ANASTASIA’S POV

The low hum of the engine filled the silence of the car as I sped through the streets that led to the warehouse. My fingers drummed against the leather steering wheel, the tension in my chest building with each passing second. Handling business, asserting control, and reminding everyone why crossing me was a grave mistake were the moments I lived for.

As I pulled up to the warehouse, the men stationed at the gates nodded in acknowledgment as the car moved past them. I stepped out of the car, my heels clicking against the concrete as I approached the entrance.

The guards at the door were heavily armed, their rifles glinting under the unforgiving fluorescent lights. They stepped aside without a word and I stepped into the room. The air inside was thick with tension, and the two men sitting at the center of the room were tied to chairs, their faces swollen and bloodied.

I stepped forward looking the traitors in the eye. These weren’t just two random fools who decided to

NOLAN’S POVWalking into the Ivanovos’ living room with my parents, I immediately looked for a spot near the entrance so I could slip out unnoticed if I can’t stand the entire drama anymore. I looked to my right and found a lone sofa near the doorway. Perfect. I plopped down, stretching out slightly, making it clear that I didn’t want to be there. My mother wasted no time diving into a discussion with Anastasia’s mother and a woman who was clearly an event planner, judging by the swatches of fabric and flower arrangements spread across the coffee table. Meanwhile, my father on the other hand was having a conversation regarding business with Anastasia’s father. I looked around in irritation as I had no idea why I was needed here. Did anyone honestly think I’d care about flower arrangements or seating charts? I slouched further into the chair and allowed my mind to wander toward some business deals I was still trying to close. Just when I was plotting my exit so I could go to work, a

ANASTASIA’S POVThe blaring ringtone of my phone jolted me awake, immediately followed by the continuous ringing of my doorbell. I groaned, yanking the pillow over my head to block out the noise. Who in their right mind would be ringing my bell this early? They must have a death wish.“Damn it,” I muttered, throwing off the covers and stumbling out of bed. Snatching my phone from the nightstand, I squinted at the screen to see who was calling me. It was my mother. Just perfect.“What?” I answered in an irritated tone as I shuffled toward the front door.“That’s no way to talk to your mother, Anastasia,” she said, her tone sharp as always.I rolled my eyes and opened the door, only to find five people standing there, each holding more than two boxes and bags.“What the hell is this?” I asked, switching the phone to my other ear.“If only you’d bothered to pick up earlier, I wouldn’t have to explain,” my mother snapped. “That’s your makeup, hairstyling, and styling team. They’re there t

NOLAN’S POV The Ivanovos' backyard looked nothing like its usual self. They had tiny lights hanging from the trees, allowing a soft glow to sprawl over the space. The seating area was covered with a white canopy to provide shade for the guests. There were different flowers everywhere, I could only recognize the roses and lilies arranged alongside other flowers. I could feel my mother’s death stare boring into me from where she stood. I couldn’t blame her, I was two hours late to the ceremony. It was all thanks to Dimitri, who insisted on throwing me a bachelor party the night before. The bachelor party ran too late because Dimitri insisted we make the most of my ‘final hours as a free man’. The pounding headache I was feeling served as a harsh reminder of how bad an idea the party was. I walked up to mother who was standing across the yard talking to another woman. As I walked up to her, I braced myself for the scolding that was to come. Before mother could scold me I swoo

ANASTASIA’S POVI groaned as the sunlight streaming through the light curtains woke me up. I tried to roll over to shield myself from the brightness, but something blocked my movement. I froze on the spot because I wasn’t expecting to have anyone in my bed. It had to be Athena. She has crashed at my place multiple times so it had to be her. With a playful smirk, I lifted my leg to kick her awake. Before I could kick her a second time, a deep unfamiliar voice rumbled from who I thought would be Athena.“Easy there,” the voice said.I bolted straight out of the bed with my heart hammering against my chest. The sudden movement sent a sharp pain through my skull, I pressed my hands to my temples as I let out a groan and tried to steady myself. I tried to look around at who was talking to me, but my vision was blurry and I couldn’t make out anything from my surroundings. “Are you okay?” the voice asked again, softer this time.I didn’t respond, as I was trying to make sense of what was

ANASTASIA’S POVFLASHBACKI fumbled with my keys as I tried to steady my trembling hands, but the alcohol in my system made it almost impossible. The stranger beside me held me up with his firm grip as we both stumbled through the door when I finally opened the door.As soon as the door closed behind us, he pressed his body into mine pinning me against the door. He crashed his lips against mine, kissing me like he’d been waiting for this moment all night.I drunkenly tried to flip our positions so I’d be in control. But, it was like he saw it coming. He gently pressed his right hand against my throat, choking me, while his left hand trailed down to my ass and grabbed it firmly. The kiss grew hotter and more desperate as he slipped his hands under my knees and lifted me from the ground and my legs instinctively wrapped against his waist. His hips started grinding against mine as his lips moved from mine and trailed hot kisses down my neck and sucked on it, making me gasp. With my sha

NOLAN’S POVFastening the last button on my shirt, I grabbed my suit jacket laid out on the bed, and slipped it on. My eyes darted to the dresser, searching for my watches, but they weren’t there. Frowning, I checked the other side, but they were nowhere to be found.Great. Just great. This morning already didn’t start great, thanks to Anastasia’s parents blowing up my phone. Their precious daughter hadn’t returned home after our altercation at the wedding. Not that I cared anyway.Stepping out of the room, I spotted Maria, the maid, coming out from the kitchen.“Maria!” I called sharply. “Where are my watches?”She froze mid-step looking nervous as her eyes widened. “I… I’m not sure, sir. But I can help you look for it.”I didn’t have the patience for that. “Don’t bother. I’ll just get another.” I muttered as I waved her off. Pulling my phone from my pocket, I scrolled through my contacts and dialed Dimitri.“Get me a new watch and bring it to the house,” I said when he picked up. “A

ANASTASIA’S POV I watched as Nolan walked off with his friend trailing behind him. His words, "Fix it. I don’t need my day getting worse than it already is," were still echoing in my head. Who did he think he was to talk to her like that? I yanked the band from my hair so it cascaded down my shoulders. I ran my hands through the strands and made sure they covered my neck "Satisfied?" I muttered to myself, imagining Nolan's smug face. I straightened my posture and made my way to the living room.Walking into the living room for the first time, it had high ceilings and tasteful decor, it gave off the minimalistic and expensive vibe. At the same time, it felt cold and impersonal, just like the marriage I’d been forced into. Everyone was already seated around and my gaze briefly met Nolan’s before I sat in an empty seat opposite him. "Good," Mr Russo began in his deep voice. "Now that we’re all here, let’s discuss the merger. This union isn’t just about your marriage. It’s mostly about

NOLAN’S POV“We have a shipment scheduled for tomorrow night,” Dimitri said from the passenger seat as we made our way to the office. “The docks are clear, and security’s tight. No leaks this time,” he added, scanning through reports on his tablet. I smirked keeping my eyes focused on the road. “There better not be. The last thing I need is another raid messing with our operations. What’s the update on the new routes?”“All set,” Dimitri replied confidently. “The eastern line is secure, and the drivers are fully briefed. No room for errors.”Before I could give him a response my phone buzzed. I glanced at the screen and answered sharply, “What is it?”One of my trusted workers spoke on the other end of the call. “Boss, we’ve identified who tipped off the government about the delivery.”My jaw tightened. “Where are you?” I asked in a low tone.“Warehouse, sir. Private room. The team’s already here.”I hung up without another word and turned to Dimitri. “Change of plans. We’re heading

NOLAN’S POV The fire alarms continued blaring through the house as the fire consumed everything in its way. Despite this, the pounding of my heart was the only thing I could hear. Anastasia was still locked in her room and the fire was growing rapidly at the side of her room. Not thinking twice, I ran towards her room as panic coursed through me. Her door was closed and there was no sign of movement from the other side. The thought of her still being unconscious while the house burned around us made me panic even more. "Anastasia!" I yelled as I banged on the door. There was no answer. "Anna, open the damn door!"Nothing.I cursed under my breath as I grabbed the handle of her door and twisted. It was locked as expected.Without hesitating, I stepped back and slammed my shoulder into the door once, twice, and on the third hit, it opened with a sharp crack. I ran inside the room, immediately searching for Anna through the thick smoke filled in the room.Anastasia was lying motionle

NOLAN’S POVThe sounds of wrapping and loading shipments echoed through the warehouse as I stalked across the loading bay, my patience getting thinner by the second. My voice rang out, sharp and unforgiving."Get those crates secured properly, or I'll have your ass fired before you can blink!" I barked, watching as two workers scrambled to fix their mess. "If I see another damn shipment delayed because of incompetence, heads will roll."My workers knew better than to test me when I was in this mood. A mood that I have been stuck on for a week. It’s been a week since the gala. A week since the fight with Anastasia. It has been a week since Anna turned cold towards me.I was already pissed off, and the sound of slow, deliberate footsteps approaching me from behind didn’t help. I didn't have to turn around to know who it was."Someone’s in a bad mood, huh?" Dimitri said in an amused tone as he stepped up beside me with his hands in his pockets.I exhaled sharply, running a hand through m

ANASTASIA’S POVI squinted my eyes as the morning light filtered through the curtains. I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. I tried to get myself to stand up, but my body felt heavy. My mind replayed last night in endless loops—the fight, the accusations, the look in Nolan’s eyes when he threw those words at me.A sharp knock on my door brought me out of my thoughts.I sat up, wondering who that could be. “What?” I responded sharply .The door swung open, and Maria stepped inside hesitantly.“Good morning, ma’am. Breakfast is ready,” she said in a careful voice, as if she already knew the thick tension that hung in the air of this house.“Thank you, Maria. I’ll be down soon.” I said as I rubbed my temples.“Okay ma’am” She said as she nodded and left, closing the door behind her. With a sigh, I threw off the covers and made my way to the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and my eyes were slightly puffy from lack of sleep. I pressed my lips in a tight line as I turned on the tap and sp

ANASTASIA’S POVThe moment Nolan’s fist connected with Leo’s face, I felt my entire body tense. Blood sprayed across the pavement, and Leo staggered back against the car, clutching his jaw. But instead of being scared, Leo had a wicked grin on his face. “There it is,” Leo spat, blood trickling from his busted lip. “There’s the real Nolan Russo.”Nolan didn’t hesitate. He grabbed Leo by the collar and landed another brutal punch. The sickening crack of bone meeting bone echoed in the night air.“Nolan, stop!” I yelled as I stepped forward and placed my hands on his arm, trying to pull him away. But he wouldn’t budge. He was too lost in his rage to hear me.Leo coughed, his laugh gurgling in his throat as he wiped his bleeding mouth. “What’s the matter, Russo?” he taunted, his voice hoarse. “Can’t stand the truth?”Nolan didn’t reply. Instead, he drove his fist into Leo’s stomach, making him double over in pain. The violence was spiraling out of control, and if I didn’t intervene now,

NOLAN’S POVI watched as Anastasia strutted out of the ballroom with the hem of her dress trailing behind her. Even in the dim ballroom light, I could see the smile she was trying so hard to suppress. She enjoyed messing with Rafael Costa whom she has left me to deal with. Rafael was a messy man, his business dealings were always dirty and filled with risks that were best avoided. He thrived in chaos, and I tolerated him only out of necessity. "So, Nolan," Rafael started, swirling the whiskey in his glass, "word on the street is that you’ve tightened your shipping routes. That’s bad for business, you know."I took a sip from my own glass, my expression impassive. "It’s bad for your business. Not mine."Rafael chuckled, leaning in as if we were old friends sharing a joke. "Come on, Russo. The world runs on trade, and restrictions only make things difficult. For everyone."I set my glass down with a soft clink. "That’s not my concern. My priority is ensuring that my shipments are secu

ANASTASIA’S POVLeo pulled the car up to the entrance of the ballroom and stepped out first. He moved to open Nolan’s door. Nolan stepped out, adjusting his cuffs before coming to the other side to open my door. When he opened the door, he extended his hand toward me to hold. I took a deep breath and placed my hand in his. His grip was firm, warm, and steady as I stepped out of the car.“You ready?” he asked, his voice low, almost intimate.I straightened my shoulders and met his gaze. “Always.”A smirk tugged at his lips before he led us toward the grand entrance, never letting go of my hand. As the heavy doors swung open, we stepped in and the murmur of conversations and the clinking of glasses stopped as the whole room was still. The silence in the room was almost deafening as all eyes turned toward us.Nolan remained unbothered by this as he walked forward with the same composed confidence he carried everywhere. I followed his lead, keeping my chin high.A staff member approached

ANASTASIA’S POVI stood in the dimly lit warehouse, my arms crossed as I observed the workers finishing up their tasks for the evening. My gaze landed on Michael, one of my more efficient employees, as he approached me."Everything is set, boss. The inventory check is complete, and the shipments are ready to go first thing tomorrow," he reported.I nodded in approval. "Good. Make sure the security detail is doubled for the night. I don’t want any surprises. Keep me updated if anything changes.""Will do. Safe travels, ma’am."I glanced at my wristwatch and nearly cursed. I only had an hour left to get back home. If I didn’t leave now, Nolan would never let me hear the end of it."I have to go," I said, already making my way to the car. The moment I slid into the driver’s seat, I pressed the ignition and pulled out onto the main road.Halfway home, my phone rang. I pressed the Bluetooth button on the dashboard, and Nolan’s voice filled the car."You’ve got forty-five minutes, Anastasia

NOLAN’S POVI leaned back in my chair, my fingers drumming against the desk as I glanced at the time. Anastasia should be back soon. Or at least, she should be on her way if she wasn’t caught up in whatever business had taken her to the warehouse again.Deciding to check in, I picked up my phone and dialed her number. She answered after a few rings.“Do you plan on wearing what you wore to the warehouse to the ball?” I asked immediately she picked up. “What ball?” she asked, confusion evident in her voice.I smirked. “The charity ball. You know, the one we agreed to attend together and play the perfect power couple?”The other end of the call was silent for a second before she let out a groan. “Right. That’s tonight, isn’t it?”“Glad to see you keep our commitments at the top of your priority list.”“Oh please Nolan, it’s not my fault some of us take our jobs more seriously than you” she shot back sounding amused.I fake gasped “I can’t even fake being hurt sweetheart, I do take m

ANASTASIA’S POV “Wait… my car. It’s still at the office.” I said as the sudden realization hit me as Nolan drove us home. Nolan barely spared me a glance as he said. “Leo will get it.”I frowned. “I can just go back and—”“I said Leo will get it.” He said as he pulled out his phone and dialed Leo’s number before I could argue further.“Pick the keys to my wife’s car from the receptionist at her office and bring the car to the house,” Nolan said to Leo in a firm tone. Whatever response he got must have been an agreement because he ended the call and slipped his phone back into his pocket.“Bossy much? You didn’t have to show off like that” I said with a huff. He smirked. “It’s efficient.”“Yeah, whatever”“Why don’t you have a driver or a PA?” Nolan asked with his brows furrowed a bit. “You shouldn't be doing these petty tasks yourself”I shrugged “I just like my things done precisely, so I’d rather get things done myself” “Okay, but why?”“It’s efficient,” I said blankly.
