...Damian POV...
I couldn't believe what was happening right now. One moment, everything was ok. The next, everything seemed to go to complete hell. I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience right now. I was too stunned to realize what was really happening. The woman that had single-handedly changed my life was now being held at gunpoint. I desperately wanted to get her out of there, but I couldn't figure out how. I had hoped that by stalling, the police would have enough time to get there. So while I listened to what was going on, I texted Zach and Zane to let them know what was happening. I was stuck at a traffic light. However, traffic didn't seem to be moving.
Zach informed me that he had contacted the police, and they should be there soon. I knew that was a lie because I've been trying to get there for twenty minutes now. Traffic was at a complete standstill.

I was driving myself insane. After we got to the hospital, the doctors rushed her into surgery. I had to look away from her at one point. She had been shot four times. Once on her arm, one in her leg, in her shoulder, and another near her heart. It was the bullet near her heart we were all worried about. There was no exit wound, which meant the bullet was still inside her. Not only that but because of using the AED, there was a good chance the bullet may have shifted, causing her internal bleeding. After I dropped Jessica off at her place, I had to make a few phone calls. I wanted to arrange a meal service for Jessica. It was the least I could do. I didn't want her to either skip meals or have to worry about making them. I wanted to try and help her as much as I could. ...Damian POV...Nearly two weeks have gone past since the incident. I haven't left her side once. I was thankful for my brother, as he managed to upgrade her room, including providing her with a queen-sized mattress. Zane also had a laptop sent over so that I could work from here. Then, in the evening, I would sleep next to her, placing her head gently on my chest. I would talk to her throughout the day in hopes that she would get better. ...Haley POV...The next few weeks flew by, and I couldn't be more grateful for Damian. He had me move into his condo since his was bigger than mine. He hired a crew to move anything of mine into his place so that I would feel at home. He offered me my own room, but I opted to stay with him instead. It was the only way I felt safe. When I would sleep, I often had nightmares of the shooting.
