CHAPTER SIXTY

Myra's POV

Finally Noah let me go, and I felt a pang of pain in my chest as his hands slipped away from my shoulders. He turned to the coat rail beside the door, and fetched an oversize black coat, draping it around my shoulders.

"Here," he murmured, fingers brushing the coat's material. "You'll be warm in this."

Having to let him go, even for a few days felt like several silver blades to my heart. It was as though my soul was entwined with his, and pulling us apart was like pulling a porcupine's quill from an open wound—painful and merciless.

I followed Colin out of the pack house, each step heavy with the weight of what I had to do. I glanced back at the large pack house, feeling a deep sense of unease settle in the pit of my stomach. That rogue wolf's threat still hung heavy in the air like a dark cloud, and I couldn't help but feel vulnerable.
