Myra's POV

A long lost loved one?

My mind was lost and confused on her words, while my eyes fought to hold back the tears. My body in its state was too filled with hurt and my heart was far past broken.

I laid flat inside the wooden cab, with Reyna's parents both sitting on either side of me; my back to Elder Francis, but my eyes painfully met by his wife's dark, and unrelenting gaze.

I could feel my hands burn slightly from the strange heat that the ropes now suddenly emitted. And I groaned as I wriggled my wrists harder; hoping to squeeze them free from their bonds.

The carriage wheels now creaked through a stony path, and I found myself jerked up and down at intervals as it bounced on rocky ground; making my struggle even more difficult.

I didn't know when a tear slipped from my eyes, and I began crying. I sobbed as I wondered where Noah was now? Whether he was safe? Whether as he slept in fatigue through the night, he was also woken up with a knock and kidnapped just as I was now?

Noah's POV I sat up in bed with my hands to my head and my fingers gripping my temples like a man on a cliff edge hanging on for dear life. I slept last night but I didn't sleep. My thoughts were relentless and unending. I turned and groaned in bed all through the witches hour. I couldn't breathe steady and my eyes shot open and glanced at every corner at the slightest noise.I had a strange dream. And a dream I couldn't shake off even now that the morning sun was breaking through the blinds of my window sill. The birds were chirping and squirrels chattered outside but the voice of my mind was louder.I had seen Myra being taken away from the cabin, tied up and bundled into a carriage by two people, but their faces were dark and hazy; unanimously blurry. They had come immediately the sun rose, almost as if they already knew she was there and subdued her with ease when she tried to defend herself.I had jerked out of bed, only to see my body drenchd in sweat, with my mind screaming a

Noah's POV“What did she say to you?” I asked, with my eyes still locked on himI could see his face distort slightly, and his brows bop in controlled surprise. He didn't expect the question.“Well…” he coughed, clearing his throat. “She was crying for me to let her come see you…” he explained “That she was lonely and cold despite the fireplace.” his voice dragged heavy “But even colder in her heart…” and now with a tone of mockery. “She said she was desperate for your love and affection; and even more, for your presence…”His voice was theatrical. Almost like a stage play.“She says she hates the cabin and wonders if you don't love her anymore, or maybe you've abandoned her in the name of protecting her…” “She says she sees ghosts, hears strange sounds and sometimes the rustling of leaves even in the absence of wind...He smirked then sat back down on the log, with the stick still in hand. He really moved and operated like an Army general.“I tried to calm her down but she insisted

I had even forgotten to notice the one man in the group that sat injured, and as we talked; groaned in pain.“What happened to you?” I asked, craning my neck to him slowly. The question wasn't anywhere near from a place of empathy, but rather from trying to change the subject. And a hopefully not futile endeavor to regain authority. The man in question held his hands to his stomach and close to his ribs. He was shirtless and bandages had been wrapped around him like a fighter's knuckle guard. The space under his palm showed red and he looked from his wound then up to me, sharply.“It's nothing Alpha...I'll be fine…” he answered pert, with his face contact. I could sense he didn't want to be seen as weak. “Bunch of those wolves attacked this morning and I was part of the first watch…” he explained “We clashed and I got a little gash in the process.”The man's face was a reddish brown and his hair was matted. I could see scratches and bruises all over him and it was obvious he wasn't

Myra's PovI laid on the cold floor as my mind thought back to what mother used to tell me.Every night as I went to bed. And each time; hungry, sad and tearful."The road to hell was a long one"I never understood it back then, but now I realized it first hand.As I had been tied and bundled on the floor of this carriage for more than a good hour.My legs were hurting, and my vision was degrading to blurriness. I could feel the bones in my wrists creak from being tied together so viciously. And my feet felt like they were no longer a part of me, as I had lost all sensation in my toes.I could hear a ringing in my ears, and in a sharp long frequency, as my thoughts leapfrogged all over my sanity. The world was a haze, and I could only see as far as two things made from one; because all I saw was everything in doubles. From a distance I could hear only echoes of laughter from Francis and Elora. Both of them gained entertainment from seeing me suffer, and now I felt... maybe... hell was

Noah's PovI stayed squatting as Colin's eyes still remained motionless even though they stared at me. His voice was steady and calculated, his stance almost in asserting leadership; and he breathed in and out with a deep-seated sense of control. “The rogue wolves have attacked twice…” he chimed, finally breaking the odd silence. “That was last night, and this morning as well…” he added “I've made plans for defending the border... and it's going to be difficult...but I believe, still doable…” he specked He ran his hands through his hair as he now joined me to squat.“The entire border spans a hundred miles in both directions…” he explained as he drew two lines referencing the mentioned directions. “Trees line all through, leaving little space in between for our men to swing spears or swords...so our next best plan is to take advantage of the branches...” he pointed out.“Archers would be set up in each tree with full quilts and telescopes, to help them sight the enemy from afar a

Myra's Pov For some reason, my eyes had stayed glued to the sign, and Elora in her constant glances at me, had happened to notice. As she instantly yelled an order to the man who was carrying me, and he in obedience; viciously dropped me on the floor with a thud.My head hit the rocky ground, and a sharp pain immediately shot around inside my skull, almost in a dance.I sprawled on the floor with my hands still tied behind me and my ankles still locked together. As the driver now reached in his pocket and pulled out a blindfold.I became frantic, and didn't know when I started struggling and heaving to drag myself away. As Elora suddenly walked up briskly from behind him and towards me, gesturing for the man to wait, as she strutted past him.I paused as the man stepped back slowly, with his hands gripping the handkerchief tight. And Elora is now standing directly above my head."You came here to die, Cursed one..." she spat, holding a wicked gaze "Not sightsee..." she pressed, coldl

I shoved Colin's hands off my shoulders, with my face already halfway contorted in anger. My eyes were already filled with fiery indignation yet I could still see him smiling."What is the meaning of all this Colin?!" I yelled, not knowing when I did.Colin, in his poise, still stood bold with an eyebrow raised almost in insulting analysis of my reaction."Meaning of what Noah?..." he asked, feigning ignorance.I wanted to raise my voice again, but I glanced sideways and noticed the soldiers; all now fitted with bows and arrows, standing and facing us.I paused, and looked from Colin to them; then back again. I knew this was a trap. And I wasn't going to fall for it."Go get in position, man..." I said, slowly now, calming my nerves. "Arrange yourselves amongst the trees as you've been told..." I added, with a bitter taste in my mouth. "Keep close guard of your weapons lest they fall and leave you stranded, and let every man be on first watch!" I ordered, and now with a tone of final

"You run around playing lover boy, while I'm here struggling to explain to people around me that you're not CRAZY!" Colin's face was going blue, as he yelled and yelled, and his voice reached decibels that seemed to stretch his vocal chords dangerously."Everyday I wake up with a sigh, and my hands on my head, telling myself, 'Oh, here comes another day to go defend a lunatic that I call a FRIEND...' " he stressed "But surely you don't know how that feels Noah..." His hands went up now to both sides, like a waiter carrying two trays to a table; but the only thing he held out was his palms as he shrugged."Oh no, my friend..." he ticked. "You're too loved up to notice everything falling apart, too lost in romance to see how much you're sinking into insanity, too smitten to see beyond your own eyelids!" he jeered.I stood there motionless as Colin scrambled words out of his mouth. And each time they came flooding, they broke something inside me; cracking my conscience like eggs."Who

Noah's PovThe last moments were glorious. The flash of white and the deafening sound of a strange ringing that pierced through my ears was divine. As a huge monster, and one bigger than anything I had ever laid my eyes on stood just ahead of me. Towering over seemingly all existence like a god in the flesh. It's height was closer to the sun than the clouds themselves; and if it made the effort, it's head alone in the right position could cause an eclipse. The sound of it's footsteps were like bombs dropping intermittently. And the claws that grew out of it's hands and body were the size of spears; the tips specifically sharpened for killing dragons. With it's skin white as chalk and scaly as a fish's hide.I laid flat on my back as Flanagan's blade had stopped halfway at the sound of the creature's roar. I was saved. And I stayed motionless; reeling in pain from the excess gratitude. The monster roared again, and the leader of the Rogues stood with his mouth agape as he dropped his

As I lost full control of myself, and my wolf instincts took full control of my entire being.Colin's loud yelling had attracted surprisingly hundreds of guards. But sadly they all ended in a similar fate. As I tore through and out of the dungeons with rage being my fuel and motivation. I chopped off heads and dismembered arms and legs, leaving corpses in my wake as I burst out into the sunlight. Only dimmed by smoke from burning houses and soldiers trampling stalls with maces.I roared loud and everyone's attention turned to me frantically. They all drew their swords with fear in their eyes as they looked up at me towering over them. I laid waste to more than I could count. As they kept coming in waves after wavesand kept dying in the same succession. My anger had reached a point never before seen, and now I was thirsty for blood. And blood did flow...As I tore through entire

"Personal interest, isn't it obvious?..." "What did they promise you?" And now he laughed loudly. His voice booming as it reverberated across the hollow and cold walls of the dungeon. He chuckled and held himself with both hands clasped together, smiling. "They didn't promise me anything, Noah..." he replied. "Well they did. But that was simply a superficial desire. Because I'm not here for anything they can offer..." he answered. "They don't even possess anything of my interest to give. Because as it stands... everything is already mine." My hands were hurting and now my soul was burning. I was confused as to why Colin could be working with the enemy? I was losing blood flow in my arms as I wondered why my own frien

Noah's PovI regained my consciousness in pure darkness. The only light being the torches that spread out amongst gray walls, giving vision as little as bird seed. The side of my head hurt with a sharp pain as blood flowed down my face, trickling to the floor. I felt dizzy and every part of my body hurt. I couldn't see, so I tried to move my hands. But the only sound I heard was the creaking of bones and the jingling of metal. I frowned as I slowly craned my neck upwards. And found myself being held captive by a set of chains connected to the damp wall behind me. I shook my head in pain and frustration, realizing I wasn't just in this place, wherever it was. But I was stuck here too.My mind went through its own pain as I suddenly thought of what had happened? Where am I now? And if we had lost? The fight was something I vaguely remembered. And the only thing that stood out was the impact I made before everything went black. Noah's Pov I released a yell as I lunged forward; swinging my sword with all my weight behind it. I didn't aim. I didn't plan. I just moved to strike. And learnt too late that that was ignorant. As I saw him dodge the blow and myself become open for one. When I felt the full force of the steel fist he sent to my ribs. That cracked them in pieces like twigs.I fell to the floor, coughing blood. And air left my lungs as if it was being pumped out of my body. The pain was immense and it shot through my entire frame, making me keel over on the sand. Shellshocked. The horseman walked up to me till he got close enough to stand over me. I could see him smile down as I groaned in pain and his mouth revealed a row of jagged teeth. He held his sword by his side, then slowly sheathed it back. Now folding his arms and squinting at me.“Your time has come Alpha…” his baritone voice boomed. “I suggest you give up now while you still can, and maybe you'll be spared.” he said.”You are not winning

Noah's Pov I grinned as I stood up slowly. Then got up to my feet and smiled wide, nodding to the boy in respect. As he had just saved me the vain effort of chasing down a phoenix. He nodded back and as the man wanted to get up the second time; Danny instantaneously turned, aimed and fired again. Taking him to the ground in a louder groan.I was surprised at his speed. As I didn't see anything happen until the arrow had already hit its target. The boy folded his hand in a fist and gestured in victory. As the man on the floor now fell flat on his face.“I did it Alpha!” Danny yelled now. “I took him out!” he jumped, celebrating.“I did it!”He jumped and threw fists in the air, and even dropped his bow and did a dance in between. But I frowned as I would have loved to believe that too...Because the two arrows had landed closely together, and now looked like antennas sticking out of the man's back. And my brows raised in confusion and doubt. As I didn't believe he could be taken out t

And the wind blew strong and rough; almost changing its form to the waves of a raging storm.I was out on the field with a regiment of men at the forefront, while reinforcements laid hiding in plain sight. I held my sword and shield, but they felt burdensome. As I hadn't held even a stick in a good year.Yet I stood at the gates of the pack house. Directly in front. Holding the fort as the leader. And desirous to land the first kill. My blood was pumping, adrenaline raging and annoyance building. I was here to fight alongside my men, and to the death if it meant it.We had spread out in units; some on the ground, some in the trees, and some underground. The plan had been relayed, reiterated, and understood. And the day to implement had come. It was finally time. The moment of truth. The day of Reckoning…I felt strange yet confident. As inside

I was angry, and wielding my sword with enough force to crack the hilt in two. And I gathered speed as I climbed up and came down the hill that led to the training area.I powered down the dusty path, seeing the hoof prints of the men who came before to inform me of my daughter's health. And it hurt me to see her sick and forlorn. Because she was important and I needed her. I could sense she had a versatile power in her.
