LUCA'S POV
Once more, I had just concluded a deal. I had never gone after something and failed in this world, I has the entire underground system at my disposal and everyone worked out just fine. This was my town literally, I owned it, same way I owned this bar that I was in. It was a strip club to those willing to pay and because I was strung up, I had decided to come steam off when I was approached by this lady. She was beautiful no doubt about that but she was also ignorant. One look at her and I knew that she didn't belong here. If she did, she would have known who I was and she would have run very far away from me but here she was, asking for a dance. She had guts, I would give her that. I could have said no, ignored her very existence like I was used to but if there was another thing I liked other than money and power, it was people with confidence. People who were so confident that they carried a death wish upon their heads and I was looking at one of them. Brazen and beautiful. Why refuse the dance? Her face lit up as soon as I said yes and I cocked my head to the side, my hand still tucked safely into my trousers. An act which would have been considered rude by most but she didn't seem to mind as she gently walked towards the dance floor with excitement in her eyes. I furrowed my brows, excused myself from the men who were babbling around me and followed her to the dance floor. Everyone around paused their dancing, deftly moving at least a few feet away but she didn't seem to notice that, her gaze was purely on me and it was weird to notice that there was no form of lust on her face, just pure excitement like she knew something that I didn't. She moved gracefully, her chest smashed up against mine as she rubbed herself against me, her hands were skillfull and she was bold, I would give her that, she was basically feeling me about. I would walk away but I was mesmerized by her, she was clearly experienced and be damned if I didn't want to take her into my private chambers. After about fifteen minutes of dancing, her face was matted with sweat and she pulled away with a grin. “I must say, you did better than I expected. Thank you for this lovely dance but I best be on my way now” she said with a slight nod and before I could say another word, she was hurrying off… like she was in a hurry to get somewhere. I watched her go with a tilt of my head. Weird. Anyways, I had to make a call to someone who I wanted to meet here. Sighing, I reached into my pocket for my phone but was met with nothing. I froze. What the fuck? I dipped my hands into my pockets. My phone, my wristwatch that I had tucked into my pocket and the fucking ring on my finger was missing. I saw red immediately and I whipped my neck at the door where the lady had just walked through. A petty thief and a trained seductive one at that. I didn't care. No one stole from me My right hand who had noticed my change in mood came over to me. “Get the lady who just danced with me. She stole from me” My voice was a growl. He gasped and in a few moments, my men were out while I waited for a few minutes before leaving after them. I knew they would find her. No one escaped me. As I neared the alley just down the road outside the club, I heard voices. “I swear I didn't take anything” there she was. If I hadn't known her, I would have believed. Wow also a trained liar too. I rounded up the corner, I saw that my men had cornered her and seemed to be about to beat her. “Stop” My voice was low but they heard and quickly stepped back, leaving her whimpering in the corner. “Leave us” I ordered, there was no place to run, the only way out was past me as she was backed up against a wall. My men heeded and they backed up and out the alley because they knew that I wanted to handle her case my way. I stalked up to her and she seemed to shrink back until I got close enough to look down at her. “A beautiful…mess” I breathed out, my hand reaching out to stroke her face gently making her shudder. My hand traced circles on her face and I was practically flush against her as my hand travelled to her neck, my gaze feather light but just as lethal. She shuddered and her eyes shut close while I ran a hand through the curves of her body through the dress she was wearing. “Seriously?” My tone made her eyes snap open. Her eyes widened as she saw me holding the items in my hands while I examined them. She was too far gone to notice when my hand had slipped into her pockets and retrieved them. “You're not the only one with tricks. I know how to make a lady squirm” I said casually as her cheeks reddened and she seemed out of comments. “You cheated” she croaked. I wagged a finger at her and put my ring back. It was expensive, cost me about five hundred thousand dollars but I didn't care about that, this was about my dignity and no one stole from me. “Because you crossed the line” I reminded her. She seemed scared now that she was caught and I was still towering over her. She should be. She would cower If she knew who she had pissed off. Chuckling, I leaned in closer to her until my mouth was by her ear. “Marry me”ELENA'S POV “I'm sorry?” For the first time in a long time, I was truly caught off guard and I wanted to believe that he was just joking but the look in his eyes told me everything I needed to know. He was dead serious. He cocked his head to the side, a smirk ever so present on his face“You heard me. What's your name?” He asked causally as though we were talking about the weather.“I..uh..” the words refused to form in my mouth and his eyes darkened.“Don't make me ask one more time” The playful note in his tone was gone and I shuddered. What had I gotten myself into? There was only one way out ㅡ lie.“My name isㅡ” my mind worked fast to think of a believable name. Huh. I've always liked the name Angela, might as well use that. His eyes darkened and he cut me off “Don't even think about lying” His tone wasn't particularly hard but there was a clear threat to it and after seeing his “henchmen”, I knew that I wasn't to cross him. Would he knows if I lied though? He looked like someon
LUCA'S POV“You whatㅡ!” My aunt shrieked as soon as I delivered the news of my marriage to them.My uncle shot her a warning look that made her shrink back and shut up while he sighed before looking at me.“Look, Luca…we're just concerned…” His voice trailed off and settled on Elena who was sitting beside me, gracefully, her gaze surveying every member of my family who were just as involved in the business as they should beShe was an epitome of grace. She wanted to always have the upper hand and though she seemed clueless, she didn't show it. She raised her chin up and made sure to look everyone in the eye to show that she wasn't intimidated. So cute that I would almost laugh.Another man who seemed to have a lot to say piped in. “It just seems awfully convenient” He said with a raise of an eye brow.I looked at him, a fire blazing in my eyes.“What is?” I dared him to talkHe shifted uncomfortably by the wall he was leaning on and shrugged. “Doesn't it seem a little too weird that L
ELENA'S POV “How did you even manage to pull that off?” Luca asked as soon as we were out the door, his voice a whisper.I laughed gently and looked up at him. “What exactly?”He shrugged and tucked his hands into his pockets, a habit of his. Funny,I had known him for just a few days yet I knew that he did that whenever he was thinking deeply about something.“Let's start with how you know my favorite coffee. Black and strong” He said, looking at me.I shrugged also. That had been pure luck and I knew that if I made a mistake, everything would go to waste and he would kill me.“I just guessed” I admitted. He looked like he was about to laugh. “Guess? That's far too accurate of a guess” he noted, pinching the bridge of his nose.I folded my arms across my chest. “I know next to nothing about you. It was a wild guess. I guess I just had to take one look at you to guess that. You don't seem like the type of person who would order…sweet coffee heavily laced with milk. The coffee most peo
ELENA'S POV My eyes widened as the man left me in shock and stared mouth agape at Luca.I guess that was my reaction also. Surprise.Luca sighed and looked at me, walking to me.“Are you all right?” He asked, his dark eyes looking over my skin while I watched him with fascination. The man took a step back, his lips quivering. “Your…your wife?” He stuttered.“Yes, my wife. I should kill you for touching her but I'm in a good mood. Scram. If I ever see you bother her again, I'll paint the pavement with your blood” his voice was low and threatening. The man immediately gulped and scrambled away.“I thought you said you had some business to take care of” I muttered refusing to meet his gaze as I shrugged off his hand and dusted myself, my hair sticking out in bits.He frowned at how I pulled away from his touch but he didn't comment on it, his hand finding their way into his trousers as usual.“I know what I said but I had a feeling that something was wrong,” He said, his gaze still fixe
ELENA'S POV 5 minutes later, I was seated on the black sofa while he leaned on the armrest of the opposite sofa, staring at me.He had not said a single word yet but I knew that a lot was going through his head at that point. He was silently toying with the diamond ring on his finger, twirling the jewelry slowly while my eyes remained glued to it. It was beautiful.Suddenly he cleared his throat making me raise my gaze to his face which remained impassive.“Alright, let's talk. I think we've stalled enough”I nodded meekly, my fingers knotting together nervously. He pushed himself off the sofa and crossed his arms.“Tell me. Explain everything I have seen about you because it's something I can't understand no matter how much I try so tell me”I swallowed and my gaze fixed back on the ring shining gallantly on his finger. He was still waiting for me to talk and I muttered a “I don't know what you mean”He sighed exasperatedly. “Look, don't fuck with me right now, Elena because I'm not
ELENA'S POV I tossed and turned in bed as the night by, unable to sleep. I was used to sleeping alone but now I felt so out of place in the room assigned to me.Everything seemed so intimidating.Which is why I couldn't bear it anymore. I stood up and walked out of the room, the door gently closing behind me. According to the information I received from the maid, no one would be in the house by this time except me and the man who ran this place. Namely Luca. The house was filled with lights that stayed on and was eerily silent. Seems like he was asleep.I wrapped a hand around myself, suddenly realizing that I had not eaten dinner. After my conversation with him, I had not wanted to eat anything but now I was hungry and I couldn't bear it anymore.A while back, I had given myself a tour of the mansion so I knew where the fridge was.Quietly, I tiptoed there and swung open the fridge to look inside at the assortment of food and snacks.I could probably grab a canned food and warm it u
LUCA'S POV I don't know why I did it. Why had I spent my time cooking for her? I barely even knew the woman. As I lay in bed that morning after she had eaten and gone back to her room, I placed a hand under my head as support while I thought.I knew next to nothing about her. It was like I married a stranger and didn't bother to find out stuff about her A kleptomaniac? I was worried but not worried because she would steal something valuable but because she might do it when I wasn't there and put her life at risk.Sighing I stood up and wore a shirt over my bare chest, the tattoos swallowed up by the large tee that I now wore. There was a slight drizzle outside and I walked to the glass window from where my room was on the second floor and sighed. I never truly appreciated the rain. I never even bothered to look at it twice but tonight, I was standing here and appreciating the thunderstorm brewing in the distance. A small clatter from downstairs followed by a sigh reached my ears a
ELENA'S POV “You heard me” he repeated, his large body obscuring the view behind him as he leaned against my door frame at 7 in the morning. My hair stuck out around me and I was aware of the appraising look he gave me. This was the second time he had seen me like this and he didn't seem to hate the look. There was almost a look of envy in his eyes.“But umm…you didn't tell me that yesterday,” I said groggily. His eyes dimmed and he looked at me with dead blue eyes that never seemed to brighten.“I make plans anytime I want. Your job is to follow them. That was the deal” he reminded.I frowned at his attitude this morning. “That was not part of the deal. The deal was that I pretend to be your wife in public”“Well not public precisely. I'm not asking you to be affectionate in public with me…” he paused then muttered a “doesn't work In this world” under his breath before looking back at me.“I get that but at least give me some notice. I'm stressed out today and I need some time to ge
