“Here,” he says casually, passing me the card he took out of the envelope. “I guess you will need that.”

I laugh as I take the key. “Oh, so you won’t keep me locked up in your fancy castle?”

“Not unless you want me to,” he jokes, getting out of the car.

I put the key into my wallet and follow him to the elevators. “Not really, no. I’m so close to getting my degree, but afterwards, I don’t care.”

“Don’t give me strange ideas, Danielle.” He grins at me, making me chuckle.

He lets me open the apartment with my new key to check once again if it works and as I close the door behind us, I still can’t shake the feeling off that something just feels awkward. “Are we going out for lunch?”

I try to ease up the situation and he nods, not really helping me. “If you want to.”

Stepping into my way as I’m about to make a beeline to the wardrobe and change into something else, he makes my heart halt in my chest. “But I have to show you something first. Come with me.”
