way Alex would allow her to be that far away from him for a year. But we also didn't want our mate unhappy and to resent us. Two days after her 17th birthday I sat down and talked with her parents and Zeus. We had all agreed that I could go with her for six months. But then I would have to return to start my beta duties. Zeus was to take over as alpha this year but for the sake of Venus and my sanity, Zeus and his parents agreed to put it off for one more year.

"Hey, Jason you up man?" Zeus called to me through the mind link.

"Yes. I just woke up." I answered back. 

" Well you need to stay out of Venus' way until this evening. She threw a huge fit this morning. She is not happy about tonight and tried to get out of going to the Bonfire."

" Wait, what?"

"She is set on not finding her mate. She will not give up this trip. Dad and mom got her calmed down, but she is still dead set on not being stopped."

"But I'm not going to stop her. I'm packed and my ticket is bought.."

"But she doesn't know this. Just slip out of the house as quickly as possible and stay away until tonight." At that Zeus cut the mind link and everything was quite.

THAT NIGHT....

I smelt her before I saw her. That intoxicating mix of crisp apples and fresh rain hit me like a breath of fresh air. My wolf started dancing inside. 

"Mate is here. It's time go to her. There is no way she will reject us the moment we tell her everything we have been planning." Alex purred in my mind.

"Zeus she is here. Can I go now?" I asked like a child.

"Take these. You know they are her favorite." Zeus hands me a plate of ribs with a look that says good luck.

I take the plate and look for Venus in the crowd. She is standing with her back to me about 50 yards away. 

  "Hey there princess, I've got a plate full of ribs with your name on it." I say sweetly.

  She slowly turns around and those gorgeous silver eyes pierce through my soul.

   "Oh, thank you Jason. I was actually getting ready to head that way. I'm starving. I haven't had a chance to eat all day. Mom has kept me busy." She says to me while taking a huge bit out of a rib.

  " Jason, she isn't reacting." Alex wines in my head.

   "So miss birthday girl, have you sensed your mate yet?" I ask hoping her not saying anything is just her not sensing me just yet. I knew as soon as she felt it she wouldn't be able to hide it.

  " No, not yet. Thank the goddess. I have big plans starting tomorrow. Thank you for the plate of ribs. I'm going to make the rounds and get to bed early. I have to be to the airport by 4am. I have a 6am flight. So if I don't see you later, I'll see you in a year." She says to me quickly as she turns and starts walking away. 

 I stand there frozen. Trying to figure out what just happened. 

   "Jason? She didn't feel the pull?" Alex whined in my head.

   "Alex are we sure it's her?" I asked him

    "It's her I promise. The pull of the bond is undeniable. I even tried talking to her wolf. There wasn't anything there. At first I thought maybe she just didn't feel it but, there was a wall there." 

    "What do you mean a wall?"

     " I mean I couldn't even sense her wolf. I've always been able to feel her wolf. But just now if was as if her wolf was locked in a safe covered in concrete. I think they are some how blocking the pull." Alex says confused and hurt

      "So she was able to somehow block the pull of the mate bond. Do you think she even knows it's me?" I ask Alex.

      "I can't tell you if she does or not. I'm going to say no. I feel like something higher is blocking the bond pull." Alex replies sadly

   " So man how did it go?" I feel a hand grasp my shoulder 

    "Zeus she didn't even know I'm her mate. She looked at and talked to me like she always does." I say.

     "Wait, what? I don't understand. Are you sure she is your mate?" Zeus asks me with a confused look.

    "Yes I'm 100% sure it's her. Alex says he feels like some higher power is blocking her mate pull. We aren't even sure if she knows I'm her mate." 

 

      "Well maybe it's best you let her go then for the year. Maybe when she gets back she will be able to feel you."

       "Zeus you know damn well I can't do that. If she leaves me for a year I'm going to go crazy. What if something happens and I'm not there to protect her? What if she finds another...." I was cut off by a loud growl in my head.

    "MINE!!!!" growls Alex.

  

       "I don't know what to tell you Jason. Let's wait to discuss this with my parents after the bonfire. Maybe they can give us some insight. " Zeus says quickly.

 Wait an entire year? There is no way in hell that's happening. She can't be that far away from us for a year. Anything could happen. At that moment I make up my mind. I know exactly what I'm going to do I just need to run it pass Zeus, the Alpha, and Luna.

VENUS P.O.V........

   He just stood there lost in thought and confusion as I walked away. A little part of me felt awful. But after hearing what the moon goddess said I knew it was the right thing.  

Who and what I am. Those words kept repeating in my brain over and over again. Not because I'm surprised but because I knew there was more to me. I have always felt like I was ment to do something of a higher purpose. That was the reason I was traveling for a year.  I knew my journey and answers would start in Greece. From there I had no idea. I somehow knew I would be led in the direction I needed. It was as if something or someone had been guiding me and would continue to guide me. I had a year to find answers and I was going to find them.
