The weather in March was not that good at that particular moment. A twenty-year-old girl was seen sitting by the window looking at rain flowing down. Her fifteen-meter room had a lit bulb that barely burned to illuminate the room. Her white pale hands, with calluses from doing home chores, were holding a needle and a dress, trying to mend her already worn-out dress. Her room was just barely managed with only a chair, a bed, and a single cupboard.

She was still mending her clothes when the door to her room banged open, and a brown-haired girl was standing at the door. The girl’s eyes were filled with disdain as she looked all over the room before her eyes landed on the girl sitting near the windows. She closed her nose as if the room was smelling badly. "Aren’t you ready yet, or do you want to make Mom and I wait?" Her voice was low but threatening, making the girl look up. The bright blue eyes made the girl standing at the door clench her fist.

"No sister, I was just mending the clothes I was going to wear." Her voice was eerily calm, as if the smoothest sea hides the fiercest torrent. "We are attending high society ceremonies where celebrities and businessmen attend. Do you intend on shaming us by wearing those shabby dresses of yours? Take this and wear." With that said, she threw the dress on the girl sitting on the chair and left.

The girl got up, picked up the gown from the floor, and wore it. The red dress reached her ankles enough to hide her shabby shoes. She picked up her phone to inform her best friend that she won’t be around for the rest of the night since she is accompanying her aunt and cousin for a ceremony. And with that done, she left the room. Her eyes squinted a bit from the sudden light from the hallway as she walked down the stairs.

She encountered her uncle which made her bow down her head until she trespassed him and hurried down the stairs. As she made her way to the door leading outside the house, she saw two women standing by—one old enough to be at least forty years old, wearing a dark green dress with a white shawl wrapped around her shoulders and a pair of two-inch high heels.

The other girl, slightly older than her by three years, wore a yellow fish-length dress that accentuated enough curves. Her hair was held in a high ponytail to expose her slender neck, and her 3-inch high heels were well hidden under the dress to make her appear regal. They were happily chatting until they spotted the girl in red dress standing at the stairway who destroyed their little happy moment.

They sized up the girl from head to toe—her wavy black hair held in a single braid hanging on her shoulder, and the red dress accentuating her white skin—but what drew them in were her bright blue eyes that were as calm as peaceful waves of the sea.

As they waited for someone to arrive, they headed straight for the car. Before boarding, the oldest turned toward Aurora with sharp black eyes. "Aurora, as you’re going with us for the first time, you better behave. I hope I’m very clear." Aurora nodded and mumbled "yes aunty." Seeing that the message was well passed through, she boarded the car with her daughter sitting near her while Aurora headed to sit near the driver.

Twenty minutes later

They arrived in front of the hotel where the ceremony would be held. As they exited the car, Aurora and her cousin Nana stood at the side of the car while their aunt was giving instructions to the driver. Nana leaned over to Aurora and whispered, "As you're here, make yourself scarce, okay? And don't get in my way." With that, she straightened her posture and clasped her hands in front of her, waiting for her mother obediently. After their aunt finished giving instructions and the driver left, she held onto her daughter's hand and entered first, leaving Aurora to follow closely behind.

The location of the ceremony itself was a mile away from the entrance, so it took them more than five minutes to reach their desired destination. Nana's makeup was smudged from sweating, so she decided to quickly fix it before entering. As expected, the ballroom was like a whole different dimension. It was large enough to accommodate at least a thousand people. The room was well-refreshed with air conditioning hanging on every corner to prevent heat, and the windows were also half open, providing a good view of the city and part of the garden.

The room was bustling with people chatting happily, other couples dancing to the music's rhythm, and servants maneuvering between guests while serving champagne. They took in their surroundings until the aunt turned towards Aurora and said, "You must follow my daughter's instructions, understood." With that, she patted her daughter's hand and left.

Some minutes later, Michael was done leaving the place for Aurora to take her own bath. She immediately bathed and, covering herself with a towel, walked into the room just across and took out a black dress and wore it. Then she carefully took care of her hair. When she was done, she got out of the dressing room. He stared at her for what felt like minutes, then stretched out his hand and said, “Come, let's go and take breakfast.” She got up from her seat, showing no intention of taking it. True, he was her husband, but for the moment they were just strangers bound by a marriage contract.Michael placed his hand back in his pocket. He didn’t feel at all offended. He opened the door and walked out. Aurora followed suit, her eyes not looking left or right but fixated on Michael’s back. They walked until they reached the stairs and descended them. He guided her into the dining room, where he helped her to sit on his right, and he took the head. When he was comfortable, he clapped his han

He felt her shiver and removed his coat, draping it on her, and then he picked her up and placed her on his laps, her head resting on his chest. He looked at her for a while before looking at the window. The car drove for hours more before reaching the manor. They entered a huge gate, then drove for a few minutes more before stopping in front of the entrance to the house. Many men were all lined up, waiting for the master of the house to grace them with his presence.Michael got out of the car, Aurora in his hands. All the men bowed down while greeting, “Welcome back, Master.”Michael ignored them and strode in with his wife, leaving all the men perplexed, question marks expressed on their faces. ‘Who is that woman?’Michael strode into the house. It was luxurious; the decoration was simple. All the living room furniture was either purple or white, while the walls were all white. He immediately climbed the steps; his bedroom was at the end of the corridor. He entered the room and plac

The ones with the lowest income earners are not counted, but socialites are ranked from A to C, and the Greyharts family falls among the class B socialites, while the Noels family are ranked among class C.Vicky knows him so well because her father forced her to memorize the face of people she cannot afford to offend, and so, if she is coming from class B socialites, then the Romano family are out of her league — the type you can only meet once in a lifetime — but her friend got married to the sole young master of the Romanos. One thing she is sure of is that Aurora’s peaceful life will be gone. They stayed in silence until Aurora’s stomach grumbled. That is when she remembered that she didn’t have breakfast. Vicky smiled while shaking her head; she immediately signaled for Aurora to go and wash herself while Vicky busied herself in the kitchen. Twenty minutes later, Aurora was at the table gobbling the food as if it was her last.Vicky, looking at her side: “Why are you eating so fas

He immediately arrived in front of them, and his eyes instantly fell on Aurora. He was stunned— even the plain dress could not hide her allure, especially her striking blue eyes. But under Michael’s murderous gaze, he quickly lowered his head in a hurry.“Greetings, young master. The documents are ready.”Without once raising his head, he opened the file, pointed out the places where signatures were required, and handed it over.Michael took the documents, signed them swiftly, and then passed them to Aurora. She hesitated for a moment, staring at the papers, before finally taking the pen and writing her name. A simple action—yet one that sealed her fate for the rest of her life.Michael turned to her, his voice firm and unyielding.“You’re mine now.”At that instant, Aurora felt as though she had been tricked, though she could not explain why. She pushed the feeling aside.“Now… can I leave?” she asked.Michael studied her for a moment before replying, “Then where must I drop you?”“H

A few hours ago.Aurora was lying on the bed while Michael hovered over her, a malicious grin dancing on his lips as he glanced at the girl beneath him. Her eyes were half-open, gazing back at him with a hazy look. He was mesmerized by them, finding her even more beautiful with the rosy hue tinting her pale white skin. With a predatory grin, he murmured, “From today onwards, you’re only mine.”He leaned down and brushed his lips over hers, but there was no reaction from the dazed Aurora—until she suddenly pushed him aside and scrambled out of bed. A hand covering her mouth, panic written all over her face, she rushed into the bathroom. She vomited into the sink and flushed it with water, clutching her head as if she were about to collapse—when a hand caught her wrist and lifted her up.She instinctively rested her head on his shoulder and dozed off. Michael carefully carried her back to the bed, laying her down slowly, afraid she might wake. Seeing that some vomit had splashed onto he

Aurora felt the hot breath in her ear as he spoke. She took a step forward and turned to face him, staring into his blue eyes. They were truly beautiful. She felt as if she were staring directly at the sky, but she immediately looked away, overwhelmed by the intensity of his gaze. She looked everywhere but at his face, and a faint blush crept onto her cheeks. In a hushed tone, she asked, “Who are you, and what happened?” Her little voice was hoarse, but neither of them seemed to mind.Michael grinned and replied, “Everything here proves what happened.” He waved his hand as if to show her what he meant, his amusement made obvious by his occasional chuckles.Aurora’s face grew redder, and she immediately retorted, “Lies! What did you do to me?”Michael looked at her and said, “That’s not the question you should be asking, but rather who started it.”Aurora looked at him incredulously. “You’re lying. There is no proof,” she said. His grin widened as he answered, “There is.” He pointed at
