Chapter Seven

As his tale unfolded, a sense of betrayal and anger welled up inside me. How could someone who was once close to the sorceress have been capable of such treachery? The young woman who had helped us in Sleepy Hollow clutched her fists in anger, her eyes blazing with righteous fury.

The sorceress's spirit hovered nearby, listening intently to the confession of her betrayer. A sense of sadness and longing emanated from her ghostly form, as if she had been waiting for centuries to hear the truth finally spoken aloud.

My father stepped forward, his voice calm but filled with authority. “You have caused enough pain and suffering with your deceit,” he addressed the betrayer. “It is time to make amends for the sake of the town and its people. We must find a way to lay the spirits of both the sorceress and her betrayer to rest, so that Sleepy Hollow may have a chance at peace.”
