Myra's Pov

My eyes blinked slowly, as they struggled not to stay closed and continue in sleep. I hadn't rested in more than a day, and the pains in my wrist and ankles still lingered around in my body. I shifted slightly, but I was surprised when I felt something underneath me. And it was warm and soft. But I was even more surprised when my eyes finally opened a good patch and I found myself sideways on the floor?

I frowned as everything seemed to be up above me, while I was down below on the ground in some cocoon. And the walls around me seemed to bend and sway over me; while I laid wrapped in something I couldn't even turn my head enough to recognize. But I still managed to crane my neck sideways. And that was when I noticed the lantern. A big orb of light inside an iron spiral that almost looked like the sign of infinity. But it was rusty. Yet it stood bright in the center of wherever it was that I was?

I tried to move, but my entire frame was too lost in fatigue; and even my soul

Noah's PovThe roof seemed to cave in on my head as I stood there. As the wind from outside the window still pushed and pulled at the blinds; and I froze motionless like a child lost in a haunted house.A million thoughts took to their heels as I glanced around the room frantically. And I moved from the fireplace immediately, and deeper inside the cabin. I kicked down doors and tore down cabinets. I didn't know why I broke the kitchen sink too, but I was in a panic. Where was she? Where did she go to? How did she leave? What happened to her?My head was steaming, as I now started looking for blood trails. I frowned at the curtains and searched for claw marks, hunting for any sign of struggle. I could feel my heart beat ten times faster as I walked around the small cabin. But as I kept finding nothing, it now felt like an entire castle. And as my legs were heavy, even though I was stampeding, it felt like I wasn't moving fast enough. Because there was no time to waste. Myra was gone.

Myra's PovBut father was silent for the most part. As he leaned back in his chair, and yawned, then sniffled; running his hands under his nose. His eyes blinked slowly as he kept staring at me. Then he cleared his throat and put his legs down from each other."Oh, I should be thanking you Myra..." he said now, sighing."Because you're only the reason I'm still alive, even though death has been trying to take me for so long..." he said, oddly confessing. "And it's funny really..." he smirked. "To think that my desire to exist would actually be increased by the love of a single child?..."And the last sentence sent chills up my spine. I was wrapped in clothes that could help me survive living inside a glacier, yet his words made me freeze. I didn't like how everyone had now begun attaching some vague importance to my existence; especially when I knew there was nothing special about me. There was no value, no worth, no wow factor. Absolutely nothing. Yet somehow everyone was suddenly he

Noah's PovThe road was dangerously quiet and everything surrounding me was trapped in darkness. I still managed to see but with the rain, my eyes were getting as covered in water as my clothes. My hands were muddy and I wiped them across my jeans, as I stumbled up a different path and took a shortcut; busting out into the entrance of my chambers."Colin!!!" I yelled. "Colin!!!"I hurried up the steps, but stopped as a figure suddenly stood out from the shadows just at the foot of the stairs. I turned immediately; and my night vision placed in view a man with a disturbingly straight posture, and standing in a calm pose. His left hand was behind his back in a stance while his right held a torch that shone too bright and disturbed my changed eyes. I groaned and raised a hand to block the light, then reverted my vision back to normal. My pupils dilated and the surrounding darkness seeped back in.But with the torch I could now see where I stood, unassisted by my powers. Along with who wa

Myra's PovHis eyes stayed locked unto mine like a vice, as he stared at me like an hieroglyphic on an ancient wall. I was hypnotized, and didn't know when I found myself lost. The energy from his gaze kept me fixed, and my hands shook as I wanted to turn away but just couldn't. His breath was steady and mine was somehow in rhythm, hanging in spurts yet still flowing. I didn't know what to do, and the room suddenly became tense; with the heat of the lantern now somehow doubling. I sat with my legs crossed, wondering how long we would stare, when his head suddenly darted and the spell was broken. The same time a crack of thunder clapped just outside. And I almost jumped out of my skin as I shrieked in response to the boom; and father moved away, standing up slowly and with a blank gaze.He got off his toes and his eyes moved to the tent flap. It swayed and struggled, and even raised off the ground. At one point, it swooped up entirely and revealed what stood beyond. And I frowned as

"That you are risking your health standing shirtless in this weather?...""Okay that's enough with the remarks Richard, I'll get dressed alright...""Well I'm sorry sire, but persistence is key..." he bowed.I frowned now, and turned away. I dropped the box and coat over my bed, then walked over to the wardrobe and swung open the oak doors. My eyes were greeted with clothes and jeans on separated racks, all neatly pressed and folded. I squinted at the pile and reached randomly, picking a blue shirt and black jeans. The door slammed behind me as I slugged my legs inside the trousers; shrugged inside then buttoned the shirt."There we are sir...and I believe you should add the coat now too..." "No, that's enough...I need my ability to move freely. A huge coat is a burden...""Move freely? Where are you going sir?" he asked.I straightened the shirt as I stared at the mirror again

Izon's Pov I could feel my feet squish in the muddy ground like a baby's bathing sponge in frustrated hands. I hated it when it rained; and even more so when I had to be out on the field at the same time. The weapons I carried grew heavier as the rain poured down, and I walked damp past the barracks and into the armament room. I pushed open the door with my feet as every square inch of my arms were occupied. The metal door creaked open and I huffed; dragging blades and axes as though a knight wearing double chainmail. The room was lit with torches on all sides and the whole space seemed to glow red like hell's belly. I frowned as I moved over to the vacant clips on the walls, and filled them with weapons, increasing our arsenal. It was the only thing that felt good for me as far as today was concerned."Might grow old and die being second fiddle...but I won't accept it..." I groaned, lifting a mace. The head was spherical, and spikes shot out every which way; one wrong move and a fi

Noah's Pov The path to Colin's home was a winding one, and with the wet ground, I almost went mud sledding. The slight hill that sloped down this shortcut was dangerously arched, yet low in a plateau. And I reached one foot at a time, feeling for solid ground, before I took any step. The rain didn't show any sign of stopping anytime soon, and I groaned in frustration as my feet splashed and sploshed; going almost ankle deep in brown soil. I kept my head forward however, with my night vision re-ignited, getting closer and treading carefully. The night had grown old and the skies had subsequently fallen in a darker shade. The moon itself seemed to have retreated into its own home for fear of being struck by lightning. But I tramped onward and reached a clearing; a grove of shrubs that formed an unintentional fence around Colin's abode, and I maneuvered myself as well as my umbrella through and over it, now finding myself in his front yard."Colin!!!" I yelled. The rain kept on coming d

Noah's PovI froze at the question. As my hands let go of Colin and he slipped from my grasp; tumbling to the floor in a loud groan. I stepped back slowly, as thoughts rushed forward in my mind, making me fear the worst. Images and memories flooded back, and I found my breath almost hanging on a thread. I could feel my hands begin to shake as I remembered the battle at the boundary."Flanagan?" I said, out of breath."Ding ding ding..." Colin answered, coughing. "We have a winner..." he groaned, trying to get up."So stay off my back Noah..." he wheezed. "I'm just trying to have a peaceful evening alright..." he gestured, finally straightening up. "You already disturbed my peaceful afternoon, so please give me room this time okay?... I'm too tired to worry about kidnapping..."My eyes glazed in anger again as I faced him. I raised a hand the second time now, and released a punch. But I was shocked as this time, it missed the target. It didn't miss by a wide margin but it missed. And

Noah's PovThe last moments were glorious. The flash of white and the deafening sound of a strange ringing that pierced through my ears was divine. As a huge monster, and one bigger than anything I had ever laid my eyes on stood just ahead of me. Towering over seemingly all existence like a god in the flesh. It's height was closer to the sun than the clouds themselves; and if it made the effort, it's head alone in the right position could cause an eclipse. The sound of it's footsteps were like bombs dropping intermittently. And the claws that grew out of it's hands and body were the size of spears; the tips specifically sharpened for killing dragons. With it's skin white as chalk and scaly as a fish's hide.I laid flat on my back as Flanagan's blade had stopped halfway at the sound of the creature's roar. I was saved. And I stayed motionless; reeling in pain from the excess gratitude. The monster roared again, and the leader of the Rogues stood with his mouth agape as he dropped his

As I lost full control of myself, and my wolf instincts took full control of my entire being.Colin's loud yelling had attracted surprisingly hundreds of guards. But sadly they all ended in a similar fate. As I tore through and out of the dungeons with rage being my fuel and motivation. I chopped off heads and dismembered arms and legs, leaving corpses in my wake as I burst out into the sunlight. Only dimmed by smoke from burning houses and soldiers trampling stalls with maces.I roared loud and everyone's attention turned to me frantically. They all drew their swords with fear in their eyes as they looked up at me towering over them. I laid waste to more than I could count. As they kept coming in waves after wavesand kept dying in the same succession. My anger had reached a point never before seen, and now I was thirsty for blood. And blood did flow...As I tore through entire

"Personal interest, isn't it obvious?..." "What did they promise you?" And now he laughed loudly. His voice booming as it reverberated across the hollow and cold walls of the dungeon. He chuckled and held himself with both hands clasped together, smiling. "They didn't promise me anything, Noah..." he replied. "Well they did. But that was simply a superficial desire. Because I'm not here for anything they can offer..." he answered. "They don't even possess anything of my interest to give. Because as it stands... everything is already mine." My hands were hurting and now my soul was burning. I was confused as to why Colin could be working with the enemy? I was losing blood flow in my arms as I wondered why my own frien

The only light being the torches that spread out amongst gray walls, giving vision as little as bird seed. The side of my head hurt with a sharp pain as blood flowed down my face, trickling to the floor. I felt dizzy and every part of my body hurt. I couldn't see, so I tried to move my hands. But the only sound I heard was the creaking of bones and the jingling of metal. I frowned as I slowly craned my neck upwards. And found myself being held captive by a set of chains connected to the damp wall behind me. I shook my head in pain and frustration, realizing I wasn't just in this place, wherever it was. But I was stuck here too.My mind went through its own pain as I suddenly thought of what had happened? Where am I now? And if we had lost? The fight was something I vaguely remembered. And the only thing that stood out was the impact I made before everything went black. Noah's Pov I released a yell as I lunged forward; swinging my sword with all my weight behind it. I didn't aim. I didn't plan. I just moved to strike. And learnt too late that that was ignorant. As I saw him dodge the blow and myself become open for one. When I felt the full force of the steel fist he sent to my ribs. That cracked them in pieces like twigs.I fell to the floor, coughing blood. And air left my lungs as if it was being pumped out of my body. The pain was immense and it shot through my entire frame, making me keel over on the sand. Shellshocked. The horseman walked up to me till he got close enough to stand over me. I could see him smile down as I groaned in pain and his mouth revealed a row of jagged teeth. He held his sword by his side, then slowly sheathed it back. Now folding his arms and squinting at me.“Your time has come Alpha…” his baritone voice boomed. “I suggest you give up now while you still can, and maybe you'll be spared.” he said.”You are not winning

Noah's Pov I grinned as I stood up slowly. Then got up to my feet and smiled wide, nodding to the boy in respect. As he had just saved me the vain effort of chasing down a phoenix. He nodded back and as the man wanted to get up the second time; Danny instantaneously turned, aimed and fired again. Taking him to the ground in a louder groan.I was surprised at his speed. As I didn't see anything happen until the arrow had already hit its target. The boy folded his hand in a fist and gestured in victory. As the man on the floor now fell flat on his face.“I did it Alpha!” Danny yelled now. “I took him out!” he jumped, celebrating.“I did it!”He jumped and threw fists in the air, and even dropped his bow and did a dance in between. But I frowned as I would have loved to believe that too...Because the two arrows had landed closely together, and now looked like antennas sticking out of the man's back. And my brows raised in confusion and doubt. As I didn't believe he could be taken out t

Noah's PovTWO CYCLES LATERThe day the war began was one I would never soon forget. The day the morning sun became a gloomy circle in the sky. And the wind blew strong and rough; almost changing its form to the waves of a raging storm.I was out on the field with a regiment of men at the forefront, while reinforcements laid hiding in plain sight. I held my sword and shield, but they felt burdensome. As I hadn't held even a stick in a good year.Yet I stood at the gates of the pack house. Directly in front. Holding the fort as the leader. And desirous to land the first kill. My blood was pumping, adrenaline raging and annoyance building. I was here to fight alongside my men, and to the death if it meant it.We had spread out in units; some on the ground, some in the trees, and some underground. The plan had been relayed, reiterated, and understood. And the day to implement had come. It was finally time. The moment of truth. The day of Reckoning…I felt strange yet confident. As inside

I was angry, and wielding my sword with enough force to crack the hilt in two. And I gathered speed as I climbed up and came down the hill that led to the training area.I powered down the dusty path, seeing the hoof prints of the men who came before to inform me of my daughter's health. And it hurt me to see her sick and forlorn. Because she was important and I needed her. I could sense she had a versatile power in her. And one that would be important to our victory.Yet now she has been sidelined and put aside by illness...And Colin was to pay.My anger doubled as I powered down and reached the men.
