But I didn't want to believe it. And I struggled hard not to. Yet I just couldn't dispute it.

Because by nature, only wolves of the same family could read each other's minds through a connected mind link. As it was meant for parents to contact their cubs if they ever got lost; and for cubs to call for help when they found themselves in danger.

It wouldn't connect with anyone outside the family. And now I frowned in disgust, wondering if I and this brute were actually family?

But I sighed in relief as another thought came to mind. As he could only read my thoughts and I couldn't read his.

That meant we weren't fully connected...And that meant we weren't really family. And at least not directly.

But that didn't make any sense? If we weren't fully family then he wouldn't be able to read my thoughts at all? He wouldn't have any access since he wasn't completely part of my bloodline?
