Chapter 34. Move Closer
Evangeline was escorted along with Doctor Vandross to explain her health situation. Despite her confusion, Eva remained silent in her position as her new boss insisted on a fresh health inspection.
“I am happy to report that Ms. Alexander is in good health. No worries; she's OK.” Doctor Vandross reported to Gabriel. Somehow, Gabriel's anxious demeanor frightened Eva. Even though it was her first day, Eva still didn't feel that she belonged to the place.
"Then what became of her?" Gabriel was insistent. Doctor Vandross continued repeating his initial response because he was committed to it.
“Nothing. Ms. Alexander is healthy.” Gabriel strongly disagreed. As Cheyne fixed his gaze on the doctor, he abruptly cleared his throat. He seemed to be humming something about what he would like the doctor to say regarding Eva's period.
