"You're right, I did all those things to you but, all I'm trying to do is protect you!" I screamed.

Melody looked at me puzzled. I'm even a little puzzled by my words. Protect her? Protect her from what? She was fine at her house, she hadn't had the best life. So, truly, what am I protecting her from?

"Protect me? The one thing I really need protection from right now is you! You have no right to say that to me. You're the reason I need protection in the first place!" Melody shouted.

"That's what I said, yes you're right you do need to be protected from me. But you have no idea what kind of world you now live in, Melody! Mafias..." I started.

"I do now! Oh, thanks for that, by the way! I was perfectly fine living my life not knowing what was happening around me with my parents and things going on in my house! I didn't ask for any of this, Liam. Not only that, but I don't want anything to do with this lifestyle. And now, thanks to you, I am!"

"I know that Melody..."

"Do you know Liam?"

"I wasn't done talking, Melody," I shouted. Everyone hates being cut off, especially if you're in a mafia, and you have to run one. Patience is something I can't afford to have.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was speaking with royalty." Melody stated doing a slight bow, "I'm done with this conversation, I told you I'm not telling you anything, so leave me alone." She walked away from me and walked into the bathroom, locking herself inside.

I also didn't like being talked to like this. I certainly don't like people thinking that the conversation is over just because they walk off. That's not how a conversation finishes. Not in my book.

I walked quickly over to the bathroom and banged on the door.

"Melody, open the damn door," I ordered.

"Leave me the hell alone, Liam. I may be stuck in this house until you have no use for me but, I am not your property or one of your henchmen."

"If you do not open this door, I will knock it down myself."

She unlocked the door and gave me a slight glare, "listen to me carefully, Liam." Melody said, "you threatened my best friend's life, whom I may never see again. Before that, you threatened my family and killed Mack, and probably countless others. So let me be perfectly clear with you, I'm not telling you anything and if you want information from me, you're going to have to torture it out of me. And as we both know, I can take it."

"How would I know?" I stupidly asked. I knew how I know. There's no way she knows how I know.

"You found out every little detail of the layout of my house, found out where Thea lives. So, I'm sure you researched every little detail of my life, and that includes my past. Why ask me questions you already have the answers to? It's quite ridiculous.”

"Things are missing the day he died. In a car crash. It says that he was driving and ran into a tree, but the car itself was upside-down and nowhere near any trees. And they say that the car was hit by another car, but no other car was said to be on the scene. So tell me Melody what happened." I asked.

"I..." Melody stopped, looking confused at what I had just said. I can tell she was trying to put pieces together in her mind.

"You don't remember, do you?" I asked.

She looked up at me, "no." That was all Melody could manage to say.

------

"You don't remember, do you?" Liam asked. I looked up at him and can tell he was trying to hold back a smirk. It's not working.

"No," I mumbled.

Liam didn't push the matter further. He knows about my past, and now I need to know what happened that day.

At one point I'd managed to disconnect the camera and got the door unlocked and snuck out but got caught quickly, and they'd brought me to Liam's office.

I walked in, and he seemed to be doing a lot of work. I tried turning around but fell backward running into the bodyguard. He quickly walked right next to the door and I just sat there. Well, not long, though. The floor isn't very comfortable.

Liam was ignoring me, and it was far too quiet. I decided to sit down in one of the chairs that sat across from his desk. And holy cow these chairs felt super comfortable, more comfortable than the floor. I glanced and saw a picture of a younger him and two adults. Most likely his parents. It read underneath James, Sarah, and Liam King.

"We had an agreement. You stayed here, and I won't harm anyone you know. Why risk it?" Liam asked. He was now looking at me. I could tell he was upset. He nodded toward the guys who'd brought me here, and they both left, leaving only him and me.

"I want to know what happened that day...yes, I don't remember anything but the bits and pieces that I do have, don't make sense to me." I blurted out.

He got out of his chair and came and kneeled in front of me like I was a child.

"I'll take care of it."

He stood up and went towards the door and opened it. I quickly got up and went towards him. He tried ushering me out. Hint tried. I slammed the door and looked at Liam and could tell I had just angered him further.

"Listen, pal, I get it, you have a whole mafia to help you with whatever you want," I stated. All Liam did was nod in agreement, "here's the thing, the things you told me about the car didn't completely make sense until later."

Liam leaned up against the door, "and what would that be?"

"I will tell you if you do one favor for me. Think of it as a trade."

"What do you want?"

"Well, the clothes you have aren't even my size and some of them look like kid's clothes."

"The outfit you have on seems fine." Liam nodded at my outfit. A smile smirk crossed his face.

Oh, crap. I was still in the stupid cute PJ outfit.

"Fine, I'll figure out something else on my own," I said. I hoped he'd be curious enough to see what I had to say. As I put my hand on the doorknob when I felt his hand on top of mine.

"Deal. What is it?"

Hook, line, and sinker.

"Deal." I quickly said. I intended to go shopping for her this week anyway. At least this way, I get something out of it. "We can talk in the kitchen, I thought you might be hungry." She nodded, and we walked towards the kitchen I had Savanna make us some dinner. She made a mean steak and potatoes. We only sat in silence for a few minutes before our food arrived. After we finished eating, I looked at Melody. She seemed to be pondering something. But I want to know what kind of stupid deal I made with her."Talk," I ordered. "Okay, the first year I dated..." Melody stuttered. She was still having a hard time saying his name, I guess. She took a deep breath trying to relax her nerves, "When I dated him, he'd lock me in his room when a few friends came over.""Okay, they probably didn't want them to look at you." I shrugged my shoulders. I mean, I'd do the same thing with certain people. Especially with how beautiful she is. Wait, did I just say that? She shifted in her seat a little

That was just a horrible dream... nothing that night happened. I told Liam a little bit about Tom and went straight to bed.I woke up and tried stretching and getting ready for the day, but I felt my hands not moving, and my legs wouldn't let me stand up.And why is my mouth feeling funny?I looked down and saw my legs and hands tied...again. And the funny feeling on my mouth was none other than duct tape. Why do they have to keep doing that? Haven't they heard of a simple knockout?I started moving my arms and legs, trying to get myself free. I stopped and started screaming as loud as I could, the duct tape muffling the sound. After what felt like hours, I finally stopped and waited for someone to see that I was missing.I have no idea what time it even is. There wasn't a clock in here, the door was closed shut. I started hearing screaming through the house, and it sounded like it echoed throughout the whole house. Like we were in a cave.Suddenly, the doorknob in my room violently

I still can't believe that Melody hugged me, and cried in my arms. And when she did, I hugged her back and started stroking her hair, calming her down.Melody had decided to go and shower and grabbed the first pair of clothes she could find and took them into the bathroom with her.Her eyes were puffy, and her hair seemed crazy. She said he'd pulled on her hair and dragged her to the closet. I pushed the matter, and she started crying again, but even more this time. I wanted to keep comforting her and want to have her in my arms again. She also told me that he'd left a piece of paper on her bed for me. I walked out of her room with the note and headed to my office. Once I sat down, I pulled out the letter. Liam, War is coming. And you and I will meet. Hopefully, Melody updated you on what I said. Nothing will stop me from doing what I want. If you ask yourself what that might be, well let me tell you. I want your mafia, I want Melody's parent's mafia. And during or sometime after, w

"Melody?" The person asked. When I looked up at Charlie and another guy standing next to him. I stood up and ran in the other direction. Charlie's hand grabbed mine. Knowing I'd run off from a mafia dude isn't smart. But I can't face him! He stood there and watched Liam, that person. It even looked like he enjoyed watching it."Melody, look at me!" Charlie demanded. I looked at him and yanked my hand away from his."Why'd you run off?" The other guy asked."This is Jensen, he's an ass," Charlie added."Am not," Jensen grumbled.I looked at both of them and I don't even have the words to say anything."Melody, why'd you run away from us?" Charlie repeated Jensen's question. He inched towards me, but I quickly stepped back. I saw it click in both Charlie and Jensen's brain that I was the intruder."Melody, please tell me..." Charlie started.I quickly cut him off, "Just stop it, Charlie! Yes, I did see that man. Yes, I saw what Liam did. By the way, it smelled like rotten flesh in there!

After I slammed the door, I just moved away from and collapsed on the floor, slowly letting tears fall. I waited for Liam to come into 'my' room and yell at me more. But he never barged in. I didn't like the way he spoke to me. It reminded me far too much of how Tom used to treat me. When he asked if I'd give Tom another chance, he was definitely out of line.Instead of taking me shopping today, he took me out the next day, we bought so much. I told him I didn't need so much. But he just said buy what you want, and then we will leave. That's all he said to me that day. When we got back, the whole closet was filled. Not one spot was empty. Two months later.A month and a half ago, Liam and I made a deal. Whenever I wanted to get out of my room, someone would follow me. But even when I was in my room, someone was always posted outside my door.So today I'm going to explore the house a little bit. Two weeks later.Liam and I are currently walking around the backyard. He wanted to show me the flowers. Said I needed fresh air, and maybe company."Hey Melody, are you doing okay today?" Liam asked. Guess he isn't going to do anything that's going to hurt me. "Yeah, I'm fine." I looked over at Liam and looked into his eyes, "Liam please let Calvin go." I pleaded.Liam sighed, "I'll think about it, Melody." Liam said, grabbing my hand. When he grabbed my arm it sent butterflies in my stomach. I smiled at him, "for right now, that's all I can ask for."There was a moment of silence between us. He glanced down at my lips and I quickly looked away and yanked my hand from his."Well, I'm starving. Want to go get breakfast?" I asked, breaking the silence between us."Yeah, me too." Liam agreed. It was around lunchtime, I was craving French Toast while he wanted eggs on toast. That's when we decided to have Brunch. Once we walked out of the dining room, I elbowed him. I can't stop laughing at all of there faces. Four of the five were beyond pissed. While Bane tried to look that way, he just was shaking so much. Now the next person on my list is Wilson. The next time he logs in his computer, any technology that can't hurt them will be disconnected. I made sure that any software that had classified information, was secure. Just cause I'm mad, doesn't mean I won't ruin any secrets they have. Come on, I'm not that cruel. ---Wilson's POV"Wilson, I want you to do the exact opposite of what Melody just said." Liam ordered. I slowly nodded, as he had people return all these animals back home. He's actually got a soft spot for every animal. As the five of us walked into my sacred space, I started logging into my computer. The second I pressed enter, it shut down. "No!" I shouted."What just happened?" Liam asked. "Must. Have. Technology. At. All. Time." I panicked. My heart started beating faster and faster. Every second I didn't have technology, the

Charlie's breathing became heavier, "There could've been another way.""Yeah, it's to late now." I sadly said. Charlie noticed my tone in voice, patting me on the back."Liam, we're going to get her back." Charlie comforted me."Get Calvin upstairs. Have a doctor look at him. Me and Calvin need to have a talk.Four hours later. Ferrell texted me saying that he was up.I cleared my throat gaining his attention, "Sorry to interrupt, but I'd like to talk to you for a moment. If that's okay." "It's alright." Calvin said."Um, well my first question is do you know where they're taking her?" I asked."I don't, I'm sorry."My mind at that moment went blank. How could he not know."What do you mean you don't know where they're taking her?" I asked."Exactly that. I don't know where she's going or

"Hey mom, hey dad." I greeted walking into the kitchen."Hey sweetie, I made your favorite." My mom said putting a scrambled egg with two chocolate chip pancakes with it. And even put the best thing with it.Hash Browns. You can't go wrong with Hash Browns. "Have you seen dad, mom?" I asked glancing around the kitchen."He had some work he needed to do first.""What's up, Mrs. Fawson!" Thea shouted, barging into the house. That girl has no personal space."Hi, Thea." My mom slightly groaned. She's not a big fan of Thea. My father doesn't like her either which isn't surprising. Thea's got one of those personalities that is a tad harder to handle. Nonetheless, she's my best friend. She's the only reason why I go to school. As I finished my breakfast I noticed how fancy my mom looked. She was in one of her nicer outfits."Where are you going, mom?" I asked grabbing my backpack."Oh, I and your father are meeting with some friends. We're discussing a business opportunity today.""Oh with

I woke up, doing my morning routine. As I saw myself in the mirror. Dark circles started forming underneath my eyes. I looked exhausted and looked like I was about to kill someone. The second I thought that I decided I needed to blow some steam off. And when I mean blow steam off, I'm going to the gym. After I started my workout, I didn't stop until my hands were bleeding badly and started to bruise. I jumped in the shower that was near the gym and stayed in there for who knows how long. Once I jumped out, I put on new clothes that I'd brought with me. I then grabbed the first aid kit that was stashed away in case of blood and bruises. Which I have.I walked out of the gym and headed towards the tech room and saw something...unexpected.Wilson and Emily making out. They didn't seem to notice me, so I cleared my throat. They both looked at me and they both pushed away from each other. "Look, sir..." Wilson started before I cut him off."You can do whatever you want. Both of you are

Charlie! I felt relieved that he was okay. I hope his arms are okay, though. "Well, I was hoping you'd be out for a while longer," Payton admitted.I heard a slight chuckle from Charlie, "I was never out. Nick sucks at knocking people out.""I will shoot him." Payton threatened."You even try pulling the trigger, you will be dead before you blink an eye." Charlie threatened back. I got pulled back a bit by Nick, further away from Payton and Charlie."What are you..." I started but got cut off when Nick's hand covered my mouth."If you want anyone you care about to survive, you're going to do exactly what I say..." Nick whispered. He leaned directly next to my ear, his hot breath on my ear and a little on my neck, "I know Mack is on the driver's side of the van..."Mack? What's he doing here?"He's betrayed us one too many times for my taste. Here's what you're going to do. You're going to distract him while I knock him out. If you don't help me, I'll kill Mack first. My heart started to beat so fast that my heart was going to jump out. I don't know how I'm supposed to be taking all of this. Am I supposed to say, 'Do what he wants' or, 'Don't listen to him! He's going to kill me and you, regardless of what you do.' This is why I don't develop feelings for people anymore. I've had my heart repeatedly broken, and I don't know how much more heartbreak I can take. "What's it going to be, Mr. King, helping me or fight for love? Especially when you know, regardless of what, I'll get what I want either way."Liam looked at me directly in the eyes, with what I saw in his eyes was they were dark and clouded. His face completely calm and showed no emotion. He didn't seem to have any sign that he cared what could happen next. That Liam didn't mean it when he said I love you.And that last thought terrified me to my core. I'm not ready to die! I'm 21! "Follow me." Liam grumbled. He quickly turned around towards the door and just walked out. Nick went out,

My father was holding my girl away from me...my girl! I don't care if he's family, she's family...she's my home.Home.I looked at Melody and her eyes were all red and a tad bit puffy. She seemed to have calmed down a bit, which is good. I don't need her doing something ridiculous that's going to possibly get her hurt or killed. I don't know what I'd do if she was hurt even more by them. And if she died right here, I know I'll never be the same again. I eyed Payton closely, just as Charlie had been doing. I could see it in his eyes, the way he watched each step Payton took and where Payton's eyes were at. Unfortunately, they were either at me or Melody. "Charlie, have a seat...please." Payton ordered, a smirk forming on his face.I looked at Charlie from the corner of my eye and saw all the color from his face immediately drain. We both knew what could happen to us if we didn't listen to Payton, but the thing that scared me the most was what he could do to Melody.Charlie considere

It's been a few minutes since I left her there alone with Payton. My gut told me minutes ago to rush in there to make sure she was fine. I heard yelling in there. I almost went in there, but Charlie tapped my shoulder, telling me to wait. So, I decided to listened to him and stay put. "Liam, come in here, please!" Melody shouted. I touched the door handle and that feeling that something was wrong increased significantly. As we entered the room, I noticed that Payton had gotten out of his chair and was covering Melody's mouth with one hand. His other hand had a knife near her throat.Charlie and I went for our guns when a sob came from Melody. Payton had put it right at her throat. It was close enough that if she moved, she was a goner. We both moved our hands away from our guns, and he moved the knife a bit away from her throat. I looked more closely at her and saw both hands were behind her back, while her eyes were red and puffy. Why would he do this to her? I thought he loved he

I started to wake up to someone yelling. And it wasn't just me who woke up. Bane, Ferrell, Charlie, and Anthony had also woken up. We all turned our heads towards Melody, who was screaming and crying in her sleep. All of us shot up from our spots and raced towards her. "Melody wake up." I calmly pleaded. If it isn't bad, maybe that should wake her up. She didn't wake up. Just more tears streamed down her face."Please stop!" She pleaded."What the heck is she dreaming about?" Bane asked."HOW THE HELL WOULD I KNOW! IT'S NOT LIKE I CAN READ MINDS OR SEE INTO PEOPLE'S MINDS!" I shouted."Yes, I... I understand." She mumbled. A few moments later, she started crying harder than before.Screw this."MELODY WAKE UP!" I shouted. Her eyes opened quickly, and she gave us all a blank stare."Mel, are you okay?" I asked. She didn't say anything and as I was just about to say it again she started to scream again."Stay away from me!" She shouted at a the wall behind us.We all looked to where sh

Looking at the view from the sky, I wondered one thing.Would I survive jumping out of a plan this high up without a parachute? Like, honestly, I'd give anything just to get away from them. They've been nothing but cruel to me the second I met them. Honestly, I don't feel welcome at the moment. Especially, every time I shifted in my seat, they all looked at me as if I were going to do something stupid. Which I might if I'm being honest with myself. "You know you should get some sleep." I turned around to see that it was Charlie who had said that."I'm okay." I mumbled. Charlie just sighed and didn't push me to sleep on the flight any further. Which I'm grateful for, especially since I'm not even tired. Okay, maybe just a little tired. But I'm not sleeping on this flight or anywhere near them. Payton and I are gonna escape with Nick, Clark, and James and then that's when I'll sleep. Well, possibly if they don't kill them first. Which is a very slim chance at this point. The weird
