Myra's Pov

Now I had been in my seat for longer than an hour. Almost days if I calculated the pain and cramps as well as my emotional and mental cacophony. I hated being here and I hated how the air in the room had seemingly begun to constrict. As I felt myself breathing with effort more than usually necessary.

I stared at the man in front of me as he laughed again, seeing my frown. I didn't expect what he had said, but even now I wanted to know what more had happened, as I wanted to hear even more about my vague history.

"I know it sounds strange and eerie..." he said, shaking his head. "But his plans could be considered nothing compared to the attacks of the enemy back then..." he groaned, facing the floor now. "As our people were beheaded, and dragged across the street till only strips of skin remained; some boiled in oil and others even crucified..." he cheated.

I frowned deeper and in disgust as the words hit my ears. As I wondered how they would boil someone? And who were my peo

Noah's Pov I stood there for a few seconds watching his face, and his eyes stayed on me with a deadness I had never seen before. I knew he always had cold looking eyes, but now they were frozen solid."I said what do you want?""Look Colin, I just want to talk..."But his face stayed the same, showing no surprise or thought, or anything. He just stayed expressionless and motionless."About what?" "What I said..." "Did you say something?" he asked, feigning surprise. My head went down in a sigh."Look, I'm sorry Colin...I didn't mean those things I said, I...I was just angry..."His face still didn't move. And he didn't respond. The silence that swooped in was awkward, and as blue doves squawked in and out of the surrounding trees, the atmosphere became strangely tense. I could feel the weight of it like an invisible burden.I didn't know what else to say. I had only planned an apology, and that was already a failed outing. I had set some questions in my back pocket but as I reach

Myra's PovThe words rang in my ears disturbingly and I sat confused."How?" I asked. And Flanagan straightened in his chair at the question. He belched again, and minced his teeth, feeling the after taste of whatever that red drink might have been."Because I am your father..." "That's not possible..." I retorted, almost immediately. "Like I said, you are so uniquely gullible..." he chuckled. "You still believe in a stupid lie even after years of living in hiding, even after you've grown to see fear as a second shadow...""You can't be my father!..." I yelled back, refusing.A part of me knew he wasn't lying, but another part refused to accept a monster as the one who gave birth to me. I just couldn't accept that someone who was a killer was my father."You haven't ever laid eyes on your father, yet you just know it can't be me?" he asked, frowning now. "I know the reason is because you imagine your father would be someone better..." he said."But life doesn't always give us what w

Myra's Pov I was still on the ground when I felt an arm wrap around me, raising me up and placing me back in the chair.I sobbed as rough grimy hands wiped my tears and straightened me by my shoulders, setting my head straight forward and into suddenly caring eyes."I know it's a lot to process but you'll be fine..." came a low calm voice. "And I just want you to know you should take as much time as you need to accept this..." I kept sobbing as his voice continued and his hands kept me from falling limp the second time. A headache grew in my skull, bashing my brain as though with a mallet, as I struggled with confusion. I had become the embodiment of a flurry of rapid emotions. I was suddenly embittered, hurt, saddened; sullen and reeling from betrayal. I felt so downtrodden and broken beyond repair. "There's still a lot I need you to know, so please take it easy Myra... I just need you to keep yourself in the chair long enough..." Flanagan explained. "I'll take you somewhere else

Noah's PovI could hear the blue doves squawk back into focus; right over my head and up into the sky, as I stood there reeling from Colin's statement. I had said the exact same thing, but his tone had made it carry a different weight that slammed me into the ground even though I was still standing.I felt weightless, and as a flurry of birds swooped around, it felt like the wind would carry me with them.I didn't know how to react and I paused, with my head down to my feet and my hand going through my hair. But as I heard the sound of his footsteps fade farther away, I suddenly raised myself up and chased after him."Hey, hold on!..."I ran and in a few paces I caught up to him. I reached up ahead and in front of the craggy path, then blocked him again with my hands."Look, Colin...I'm sorry okay..." I said, drifting to a stop. "I just have a lot bothering me right now, and I feel I'm way in over my head..." I explained. "I'm stressed because I'm just not sure if I can handle all th

Myra's Pov I was being assured, but I knew I wouldn't be fine. Because I knew the world wasn't made for me. I knew life was supposed to be hard, but my own adversities seemed to be baked by the devil himself in Hell's kitchen.I was raised in chaos, forced to live in chaos, and now destined by fate to die in chaos? A happy ending isn't it? A nice little crescendo to a beautiful asylum song? A blessing even?..."I need you to understand that my first attempt failed..." Flanagan said now, and solemn. His countenance was stern and he looked as calculated as a jaguar. He held a mixture of annoyance, regret and reflection on his face. And the combination made his features arch and crease in intermittent directions."The first uprising was a sham, and we were barreled through with ease..." he said, shaking his head. “Counter attacked and laid waste to…”He had moved from me and was now standing a few feet away, with his arms gesturing his words. Noah's PovI stood frozen in shock as my eyes stared in disbelief. I couldn't move, and for almost ten seconds, as my breath seemed to hang from the ceiling like the chandelier in the middle of the room.I stared confused, having my eyes gaze on a dark crescent with four spheres riddled over seemingly a million canvases. My mind ran insane with thoughts, and I stood there, stopped in my tracks even though I had walked into the room. The sight before me suddenly disabled my sense of time, as I found myself rooted in space; blinded by what I never expected to see. I was tone deaf as all I now heard was only the revolving wheel of questions powering through my consciousness like a steam train.I moved my eyes, too bombarded to move anything else, glancing around the room, and seeing only walls of white covered in black lines. There was nothing else in the room. No chairs. No table. No bed. Nothing. It was just a white room filled with vague-detailed illustrations. And the only thing goin

Myra's PovHe walked up to me steadily, almost carefully, like he was afraid he would step on the pieces of broken glass from all of Flanagan's outbursts. I could see his eyes still glow emerald above the candle light, and his tattoos glimmer in the brightness. As he moved towards me with a slight limp, and almost the same as Flanagan, strutting rudderly; and I thought maybe in fear the cloth covering his loins would fall off and embarrass him.His smile stayed fixed however, and as it remained wide, his rotten teeth displayed themselves in full glory. I stiffened in my seat as he drew closer and with his hands coming forward to touch me. And I gasped as I saw his brown stained claws retract forward then touch my skin. He squinted, and ran the jagged tip in a line across my face till he reached my jaw, then cupped my face with one hand."Been a rather long time since our last meeting..." he smiled, scanning over my face. "And it seems you've grown into more knowledge than previously..

Noah's Pov I didn't know when I made straight to the door and out to the backyard; dropping the box above the fireplace and jogging in a haste to fetch the water hose. My mind was going in circles as I ran in a straight line to the back of the house. And as I reached the pipe, I unloosened its folded frame and pulled it along, running back up to the living room.I stood in front of Colin with the pipe now reaching all the way and pointing at his face. I didn't know if what I wanted to do would work, and I was worried because he had been unconscious for such a long time. But then I unscrewed the cap and showered him with enough water to flood a village. He didn't move at first, and the couch along with his clothes were merely being soaked to the skin. Then I frowned and turned the lever; increasing the pressure, and the water splashed and splattered on his face till he jerked up, eyes wide and coughing.I held back the lever and turned the water off, as he coughed and coughed himsel

Noah's PovThe last moments were glorious. The flash of white and the deafening sound of a strange ringing that pierced through my ears was divine. As a huge monster, and one bigger than anything I had ever laid my eyes on stood just ahead of me. Towering over seemingly all existence like a god in the flesh. It's height was closer to the sun than the clouds themselves; and if it made the effort, it's head alone in the right position could cause an eclipse. The sound of it's footsteps were like bombs dropping intermittently. And the claws that grew out of it's hands and body were the size of spears; the tips specifically sharpened for killing dragons. With it's skin white as chalk and scaly as a fish's hide.I laid flat on my back as Flanagan's blade had stopped halfway at the sound of the creature's roar. I was saved. And I stayed motionless; reeling in pain from the excess gratitude. The monster roared again, and the leader of the Rogues stood with his mouth agape as he dropped his

As I lost full control of myself, and my wolf instincts took full control of my entire being.Colin's loud yelling had attracted surprisingly hundreds of guards. But sadly they all ended in a similar fate. As I tore through and out of the dungeons with rage being my fuel and motivation. I chopped off heads and dismembered arms and legs, leaving corpses in my wake as I burst out into the sunlight. Only dimmed by smoke from burning houses and soldiers trampling stalls with maces.I roared loud and everyone's attention turned to me frantically. They all drew their swords with fear in their eyes as they looked up at me towering over them. I laid waste to more than I could count. As they kept coming in waves after wavesand kept dying in the same succession. My anger had reached a point never before seen, and now I was thirsty for blood. And blood did flow...As I tore through entire

"Personal interest, isn't it obvious?..." "What did they promise you?" And now he laughed loudly. His voice booming as it reverberated across the hollow and cold walls of the dungeon. He chuckled and held himself with both hands clasped together, smiling. "They didn't promise me anything, Noah..." he replied. "Well they did. But that was simply a superficial desire. Because I'm not here for anything they can offer..." he answered. "They don't even possess anything of my interest to give. Because as it stands... everything is already mine." My hands were hurting and now my soul was burning. I was confused as to why Colin could be working with the enemy? I was losing blood flow in my arms as I wondered why my own frien

Noah's PovI regained my consciousness in pure darkness. The only light being the torches that spread out amongst gray walls, giving vision as little as bird seed. The side of my head hurt with a sharp pain as blood flowed down my face, trickling to the floor. I felt dizzy and every part of my body hurt. I couldn't see, so I tried to move my hands. But the only sound I heard was the creaking of bones and the jingling of metal. I frowned as I slowly craned my neck upwards. And found myself being held captive by a set of chains connected to the damp wall behind me. I shook my head in pain and frustration, realizing I wasn't just in this place, wherever it was. But I was stuck here too.My mind went through its own pain as I suddenly thought of what had happened? Where am I now? And if we had lost? The fight was something I vaguely remembered. And the only thing that stood out was the impact I made before everything went black. Noah's Pov I released a yell as I lunged forward; swinging my sword with all my weight behind it. I didn't aim. I didn't plan. I just moved to strike. And learnt too late that that was ignorant. As I saw him dodge the blow and myself become open for one. When I felt the full force of the steel fist he sent to my ribs. That cracked them in pieces like twigs.I fell to the floor, coughing blood. And air left my lungs as if it was being pumped out of my body. The pain was immense and it shot through my entire frame, making me keel over on the sand. Shellshocked. The horseman walked up to me till he got close enough to stand over me. I could see him smile down as I groaned in pain and his mouth revealed a row of jagged teeth. He held his sword by his side, then slowly sheathed it back. Now folding his arms and squinting at me.“Your time has come Alpha…” his baritone voice boomed. “I suggest you give up now while you still can, and maybe you'll be spared.” he said.”You are not winning

Noah's Pov I grinned as I stood up slowly. Then got up to my feet and smiled wide, nodding to the boy in respect. As he had just saved me the vain effort of chasing down a phoenix. He nodded back and as the man wanted to get up the second time; Danny instantaneously turned, aimed and fired again. Taking him to the ground in a louder groan.I was surprised at his speed. As I didn't see anything happen until the arrow had already hit its target. The boy folded his hand in a fist and gestured in victory. As the man on the floor now fell flat on his face.“I did it Alpha!” Danny yelled now. “I took him out!” he jumped, celebrating.“I did it!”He jumped and threw fists in the air, and even dropped his bow and did a dance in between. But I frowned as I would have loved to believe that too...Because the two arrows had landed closely together, and now looked like antennas sticking out of the man's back. And my brows raised in confusion and doubt. As I didn't believe he could be taken out t

Noah's PovTWO CYCLES LATERThe day the war began was one I would never soon forget. The day the morning sun became a gloomy circle in the sky. And the wind blew strong and rough; almost changing its form to the waves of a raging storm.I was out on the field with a regiment of men at the forefront, while reinforcements laid hiding in plain sight. I held my sword and shield, but they felt burdensome. As I hadn't held even a stick in a good year.Yet I stood at the gates of the pack house. Directly in front. Holding the fort as the leader. And desirous to land the first kill. My blood was pumping, adrenaline raging and annoyance building. I was here to fight alongside my men, and to the death if it meant it.We had spread out in units; some on the ground, some in the trees, and some underground. The plan had been relayed, reiterated, and understood. And the day to implement had come. It was finally time. The moment of truth. The day of Reckoning…I felt strange yet confident. As inside

And it hurt me to see her sick and forlorn. Because she was important and I needed her. I could sense she had a versatile power in her. And one that would be important to our victory.Yet now she has been sidelined and put aside by illness...And Colin was to pay.My anger doubled as I powered down and reached the men.
