Matt walked back home filled with joy in his mind. He threw his head backward to stretch his neck. That was how he always felt everytime he completed his morning roadwork. His strength was always on the rise as each day passed. He howled happily before gradually turning back into human.
Matt was a werewolf. His wolf looked more fierce and sturdier than it was expected for his age. He loved this about himself and wouldn’t crave anything more. He used to hear about some werewolves who used to change their whole body when shapeshifting. That would be intriguing but he wasn’t sure if that was a myth or real. He had never seen it.Another thing struck his mind. His mate. This was what he came short of. He couldn’t get a mate. It was like he didn’t have. His father used to console him with stories of some werewolves who had to travel far and wide before they could find their mate. He felt bad whenever he thought of how strong he should have been if he had a mate.He got back home that day and met every member of the pack waiting for him. He was more than shocked when his father started accusing him of something he knew nothing about.“We promised to leave them alone, why did you attack them again?” Matt’s father asked with anger in his voice.“Attack who?” Matt asked back. He definitely knew what his father meant. It was the Lopez pack. That was they promised not to attack. There was a feud between the two packs. Their alpha, Lopez killed some members of Matts packs. They attacked them and massacred them and the few left among them fled. Recently, the Lopez pack were in danger again and some of them had sought refuge nearby. Matt’s pack promised they wouldn’t attack them again. But with the way Matt's father was speaking now. Someone had attacked them. But why would he think it was him. He did not even know about any attack. “You are asking me who?” Matt’s father anger grew more. Should he be this angry even if they were attacked. Something was fishy. The attack could be by the new enemies they made. They were always causing trouble.“I don’t know what you are talking about and I attacked nobody” Matt replied his father carelessly. He ignored his aggression and was walking out on him.“You attacked no one?” Matt’s father pulled him back and gripped him hard. Matt was in pain due to the tightness of his grip. “When did that start?” He was surprised of his son audacity. “You shouldn’t you think I will be lenient just because you are my son” Matt's father was the alpha of the pack. A fearful one, dreaded by every member of the pack for his strict discipline.“Dad,I’m sorry” Matt voice shook. He felt his rage. “ I don’t mean to annoy you, but you are already angered beyond listening to explanation” He tried to calm his father. A beating from him in a time like this would be unbearable.“I will do my findings and if you are guilty of this, you will bear the punishment” He released his hold on him. Matt panted. “By guilty I mean if you really did attack them” he took a seat and breathed heavily.Matt was downcast. He was stuck at the spot. He felt ashamed, embarrassed and was clueless. He had never expected a day like this. His father scolding him, not just that, but in the presence of everybody. He didn’t know what to do. His father did not use to be as angry as this unless someone overstepped his or her boundaries. And that someone now was him.A hand held him and pulled him lightly. It was Steve. His mind was settled a bit at least for the moment. Steve was not his friend, but he was very reliable in a time like this. He was everyone’s friend. He was always there for anyone in any kind of problem. He would talk them through it, advised them and be with them through that period of their predicament.“Follow me” Steve whispered lightly to him. Matt glanced at his father who was still overwhelmed with anger. He looked away immediately. He wouldn’t want him more angry. He went with Steve to his where he served him booze and some steaks. They were very nice. But nothing could be as nice as an amicable settlement with his father. “Everyone think it was you” Steve sat close to Matt. What everyone thought was not a problem to Matt. His problem was what his father thought and how he could believe such thoughts that was not even supposed to cross his minds. “ But I know a liar when I see one” Steve consoled him.“You know a liar when you see one” Matt repeated. Steve nodded and took a sip from his drink. That means it was very obvious and he could know but his father couldn’t. “You know a liar when you see one” he muttered again. The words made him sadder. That was his father’s favorite word whenever he asked why he must took part in any investigation. Now he was the liar to be vetted. Hot tears rolled down his cheeks, he quickly wiped them with the back of his palm.“It’s okay” Steve patted him on the back. “Everything will be normal once the culprit is found” Steve held him close. Matt was supposed to be among those making findings not the prime suspect which he was right now.“What happened and what makes it that bad?” Matt inquired.“Bad? It was gross. Nothing could justify such an act. Some members of the Lopez pack were brutalized. Their throats were slit their guts were opened and whichever devil did that scattered their lungs all over the place” Steve narrated. Matt assumptions were correct. He knew it was about the Lopez pack. What he didn’t envisaged was the brutality with which they were killed. Who could be so wicked, the few of the pack that sought refuge there were not fighters. They were the weak amongst the pack.Earlier that morning, Matt’s father, Steve and some other members were attracted to the scene by painful cries coming from there. There were bodies and blood scattered all over the places. The culprit was in shifted body. A wolf from his head right to the shoulder and the rest of his body was that of a man. He had just finished with his last victim when they arrived.“Get him!!” Matt's father screamed as the unknown culprit ran away. Dylan, who was already turned by extreme anger, half wolf, half man body and two others went after him.“What kind of savagery is this” Matt's father could not believe his eyes. He couldn’t understand why someone could have done that.“He looked familiar” one of the members said. Matt's father was also thinking the same thing but he was not sure. Right now that someone uttered that, everyone knew that the wolf they saw looked like no one else but Matt.“I thought so, he was o
“What has gotten over you, Matt?” Eric, the oldest of the pack voiced out. Everyone including Matt's father believed Eric was very wise but Matt did not think like them. To him, Eric was like everybody, just older. He was just an expert in twisting words. “First, the Lopez pack, then your father. Are you insane?” Eric continued. They were the insane ones but if his ears were right it was like he mentioned his father. There must be something wrong with his father. His father had suffered the same fate as the butchered Lopez pack. That was what he meant. Or was he saying he killed his father the same way he killed the members of the Lopez pack.“My father, what’s wrong with my father” Matt asked trying to be on his feet but he couldn’t. Something bad must not happen to his father. It must not be what he thought.“What's wrong with your father is what you did to your father, bastard” Eric was embittered and furious. H
Alpha? Matt had never thought of becoming one. Everyone knew alpha was always a choice made by the majority of the pack. There was no crowned successor. Only a fool would think himself the next alpha. He became more angry. That was why his father was murdered and a whole lot of helpless others were brutally killed. All for an assumption of an idiot like Dylan.“Have you ever heard about C&B?” Dylan asked calmly. He lowered his voice to sound friendlier than before. Matt did not care about what that might mean. He never heard that before and he didn’t want to know whatever it meant. It wouldn’t do him any favor anyway.“It was something that called Checks and Balances. It is an effort to keep any powerful individual or organization from being power drunk. Am I wrong, Matt?” Dylan continued his story which had now become bitter songs to Matt's ears. “Of course, you won’t know if I am. You are just as dumb as your father&rdq
Just then, the two at the gates rushed to a direction. Matt couldn’t see what was happening but the sounds and noises he was hearing was clear enough to know what was going on. They were fighting someone in their wolf's body. Matt clutched the gate with his hands and was trying to peep through the gate. The cause of the fight was another mystery. It could be Dylan, maybe he had come up with another plan not welcomed by Eric. One of them was thrown to the front of the gate right in front of Matt. He turned back into a human being. He was dying and crying painfully. A wolf in its whole form walking on its four limbs walked over him and pulled off his shirt and pants. Matt was initially doubting if the wolf was a werewolf or a real wolf. But the way it was pulling off his clothes, it was definitely a werewolf. It would wear the clothes when it changed back because it would be naked, without clothes. He had about werewolves who changed their whole body when they turn but
“What do you think?” Matt asked still looking away. He was expecting her to giggle. There was no response from her. Matt thought she was angry. He wouldn’t want to annoy his helper, he quickly looked at her to tender apology but he was met with a smiling face. She was a teaser.“When have you been living out here?” Matt felt the place was like her home. She had freshen up when he was asleep. She smelled nice and was dressed up. She couldn’t be so comfortable if she hadn’t made it a home.“Few weeks ago. Alone” she looked downward. She was shy. It was like she was in control few minutes ago. Now, she had come back to shyness. He ignored that.“Why are you helping me?” Matt asked her carelessly. She frowned and stood up, went into the tent. What the hell is this. He had not say anything bad. She was just getting angry over a harmless question, Matt was surprised by this. He fol
Three months later. Matt dressed up in some security outfits. He came out into the living room where Angela was standing, probably waiting for him."I'm off" he smiled and kissed her. He headed outwards."You forgot it again. It has been over two months and you still don't get used to it" Angela yelled and shook her head pitifully."Oh, I will never get used to it. I guessed I am not a violent person" he groaned and rushed back to fetch his baton. He hanged it at a side of his pants."Fully dressed" he stood straight in front of her and sighed. Angela lifted her cheeks slightly waiting for another kiss."Again?" he asked indefinitely."You went back inside her" she got a kiss again.Matt stumbled outside into the street of Greenford. They came here like three months ago and he had been working as a security at Jane's Mall downtown. This is a country side filled with normal human. They had to hide and manage what the
Sergetti put his hand on the table. He closed his eyes and muttered some words. He lifted up his hand from the table and flames continued to rise under his hand. He continued mumbling and the flames became wilder.Just then, the flame was out. He opened his eyes instantly and looked around. He felt someone was in there with him.He grabbed his wand and pointed it into a direction. A man floated in the direction and walked on air towards him."Haynes!" he exclaimed surprisingly."Sergetti. I see you are creating your own world" he spoke stylishly with a smiling face. "Of flames" he quickly added."What do you want?" Sergetti asked angrily. Haynes was not a good person that should be paying someone visit. His name spelled trouble."What do you mean? I can't pay my friends a visit?" he went behind Sergetti. He bent to say something into his ear."Get off my back" Sergetti brushed him off hi
Chapter 9Matt rushed home. Though, he didn't have any idea of what he was going to do. He was just following his instincts."Matt! Matt!!" someone called out from behind him when he was about opening the door. It was Prince. He was very sure of that. This was not the time to joke if he had come for the picnic he used to whine about. The problem at hand was of high magnitude."Matt!!" he screamed again before Mayt could conclude whether to answer him or not."Please, can you just come back. I'm in the middle of the most important thing inmy life" Matt shouted angrily with his hand on the doorknob. He had become infuriated. Angela was the most important thing in her life."Wait a minute. It is something very important and I guessed it is one of the most important things in your life" Prince gasped breathlessly. He had been running.Matt looked at him. He just couldn't take him serious. Prince had never stricken him as someo
Edgar smiled to himself. He felt happy as he remembered his deal with Prince. That was a good one. He leaned back in the seat to rest his back to relish in his happinessIf Prince could deliver him the Lost Wand, then he wouldn't need to worry about anyone or anything. Everyone would rather be worried about him.It would be better if Prince was successful in that."But why is he protecting her?" he mumbled. He wondered why he would be having the back of someone who had a hand in his brother's death. He must have hated his brother so much or he had made another promising deal with the Omega."What the hell could that be?" he thought aloud as he tried to figure out.His brainstorming was brought to an abrupt halt as his cell phone rang.He glanced at the screen of the cell phone on the table in front of him."Malcolm?" he was not expecting his call."Malcolm!" he said after picking the call and putting it to his ear."There is something you should know about" Malcolm sighed.Edgar stood
"Didn't you say Malcom is careless? How many of your information are inaccurate?" Matt fumed at Prince.Angela, Matt and had just arrived at Malcolm's house. They hid behind a post to survey the area. They saw two men standing at the door. Prince didn't mention that when they were planning."These are just men, not wizards. All they have to fight are guns, handguns" Prince said like it was nothing."Then do what you are supposed to do and get us in" Matt voiced out."What I am supposed to do. What am I supposed to do?" he asked in amazement."You didn't have any plan to infiltrate?" Matt moaned in disappointment."The plan is we locate the Orb, take it and leave before anyone knows we are here" Prince recounted."How will you do that without going into the house?" Matt questioned."Actually, I thought bullets can't kill werewolves. I am counting on both of you" Prince declared."Yes, bullets can kill werewolves but can hold them down till they get killed" Matt revealed."There might b
"I have good news and bad news as well" Prince moaned.Angela and Matt had been staring at him intensely to hear his feedback from the wizard, Edgar."Let's hear the bad one first" Matt pronounced anxiously."I am sorry, you have no choice. The message is sequential" Prince said casually. No matter how sensitive the issue might be, he had a way of making jokes of it."No problem" Angela patted Matt on the laps to stop him from interfering. That might impede Prince's message again."Good news is Edgar will not be after you anymore" Prince smiled and looked around the room."And the bad?" Matt spilled quickly."That will only be for three days. After three days, he will start sending men to take you out again" Prince concluded."How does that make a good news?" Matt stared at Angela inquisitively."What does he want?" Angela stood up from beside Matt to be close to Prince. She was sure there was more that Prince had to say."Yes. He is not really pissed about your existence. He is only
Edgar opened the door."Come in" he sighed as the sight of Prince. He thought he had come to take the position of Sergetti, his brother, in the coven. He was going to be disappointed because that wouldn't be possible."Hi" Prince greeted."I have been expecting you for some time. You took a long time before showing up" Edgar walked back to his seat."Expecting me? For what?" Prince seemed astonished."For what you are here for, your brother's position" Edgar let out straight."No. I am not interested in that" Prince chuckled. "I don't want to join the coven. No" he shook his head."That's good. Because your household seat in the coven has been forfeited" he narrated. "So why are you here?" he finally asked."There is a particular werewolf in Greenford that has caught your interest" Prince paused probably after noticing Edgar's had raised his eyebrows."An omega werewolf! Yes" he confirmed."I am here because of her" Prince sat down."I knew she had something to do with your brother's
Angela sighed as Prince walked in to them. She had been waiting for his return after he left to go get some clues why Edgar was after her life."You get anything?" Matt jumped up from his seat anxiously."Nothing. I did not catch any news" Prince shook his head as he also sunk into a seat."This is just because of Sergetti. Seegetti was a member of the coven. He is trying to avenge him" Angela concluded."I'm very sure it isn't. He was not very much of a friend to Sergetti in his last days. He also wanted him dead" Prince disagreed."But that is the only thing that makes sense right now. Why would someone put an assassin on someone he had never seen before?" Matt contended.Angela was silent. She was busy thinking how they would get out of this."Take me to him" she broke out suddenly."What?" Matt opened his mouth wide."Take me to him. I will speak to him, maybe his reason is something we can iron out" she insisted."You are kidding right?" Prince chuckled. "You want to go meet some
"Come in" Edgar fixed his eyes on the door to welcome who was coming in.He was expecting a particular visitor and he was very convinced he was the one who had knocked. The door opened and Larry came in.Edgar stood up from his seat in amazement. He was sure something unusual had happened. Kline should show up after a mission instead of his brother."Where is Kline?" he asked immediately."He is dead" Larry shook his head."Is that true?" Edgar didn't want to believe he heard him right. Since the death of his predecessor, Kline had proved to be efficient."He killed himself" Larry continued. "She turned and bit him. I think he slashed himself, after that. His own knife cut deep in his neck " he said silently."How the hell did he allow her to turn?" he wondered."I don't know. He told me he was going after her and the next thing I found is his body dead on his bed" Larry said emphatically. It seemed he was annoyed."You mean he didn't come back in?" Edgar asked."I'm damn sure he didn
"Keep the change" Angela whispered to the cashier. She couldn't take her eyes off a man that was walking around the supermarket. She was very sure he was dangerous and he was in the supermarket because of her. He was not buying anything. She was more worried about Matt. She knew this man couldn't attack him in the open like this. She wanted to get home as soon as possible. She rushed out of the supermarket and continued home looking back intermittently as she walked on hurriedly. She couldn't see the man anymore but that only made her more worried."Matt!!" she yelled before getting to the door. She was almost in tears. Something told her she would go in and meet Matt's fatally wounded if not dead."I'm sure you are still coming inside, why the rush to see my face?" Matt smiled as he opened the door."Matt" she called softly and sighed. She checked him from afar. He looked well, unhurt. Angela dropped the bag in her hand and rushed to hug him."Is there a problem? Has something happ
"There can never be anything else that could make me feel better than this" Matt battled with the bone in his hand scraping off all the meats that weee on it.Angela looked at him subtly and continued with her own food. Matt loved normal human food more than these raw animal. He could just be saying that to add flavor to the experience or he had changed by time.It had been almost a month that they had been living peacefully without no foe to worry about. Sergetti was dead, no one found his body though but he was obviously gone out of their lives. The floating wizard, Haynes had also disappeared finally. They had no problems than to live and enjoy their lives."I don't care if you prefer cooked food to this, we are not the same breed, we should be different" Angela spilled in honesty. There was nothing to pretend for."I am not talking about food preference. I mean I always love moment like this. Just the two of us on a picnic blanket and feasting"
Matt had turned into the werewolf. He looked at the Sicily Valley in front of him. It was large and sniffing the whole place would take some time."You should get to work, now" Sergetti instructed like a boss would talk to his employee.Matt stared at him for some time. He jumped forward and walked slowly to make sure he caught the scent of what he was looking for."I'm sorry, you'll need to be on all fours" Sergetti said and shook his head slightly as Matt turned to look at him."You should have gotten a pig that will snort for you" Matt said strongly, his voice of werewolf was thick, scary and threatening."I think werewolves are better at snorting compared to pigs, isn't it?" he said to taunt his werewolf nature.Matt was angry, extremely angry. He always had some kind of rage whenever he was in his werewolf form."What is it that I am looking for?" he ignored him, controlled his anger and decided to get this done with.Matt ha
