Danica's POV
It's been two days since Mating night and Bianca has been nothing but true to her words. She was going to spend those three days with me in this room, starved and completely bored out of our minds. Luckily, it wasn't as boring as I'd expected. We watched a few melodramas, laughed and blushed pathetically. We played games and decorated ourselves with different colors from the makeup kit she once got me. I even made a friend from the dating site she signed me up on and I didn't mind at all since my days and hours were numbered anyway. I managed to avoid her suspicions when I freaked out about her mate being my mate's Beta without having to let it slip that Alpha Alexander was my mate. Everything seemed to go smoothly but my agitation increased as the day slowly came to an end. One more day and I'll be getting a sacred wrath from the Alpha. "It's a few hours to my death day, Bianca. Do you think I could be hopeful seeing how Alpha Alexander hasn't come to find me?" I asked as I laid on my bed staring into the ceiling of my room while she was busy with her phone. "I'm thinking I could convince Blake that you're not that sort of person? He seemed close with the Alpha" she muttered with hopeful eyes but before I could respond, my door flung open to reveal Joey. "Bitchy McJoey. What do you want now?" Bianca growled and Joey rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Your attention is needed at the living room," she muttered, glaring lasers at me and I squinted. "I'm grounded for three days, Joey. If this is another scheme of yours to get me in trouble, you have failed sweetie" I told her calmly without moving an inch from my bed. "Why don't you rot in your room forever then?" She muttered and slammed the door as she walked away. "I think she's saying the truth" Bianca muttered and I nodded in affirmation. The scheming Joey would make sure I left my room before she leaves. I stood to leave for the living room and Bianca stood too, placing her two hands on my shoulders reassuringly. "I'm barging into that fucking living room if you're not back in twenty" she muttered and I smiled cutely, grateful for how much she looks after me. She almost reminds me of my mom. Only my mom doesn't have the crazy-Bianca edge to her personality. It took all my courage to show up at the living room and a frown immediately outlined my forehead as soon as my gaze settled on none other than Anabel. "Danica..." She called and my frown deepened at the emotion that glinted in her tone. I turned to face my dad who had a ridiculous smile on his face and then back to Anabel who looked like if she didn't do this, guilt would've consumed her. "She wanted to thank you for saving her life, Danica. I was just telling her how proud I was when you performed your saving magic" my father who had grounded me for two days without a single drop of water for the same reason muttered and I felt my eyes almost bulge out of their sockets. "I'm grounded for the same reason, remember?" I blurted in disbelief and I didn't miss the glare on his face, but I didn't care at this point. Nothing could be more painful than the repercussions of disregarding an Alpha's order. "We can talk in your room, Danica" Anabel's voice threw me back to reality and I immediately muttered a 'No' when I recalled how comfortable Bianca was in the same room my enemy wanted to talk. "You both can go talk in her room if that's what you want, Miss Anabel" My father muttered, completely ignoring my opinion. "No. We will, only if Danica agrees to it" Anabel muttered with a shake of her head as she looked up at me hopefully. What the hell is wrong with Anabel now? Did she plan on killing me off in my room without anyone finding out? "Fine! Let's go talk since it'll be the last time anyway" I gritted before turning to leave. 'If she thinks her wicked plan will work out because we'll be alone in the room, she's in for the biggest surprise of her life' I smirked as I led the way to my room without particularly looking back at her as she struggled to keep up with my pace. 'Typical princesa' I scoffed inwardly when she tumbled on her shoe along the way. She should thank her stars that she didn't fall flat to the ground because I would have laughed at her openly and she would do nothing about it. "Welcome to Danica's room, Anabel" I announced to let Bianca know that I had company and her hawk eyes almost made me jump as soon as I stepped into the room with Anabel right behind me. I mean, I expected her to hide or something but this crazed fellow just sat down like the goddess of laser glares expecting to jump on her prey; Anabel. "Oh my god!" Anabel shrieked as she came face to face with Bianca's ridiculous face. "That... surprised me" she stuttered as she took a seat far across Bianca who was basically judging her from her head to her toes with those hawk-like glares. "I just came to thank you for saving my life, Danica. There's no need to see me as a threat... I promise" she started talking when no one else did. "You could have said that in the living room. Why stress me here when it's just a two sentence apology?" I asked harshly and she looked down at her fingers, her expression giving off a sincerity that I didn't like. She should have stayed being a bitch! And the hatred would have being more easier seeing how Finn rejected me brutally for her. Why come here and thank me with that look in her face?! "And I came to apologize... Apologize for being such a bitch to you" her voice trailed off as Bianca's glare became more heated on her skin. "You're scaring her, B" I whispered, trying hard to hold back my laughter but she didn't even spare me a glance. "I'm being sincere" she muttered again and I suddenly felt bad for her. I mean, she did sound really sincere. She looked like she was going to cry if she apologized one more time. "Okay, Anabel. Your apology is accepted" I muttered silently and a growl made us jump. "You do know that this stupidly nice hottie was starved and locked up ever since she saved you, don't you?" Bianca muttered, her tone visibly harsh. "Locked up? Yeah, I figured. But Starved?..." Anabel trailed off, her gaze flicking from me to Bianca and I rubbed my forehead in exhaustion. "Bianca!"I warned but she was far from stopping. "Your apology isn't going to lift her isolation, you know?" Bianca continued and Anabel bit her lips. "Maybe my apology wouldn't lift her isolation, but it will show her how bad I feel for always being such a jerk. Isn't that the point of an apology?" Anabel asked and I could see the tiny glint of a smirk on Bianca's lips. I've heard those words before. The first time Bianca and I met. She had spilled a cup of hot coffee on my shirt and when she apologized, I asked her the same question. *'Your apology isn't going to bring back my shirt, you know?'* Then she said *'Maybe my apology wouldn't bring back your shirt, but it will show you how bad I feel for spilling the coffee on you. Isn't that the point of an apology?'* "We were celebrating her death day in advance, by the way" Bianca blurted again, trying to get a different reaction from Anabel. "What?!" "Yeah, this isolation made me defy the Alpha's orders to come to the palace" I added and her face suddenly paled. "Do you... Do you think you can sincerely explain yourself to Alpha Alexander before he finds you himself?" Anabel asked, leaving Bianca and I to exchange glances. "If you think you can, I can help you find your way into the palace with my free pass by tomorrow morning, very early" she suggested and a mixture of both relief and dread surge through my bones.Danica's POV I had no idea what Anabel said to my father but leaving home this morning didn't earn me millions of questions or mockery of being useless.Even Joey was unusually calm and I suspected that she had no idea I was leaving to meet the same Alpha she worked so hard to make me defy."Alexander is ruthless even to his closest allies. He spares no one any form of disobedience or disrespect but be optimistic, he must really need you to have asked you to come over, I doubt he would kill you right away" Anabel said with a tiny smile on her face and I nodded once as we approached the guards at the palace grand entrance.I half expected them to stop us and do a thorough investigation about who I am but as soon as they saw Anabel, they simply bowed and let us through."Don't worry, she's with me. The Alpha specially asked to meet her" Anabel countered when she noticed their glares on me.They bowed in response and returned to stand in their positions."That was... Fast" I murmured, s
Danica's POVI kept walking like a puppy on a leash behind Alpha Alexander until he paused for a second to push the door to a room open. That was it. The moment my fears kicked in more than ever.I suddenly wanted to see Bianca one last time. There are suddenly a lot of things I want to do before I die. My feet remained glued at the entrance, not daring to go in with him, even if every fiber in my being didn't want to be anywhere away from him. My fate couldn't be more twisted right now, could it?"Danica?" His voice murmured and I was instantly snapped back to reality."Do I need to drag you in before you understand what I need you to do?" He asked, his voice sharper than it was a few minutes ago. I walked in, picking on my fingers with my eyes fixed on the suddenly 'beautiful' floor. The Alpha remained speechless, and for the next ticking seconds, there was no movement in the room... Except for the steady beating of his heart and the erratic beating of mine. So, I stole a glance ar
Danica's POV “Did I mention how hot you look in that dress?” Bianca asked for like the fiftieth time and I glared at her like she suddenly grew horns on her head. “Yeah, you did. A million times already?” I murmured with a roll of my eyes. “Am I the only one this excited for the Mating night?” Bianca muttered, smoothing her hair in the mirror. “Yes, you are” I told her truthfully, smacking a light red lipstick over my lips. “Why aren't you excited? It’s a welcome back celebration for the Alpha's return and it could be a chance to find your ‘rightful’ mate!” she exclaimed and my hands halted in midair. “And then what? A third rejection?” I threw back and she pressed her lips into a thin line. “Every ‘rightful mate’ out there always end up becoming unrightful the moment they realized they were mated to the pack’s pushover okay? That is nothing to be excited about” I added and she took a seat silently beside me. “You’re not a pushover, Danica. You're the smartest woman I've ever a
Danica's POV The hall boomed with a calm music that should make even the saddest person on earth a bit calmer but it only made me sadder if that was in any way possible. Maybe I wouldn't feel so miserable if Bianca was here to listen to all the drama that ensued right after she left angrily. But she wasn't here and I felt so out of place. Don't get me wrong, she was here at the party but not here beside me as my best friend. After the forced apology my father got from me for Joey, they had left me to get changed and find my way to the party on my own, so I literally walked over thirty meters to the venue on foot, looking miserable in the plain dull colored dress I picked to avoid anymore flashy-dresses drama. I had picked out the first dress today because it was a special one. My mom made it three years ago to make me wear it when I found my true mate but I didn't wear it when I felt the bond with Finn and Gamma Thorn because I still miss my mom so much and I always feel like if
Danica's POV Everyone turned to look at me and I didn't miss some mocking grimaces and scoffs but that didn't stop me from rushing to the couple sprawled on the floor. “It would take twenty minutes to get to the Pack's Clinic and she would lose her life by then” I said without looking up at the shocked men that were probably glaring lasers at me. “What do you think you're doing, Danica?” Finn gritted, pulling my arm painfully, his eyes bloodshot. “Would you rather let go of me right now or watch your mate die, Finn? Because right now this man isn't anywhere close to telling you the truth of how severe this case is. Anabel will die before you're even ten minutes into the journey to the clinic” I gritted in the same tone and his eyes dilated as he slowly let go of my hand. Was it me or did Finn just trust me with his mate's life? *‘Well, it's not like he has a choice’* I reminded myself. I pulled out a scapel from my thigh strap and I swiftly cut through a small area above her bre
Danica's POV “What?! I mean, Why? Is this your way of luring me into making a bigger mistake that would keep me in prison for the rest of my entire life and not just my youthful years?” I asked and he laughed. A sound I could give anything to hear again. “Now, why would you ask something like that?” He asked and I shrugged once. “Because I'm a useless omega you'll be glad to depose? Besides, I didn't even think before jumping in and trying to save one of your subordinate's sister and now I might have made things worse” I muttered, avoiding his gaze as much as I could. “No, you didn't unalive her if that's what you're worried about” he said again and I finally met his gaze, which had a little smirk curling up his lips again. “How… how would you know that?” I stuttered. “The energy I felt around her when I passed beside her body to find you was very much that of someone who was alive and kicking” he replied and my head did a 360 spin. ‘Felt her energy? How does that even happe
Danica's POV I held my cheek painfully, tears blinding my sight momentarily as I looked up to face Joey who was seething with an anger that threatened to unleash mine. She had some fucking guts to raise her filthy hands to my face! And for what?! “What the hell did you do that for?” I growled at her with bloodshot eyes and I saw her swallow nothing, pupils dilating before she quickly recomposed herself. “You're talking back at me after what you did?” She scoffed, raising her hand to slap me again and I would have fucking put her in her damn place if my Father hadn't beat me to it with his commanding voice. “Enough of this nonsense, you both! Get in the car. Now! And stop being such a nuisance!” he thundered irritably, his glare fixed on me. Just me! It has always being only me who gets to bear the blame for everything even if she was at a fault. The thought made more tears pool at my eyes but I didn't let it fall. It is all Joey ever wanted. To see me break down in front of her
Alexander's POV “Do you think she felt the bond but decided not to say a thing?” I asked no one in particular but the only person next to me in this car was Blake, my annoying yet helpful beta. “Or maybe she didn't feel the bond at all? She's an omega without a wolf… so I heard” he stated and I sighed. “Do you think she's fit to be your mate? You wanted a strong mate” He asked and I ran the tip of my tongue over my lower lip. “That’s why I'm keeping her close to me for the next three days to find out more about her” I told him, trying to convince myself than him that it was the only reason I invited her to the palace but I knew deep down from the moment I laid my eyes on her at the party when she was talking to Finn and Anabel that I probably wouldn't be able to let her slip away. Ever. *Weak or not!* She's the first female wolf to ever make my wolf lose his control. She was the most beautiful creature I've ever laid my eyes on, and trust me when I say that because I've met coun

Danica's POV It's been five hours since I got my 'sacred grounded' order but it already felt like an eternity. It wasn't the first time I've been grounded for things that was or was not my fault and being grounded also means no feeding whatsoever. I had no idea if my dad always gave that order too or if Joey and Freya just added that out of the 'good' of her own venomous hearts but I didn't care at this point.I was getting agitated and the reason was simple.Getting grounded after receiving an order from the Alpha to be at the palace for his treatment could only mean rebellion. What if he beheads me for defying him as soon as this is over?I was biting my nails as the thoughts ran through my head and I bit too hard as I got carried away, forcing a wince out of myself and I quickly closed my mouth around the finger, sucking the small blood that escaped. The entire forth and back with my father, my stepmom and stepsister weighed on my mind so hard that all I could hear at this point w
