Chapter 233: Awakening His Self

“Dicken… It’s me… Linda!”

I struggled to call out to him, even as tears welled in my eyes from the pain as the tentacle flailed around in my mouth. It left my vision blurring even as I looked into Dicken’s jet-black eyes, and attempted to awaken his self.

The despair and desperation in the face of death seemed to ignite my potential, and my merfolk strength seemed to be bursting out of my body. I could even feel sharp claws extending out of my skin, resisting Dicken’s control by instinct and eventually allowing me to free one hand.

I knew that I should defend myself with those nails, but I was worried that I would hurt him because I didn’t know my strength, reducing the chance of Dicken coming to his senses. In addition, I couldn’t call out to the other crew on the ship for help, because that would either lead to Dicken’s capture, or the entire crew becoming his food.
