Making Love With Heath and Talen

Havermouth, Present Time

Heath backed her into the bedroom and closed the door behind him. “I just…” He said against her lips. “I just… I want to… make love…” (make love, not f-k, but actually make love, like we did, that time on the balcony…)

She melted at the memory, at the realization that what she had felt in that time had been shared and was the reason for the intensity of that encounter.

“Should I leave?” Talen asked. He amused to find himself trapped.

“No,” Heath said immediately, glancing up and laughing. “No.” (This involves you too.)

“Well, then,” Talen stepped forward. “Little demon, undress, please. I will help Heath out of his clothes.” He turned Heath towards him and stroked his hands down Heath’s torso as he reached for the hem of Heath’s t-shirt. “I am… proud of you,” Talen murmured into Heath’s ear as he began to draw the fabric up, his knuckles grazing Heath’s skin.

Heath lifted his arms complicitly. As Talen cast the t-shirt over the chair behind him, Aislen’s daddy

Aislen was certain that she could hear Rhett’s voice, and then Cameron’s, and that almost brought her to her knees. “Hello?” She said again. “Aislen,” it was Heath. There was static on the line. “Are you there? F-k this,” he said with an irritated sigh. “I’m here, I here,” she garbled out hastily. “Heath - ” “The signal is bad tonight,” he told her, interrupting. “I can’t move from this spot, or I will lose it, so you’re just going to have put up with the background noise.” “Heath,” she fought back tears, pressing her hand to her mouth. “I… Well, I am…” Bianca made a small noise of sympathy and reached out, placing her hand on Aislen’s back. (Poor thing. What sort of jerk-off would…) “Aislen, you need to stop calling the Edisons,” he said tightly. “You’re causing problems. I can’t believe that you can cause problems and not eve

Havermouth, Present Time“For some reason I had thought we’d be going to the prison,” Aislen commented as June parked in the undercroft parking beneath the footprint of a building just off the main street of Rideten’s business district. It felt odd to be back in Rideten. She vaguely knew that the prison was on the outskirts of the city, but she had never had reason to know its precise location. “This isn’t very prison like.”“No. Sometimes they hold it at the prison, but sometimes here. Guy always gets his hopes up when it’s here,” June said fretfully touching up her lipstick in the rear-view mirror. “He thinks that when it’s here, they’re seriously considering releasing him. They put him under suicide watch after the last hearing here, he got so depressed.”“Well, lets hope today is good news,” Aislen said with more confidence than she felt as they got out of the car and crossed to the stairs.“It has to be,” June said with the fervency of a zealot. In the front entrance, they passed

Rideten, Five Year BeforeAislen parked down the street as the on-street parking was already occupied directly outside of Stella’s house and walked the distance. Even as she approached the hedge, she could hear voices chanting in harmony. The gardens were busy with women weaving through the rows of herbs and the rose beds taking clippings, dressed in flowing dresses and flower crowns. Aislen looked down at her black dress and felt immediately out of the place. White and the colours of nature were predominant amongst the other women.“Ah, there you are,” Stella greeted her warmly as she stepped onto the porch. She was weaving flower crowns and garlands with two other women, one of whom she recognized as the witch who had performed the sage cleansing the night before. “This is Juniper, and you will remember Daisy? This is Aislen.”Daisy smiled and examined the basket of flower crowns. “Which one…” she murmured. “Ah, this one for you, I think. Rue to purify, lavender to calm, yarrow for

It feels like we’re going really fast. I’ve only been in the prison transport to and from hearings over the last five years, remember, and there isn’t a view out of them. I forgot what it looks like for things to whizz past you so fast.” “I’m doing five kilometers under the speed limit, Guy,” June told him with more patience that Aislen would have. “If I go any slower, the cars behind me are going to go nuts.” “I don’t know what I expected about being released,” he admitted, bracing his palms against the dash as if physically trying to slow the car. “Maybe something more formal than sign here, here’s your stuff, off you go.” “You have to check in with your parole officer tomorrow, and then start work, so I guess that will be more formal. But for now, let’s just get you home, and

  • The Pack's Secret Keeper   Doing It Alone

Havermouth, Five Years BeforeThe OBGYN doctor’s surgery was inside of a residential house that had been converted in an effort to appear welcoming and homely for its patients. Aislen, however, felt anything but welcome or at home. She sat uncomfortably in the waiting room, hiding behind a magazine. It was Aislen’s third visit, and she had decided that the feeling that she was in the wrong place was going to persist throughout her pregnancy. The adoption agency had been recommended to her through the coven, and the OBYGYN was connected to the agency. She knew that it wasn’t the surgery’s fault that she felt like she did - they were, in fact, very nice to her – it was her own relationship to her pregnancy that was to blame, and her obsession with what the other patients waiting to be seen made of the black clad and very obviously alone teenager amongst them. She could use her telepathy to find out – she was beginning to develop some control, both in choosing to hear, and, more often, n

The library will be jammed packed, and there will be a bottle nose at the rear door if they try to flee…” She saw it so clearly, as she had in the library on a similar rainy day five years before. “They’re sitting ducks.” She ran out of the office and into the rain, along the walkways towards the library building, the school grounds so familiar and yet with small changes – a new mural on a wall, different posters on another, fresh paint on the outside tables near the grassy hill where the Triquetra, the jocks and the cheerleaders had liked to sit… There was a boy on the ground in front of her, trying to drag himself off the pavement, a trail of blood showing his passage. “Help!” He was wide eyed and panicked. “Help m

Havermouth, Four and a Half Years Before** Trigger warning – this chapter features pregnancy loss. **In the quiet, Aislen could hear the small settling movement of the house, the draft where old joins met imperfectly, the creak of boards, and the groan of joists. There was the buzz of the refrigerator in the kitchen, and the drip of water into the sink, the tick of a small insect body hitting glass as a blowfly trapped indoors sought freedom. She breathed in and released the breath slowly, trying to settle into the peaceful oblivion beyond the small sounds and movements. Daisy sat opposite to her, and Aislen imagined that she could feel the air warmed by body heat, that she could feel the shift in the air from Daisy’s breath. She focused on the bubble around herself and that around Daisy, holding both in place as she stretched her hands out to meet Daisy’s. No, Talen was there…“She’s coming around,” the woman’s voice was vaguely familiar.“Judith,” Aislen tried to say, but realized there was something in her mouth. She panicked, her eyes flicking open and then closing against the painful glare and her hands lifting to her mouth. • The Pack's Secret Keeper   Hello Aislen

Havermouth, Present Time “We should talk about the river house,” Heath said as they dried off after the shower. She ignored him and concentrated on drying her hair. She didn’t want to talk about it. She had said all that she wanted to say on the topic, and if she said any more, she knew that it would just start another argument. “Aislen,” he sat on the bed in order to put on his shoes. “I know that…” “Heath,” she flicked her hair back. “Don’t. Just don’t. Rhett had a go at me yesterday about accepting that Havermouth is my home and that I’m not going back to Kabramatta, and you guys have raised several times going to stay at the river house. You can’t bully me into it, and you need to stop trying to do so.” His grey eyes met hers and she held them stubbornly refusing to back down. He nodded slowly. “We are your mates,” he said softly. She inhaled and released it slowly. “I love you,” she told him. “I love the three of you. I want to try to make something of this relationship. I a

He leaned over and kissed her cheek. “I have a client coming at nine,” he whispered. “I have to go set up.”“Too early.”“I know, but they work afternoons, and it will take a good three hours.”Talen wrapped an arm around her and drew her into the cup of his body. “Sleep some more, Morgana,” he murmured. “You need to rest in order to heal.”“Careful,” Cameron snickered suddenly and Aislen opened her eyes to see that Cameron had saved Rhett from falling over as he put on his jeans. “F-k man, you’re not a good morning person. One leg in each leg hole, right?” Cameron was already almost fully dressed, his shirt hanging open but his jeans and shoes on.“Need coffee before my brain will wake up fully,” Rhett replied.“For f-ksake,” He

The failure rate is too high. She has three werewolves and a vampire as her mates. If we can’t turn her, it is only logical that he will.”“And then what!” Rhett’s fury was such that the words were all but yelled. “We grow old, whilst she stays eternally young?”“Would you rather her grow old and die, when she has the option to be young and live forever?” Heath demanded. “We cannot give her that, but he can!”“What about kids?” Cameron asked. “If he turns her into a vampire, can she still have kids?”They fell into silence, their eyes flicking to Aislen and then away.“I can have kids,” she answered their unspoken question. “Bitch-faced Tabby Cat was speaking shit. Her clothing was rumpled, her eyes tired, and she clutched an empty coffee cup in one hand. “That is wonderful news. I’m Margaret,” she said to Aislen with a wide smile, her eyes filling with tears. “You must be Aislen Carter. You saved my son, Stephan’s life. My husband and I… We are just so grateful.”“Oh,” Aislen flushed, embarrassed by the teary gratitude. “It was nothing, really. Alone and vulnerable. And instead, he found her guarded by a giant of a vampire.“They are,” Talen replied, leaning a hip onto Aislen’s bed, a posture that was both confident and claiming. “We are alternating who stays with Aislen. They will be returning soon.”“Thank you for your kind thought,” Aislen said, barely keeping the sarcasm out of her tone. “But I’m not religious and you’ve made perfectly clear that you don’t enjoy my company.”“Now, Aislen,” Pastor Gale smiled patronizingly. “That’s simply not true.”It was unnerving how similar he looked to Heath, Aislen thought, considering that she reviled the m

Bless her daddy vampire, she thought fondly.“Okay, but be guided by your body and if it hurts, we will stop…”“I can carry her,” Cameron hovered anxiously as Aislen stood with the help of the nurses. “F-k…” His hands were already held out, wanting to push the nurses out of the way.“Boyfriend?” The nurse to Aislen’s left asked as they took a shuffling step towards the ensuite.“Yeah,” Aislen agreed.
