I wake up feeling the worst I ever felt.

As I try to prop myself up onto my forearms, a stingy pain on my back gets me to fall back onto the soft mattress with a cry of pain.

My wounds must have opened again, and I claw onto the satin bed sheets, trying to take a few calming breaths as I hear a rustling sound, causing panic to ripple through me.

The bed dips and I turn around to see a petite woman climb on the bed while shushing, obviously trying to soothe me. “Shh, Stellina. Everything is good now. Please, don’t move too much. I’ve applied an ointment on your wounds, and it has to dry a bit more to take its effect. I know it’s not comfortable at all. I’m so sorry about this.”

I look at her, inexplicably calming down at her words immediately.

Must be a hell of a training those human traffickers get.
