Call for help

Danielle

“Danielle, finally. What the hell took you so long?” he answers my call grumpily.

“Erm, Hi. Well, nothing.” I sit down on the board of the bathtub and look at the door. “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to disturb you. I haven’t read your texts yet. I had quite a lot to do at work and with uni.”

“Bullshit, Danielle. I know that you quit already and I’ve been looking for you at uni. Your profs said you haven’t been there for days. I respected your wish not to come and barge in the door but I’m losing my patience here, damn it! Is everything alright?”

“No. I mean, yes. I don’t know.” I rub my hand up and down my thighs covered by my jeans. “I’m sorry it's probably nothing. I shouldn’t have called you. I’m awfully sorry if I disrupted your work.”

I hear him sigh deeply and I look to the door once again. “Tell me anyway!”

I gulp before stuttering awkwardly, not knowing how to tell him what is happening as I don’t even understand it myself. “I- There- A man is here. He is drinking wine
