ANASTASIA’S POV

"Yes, Athena, I’m in my office. You can come by," I replied, signing off on a stack of documents on my desk. "Just ensure you’re here before 4 PM—I have business to attend to after that."

"Oh, I’ll be there in an hour. Don’t miss me too much," Athena said cheerfully on the other end of the line.

I chuckled dryly. "You wish."

As I set the phone back on the desk, my secretary walked in, balancing yet another stack of files in her arms. I sighed inwardly. Managing a family furniture business as a front for our real operations was both a blessing and a curse. The endless paperwork tied to both businesses? Definitely a curse.

"They just never end, do they?" I said sarcastically, glancing at Ruth as she placed the files neatly on my desk. She gave me a polite smile, one I imagined she had reserved for all my complaints.

"You have a meeting at 2 o’clock, and you need to be at the other warehouse by 4," she said, her voice calm and professional as she ticked items off her iPa

NOLAN’S POV I sat in my dining chair, staring blankly at the unopened bottle of whiskey on the table. The light coming in from the city skyline stretched beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows lighting the room dimly. My phone rang, pulling me out of my deep thoughts. The name on the screen was for one of my men, this could either make my day or leave me livid. I swiped to answer, my voice clipped.“What?”“Boss, we’ve got a problem,” the man stammered. His tone already irritating me.“Spit it out,” I snapped ready to get the conversation over with.“There was… a raid at the docks,” he said, hesitating with every word. “They were waiting for us. Three crates are gone—seized before we could get them out.”My jaw tightened. “A raid? How the hell did they know? Someone talk?”“I—I don’t know yet. But we’re working on it,” he stuttered.“Working on it?” I repeated with disgust “I don’t pay you stupid assholes to work on it!” I said my anger rising “I pay you bastards to ensure situations l

ANASTASIA’S POVThe low hum of the engine filled the silence of the car as I sped through the streets that led to the warehouse. My fingers drummed against the leather steering wheel, the tension in my chest building with each passing second. Handling business, asserting control, and reminding everyone why crossing me was a grave mistake were the moments I lived for.As I pulled up to the warehouse, the men stationed at the gates nodded in acknowledgment as the car moved past them. I stepped out of the car, my heels clicking against the concrete as I approached the entrance. The guards at the door were heavily armed, their rifles glinting under the unforgiving fluorescent lights. They stepped aside without a word and I stepped into the room. The air inside was thick with tension, and the two men sitting at the center of the room were tied to chairs, their faces swollen and bloodied. I stepped forward looking the traitors in the eye. These weren’t just two random fools who decided to

NOLAN’S POVWalking into the Ivanovos’ living room with my parents, I immediately looked for a spot near the entrance so I could slip out unnoticed if I can’t stand the entire drama anymore. I looked to my right and found a lone sofa near the doorway. Perfect. I plopped down, stretching out slightly, making it clear that I didn’t want to be there. My mother wasted no time diving into a discussion with Anastasia’s mother and a woman who was clearly an event planner, judging by the swatches of fabric and flower arrangements spread across the coffee table. Meanwhile, my father on the other hand was having a conversation regarding business with Anastasia’s father. I looked around in irritation as I had no idea why I was needed here. Did anyone honestly think I’d care about flower arrangements or seating charts? I slouched further into the chair and allowed my mind to wander toward some business deals I was still trying to close. Just when I was plotting my exit so I could go to work, a

ANASTASIA’S POVThe blaring ringtone of my phone jolted me awake, immediately followed by the continuous ringing of my doorbell. I groaned, yanking the pillow over my head to block out the noise. Who in their right mind would be ringing my bell this early? They must have a death wish.“Damn it,” I muttered, throwing off the covers and stumbling out of bed. Snatching my phone from the nightstand, I squinted at the screen to see who was calling me. It was my mother. Just perfect.“What?” I answered in an irritated tone as I shuffled toward the front door.“That’s no way to talk to your mother, Anastasia,” she said, her tone sharp as always.I rolled my eyes and opened the door, only to find five people standing there, each holding more than two boxes and bags.“What the hell is this?” I asked, switching the phone to my other ear.“If only you’d bothered to pick up earlier, I wouldn’t have to explain,” my mother snapped. “That’s your makeup, hairstyling, and styling team. They’re there t

NOLAN’S POV The Ivanovos' backyard looked nothing like its usual self. They had tiny lights hanging from the trees, allowing a soft glow to sprawl over the space. The seating area was covered with a white canopy to provide shade for the guests. There were different flowers everywhere, I could only recognize the roses and lilies arranged alongside other flowers. I could feel my mother’s death stare boring into me from where she stood. I couldn’t blame her, I was two hours late to the ceremony. It was all thanks to Dimitri, who insisted on throwing me a bachelor party the night before. The bachelor party ran too late because Dimitri insisted we make the most of my ‘final hours as a free man’. The pounding headache I was feeling served as a harsh reminder of how bad an idea the party was. I walked up to mother who was standing across the yard talking to another woman. As I walked up to her, I braced myself for the scolding that was to come. Before mother could scold me I swoo

ANASTASIA’S POVI groaned as the sunlight streaming through the light curtains woke me up. I tried to roll over to shield myself from the brightness, but something blocked my movement. I froze on the spot because I wasn’t expecting to have anyone in my bed. It had to be Athena. She has crashed at my place multiple times so it had to be her. With a playful smirk, I lifted my leg to kick her awake. Before I could kick her a second time, a deep unfamiliar voice rumbled from who I thought would be Athena.“Easy there,” the voice said.I bolted straight out of the bed with my heart hammering against my chest. The sudden movement sent a sharp pain through my skull, I pressed my hands to my temples as I let out a groan and tried to steady myself. I tried to look around at who was talking to me, but my vision was blurry and I couldn’t make out anything from my surroundings. “Are you okay?” the voice asked again, softer this time.I didn’t respond, as I was trying to make sense of what was

ANASTASIA’S POVFLASHBACKI fumbled with my keys as I tried to steady my trembling hands, but the alcohol in my system made it almost impossible. The stranger beside me held me up with his firm grip as we both stumbled through the door when I finally opened the door.As soon as the door closed behind us, he pressed his body into mine pinning me against the door. He crashed his lips against mine, kissing me like he’d been waiting for this moment all night.I drunkenly tried to flip our positions so I’d be in control. But, it was like he saw it coming. He gently pressed his right hand against my throat, choking me, while his left hand trailed down to my ass and grabbed it firmly. The kiss grew hotter and more desperate as he slipped his hands under my knees and lifted me from the ground and my legs instinctively wrapped against his waist. His hips started grinding against mine as his lips moved from mine and trailed hot kisses down my neck and sucked on it, making me gasp. With my sha

NOLAN’S POVFastening the last button on my shirt, I grabbed my suit jacket laid out on the bed, and slipped it on. My eyes darted to the dresser, searching for my watches, but they weren’t there. Frowning, I checked the other side, but they were nowhere to be found.Great. Just great. This morning already didn’t start great, thanks to Anastasia’s parents blowing up my phone. Their precious daughter hadn’t returned home after our altercation at the wedding. Not that I cared anyway.Stepping out of the room, I spotted Maria, the maid, coming out from the kitchen.“Maria!” I called sharply. “Where are my watches?”She froze mid-step looking nervous as her eyes widened. “I… I’m not sure, sir. But I can help you look for it.”I didn’t have the patience for that. “Don’t bother. I’ll just get another.” I muttered as I waved her off. Pulling my phone from my pocket, I scrolled through my contacts and dialed Dimitri.“Get me a new watch and bring it to the house,” I said when he picked up. “A

NOLAN’S POVThe car rumbled softly as Dimitri drove through winding roads and quiet intersections. The city lights faded behind us, replaced by wide stretches of empty land and tall trees that looked like shadows in the night.Camila’s tail lights blinked in the distance as we followed her car down an almost invisible road. The farther we drove, the quieter it became.“Where the hell is this place?” Dimitri muttered beside me, eyes narrowing.“I don't know, but it’s discreet. That’s what we need right now,” I replied, looking around. Finally, Camila's car slowed and turned onto a gravel path hidden behind a row of overgrown bushes. A few feet later, a small bungalow nestled between thick trees and shielded by a long fence and sliding gate. It was simple, but private. No neighbors in sight. Just silence and space.“Well, this could work,” Dimitri said, parking behind Camila.I stepped out of the car and looked around. The air was cooler here. And for the first time in weeks, I felt lik

IVAN’S POVI parked across the street and leaned back, letting my eyes scan the house, especially the window in the nursery. There was no movement. The cream-colored blinds she always kept half-drawn were closed, and there was no soft glow of the lamp she usually left on.I narrowed my eyes and looked down at my watch. It was 10:34pm.Usually, by this time, she'd be putting Maya to sleep. Sometimes she sat by the window after, curled up with that little blanket draped over her legsBut tonight? There was nothing.I stepped out of the car and walked up to the front door of the house. I rang the doorbell once and waited, but there was no answer.I knocked next. “Anna?” I called out in a stern tone, but there was still no response. I reached for the handle and twisted it. The door creaked open with an ease that made my skin crawl. Anna never leaves the door unlocked. I closed the door behind me with a soft click and stood still for a moment, listening. There was no sound from Maya, no

ANASTASIA’S POVI watched as Nolan held Hailey so gently, his large hands supporting her fragile frame. I stood beside him as he admired her. His brows were furrowed as if he was still fighting to feel joy through all the pain.“I should’ve been here,” he murmured, barely above a whisper.“You can still be,” I said softly. His jaw clenched.Nolan turned slightly, not enough to face me completely. “Don’t do that.”“Do what?” I asked, although I already knew.“Act like everything’s fine now,” he said, voice low and tight. “Like I can just forget what you did.”My heart sank. “I’m not asking you to forget,” I said quietly. He looked back at Hailey, gently swaying her as she nestled deeper into his chest. “I missed a whole week of her life because I thought she was his.”“I know,” I whispered, my voice catching. “And I hate myself for that.”For a long moment, there was nothing but the sound of the low hum of the air conditioner.“I’m moving back in,” he said firmly. My head snapped up. “

  • The Mafia‘s Shared Love   Chapter 85

NOLAN’S POVIt had been a week since the confrontations at the hospital, and it had been the most excruciating week of my life.I hadn’t seen Anna. Not once. Not my family either. The only two people who had managed to find me were Camila and Dimitri. They knew where I was staying, and Camila made sure of that. She was the one who rescued me and my team from that goddamn warehouse.Since then, I’d been holed up in a hotel room, staring at the ceiling more than I’d like to admit. Every day, I replay the betrayal in my head like an endless loop. And it wasn’t just the betrayal from Anna. It was from my father also. My whole life had been wrapped in lies. And now… this baby. The one I had promised to love, raise, and protect wasn’t mine.I’ve been tempted more times than I could count to call Anna and ask to see the baby. But every time, the image of Ivan grabbing Anna’s arm and claiming the child haunted me. A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts.I sat up, annoyed. I wasn’t

ANASTASIA’S POV“Accept it, Anna. She is mine,” Ivan said to me in a firm tone.I opened my mouth to speak, to scream that he was wrong, to deny everything, but I saw something behind him that made my heart stop.Nolan was standing in the doorway looking bloody and bruised.Ivan turned, finally noticing him. He didn’t even flinch. He just smiled, smug and unbothered. “Nolan,” I whispered. “You’re alive,” I said moving to stand from the bed. He raised his hand to stop me from moving, his eyes darting between me and Ivan. “Did I hear him right?” He asked slowly. I could only sit there as tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision.Nolan stepped into the room fully with his fists clenched. “Tell me I didn’t just hear him claim my daughter,” he said, turning to me. “Anna, tell me I heard wrong. Please,” he said, his voice breaking.I wanted to scream yes, he heard wrong, that Ivan was lying. But I couldn’t. Because I didn’t even know what the truth was myself. Not after everything

  • The Mafia‘s Shared Love   Chapter 83

IVAN’S POVI stood frozen at the reception desk with my fists clenched as the wheels squeaking down the hallway echoed in my head. The memories of Anna screaming and the heavy bleeding flashed in my head. Was she going to be okay? Was my baby going to make it? The thought of losing my baby made me furious. The doctor came back out not long after. He looked around and then asked, “Where’s her husband?”Nolan’s mom stepped forward quickly. “He’s not around. Is everything okay with Anna and the baby?”The doctor looked down at the chart in his hands and sighed. “She’s 32 weeks along, which means the baby isn’t fully developed. But, the real issue is that she’s experiencing a placental abruption, which means the placenta is separating from the uterine wall before delivery. That’s what caused the bleeding and the pain.”Nolan’s mother gasped, stunned into silence."Is that... dangerous?" Anna’s mother asked.“It can be. That’s why we have to perform an emergency C-section immediately. The

NOLAN’S POVI felt a dull throbbing pain in my head as I slowly gained consciousness. My throat was dry, and the metallic taste of blood sat stubbornly on my tongue.I turned my head slowly to look around the dimly lit room I was in. My wrists were tied behind my back, the rope biting into my skin. Dimitri was slumped unconscious beside me, dried blood staining his temple. Our men were tied up across the room, still unconscious. Where the hell were we?I sat up slowly, trying to piece together the last thing I remembered. We were closing in on the location of Raul’s sponsor. Months of intel had led to that warehouse. As we circled the perimeter, we got grenades thrown at us scattering our formation. And then toxic gas got thrown at us that turned everything black.Dimitri stirred beside me.“Dimitri,” I called. He sat up looking confused. "What the...?" He asked with a grunt as he pulled on the ropes.I kicked him in the shin.“Damn it, Nolan,” he said, flinching. “What the hell was

ANASTASIA’S POV“This drawer should be for onesies only,” I said, gesturing toward the top section of the white-painted dresser. “Socks and mittens go in the drawer beneath it. Bottles and bibs can go in the basket next to the changing station.”Nolan’s mother gave a hum of approval, folding a tiny yellow onesie with smiling ducks printed on it and tucking it neatly into place. “You've got an eye for this thing,” she said, smiling over her shoulder at me.“I’m nesting,” I replied with a laugh, rubbing my belly. “It’s apparently a thing.”“Mm-hmm. I remember this phase. With Nolan, I was scrubbing the kitchen tiles with a toothbrush.”“That explains a lot,” I teased, making her laugh.Across the room, Nolan was on his knees, trying to assemble the crib. He frowned at the instruction sheet, then looked at the half-assembled frame.“This thing has thirty screws and no soul,” he muttered.I smiled. “Do you want me to take over?”“I’d rather wrestle a bear,” he replied, not looking up. “I

NOLAN’S POV“I can take a walk down the fucking street by myself, Nolan!” Anna snapped, already halfway to the door, her hand pressed against the arch of her back.I followed, stopping just behind her. “I can't let you go alone. You know that.”She turned slightly, her eyes a familiar blend of fire and frustration that had made me fall for her in the first place. “Nolan, I’m pregnant, not disabled.”“You know what? Maybe when my mother gets back from the store with Ivan, she can follow you for the walk. How does that sound?” I asked. She turned fully, with one hand dramatically pointing to her belly. “Nolan, if you don't let me go for this walk, I swear, I will fall face-first to the floor right here in this house. Your choice.”I stared at her, my lips parted slightly. I folded my arms, trying to gauge whether she was just venting or genuinely serious. She sounded exhausted.“Okay,” I said finally, raising my hands in surrender. “Okay. You can go. Just... be careful.”She gave me a
