Married in seconds

ELENA'S POV

“I'm sorry?” For the first time in a long time, I was truly caught off guard and I wanted to believe that he was just joking but the look in his eyes told me everything I needed to know. He was dead serious.

He cocked his head to the side, a smirk ever so present on his face

“You heard me. What's your name?” He asked causally as though we were talking about the weather.

“I..uh..” the words refused to form in my mouth and his eyes darkened.

“Don't make me ask one more time” The playful note in his tone was gone and I shuddered.

What had I gotten myself into?

There was only one way out ㅡ lie.

“My name isㅡ” my mind worked fast to think of a believable name. Huh. I've always liked the name Angela, might as well use that.

His eyes darkened and he cut me off

“Don't even think about lying” His tone wasn't particularly hard but there was a clear threat to it and after seeing his “henchmen”, I knew that I wasn't to cross him. Would he knows if I lied though? He looked like someone who had all the information in the world at his fingertips. Nope. Not going to do this.

“Elena” I answered truthfully.

“Elena…” the name rolled off his tongue easily and the playful glint in his eyes was back. “now marry me” he said simply.

Honestly, it didn't sound like he was asking. He was basically ordering me to marry him. Why would he want the person who stole from him to marry him? It was absurd.

I resorted to the last option and began to cry, pouring all my efforts to apologize and beg for forgiveness if that was possible.

“It's simple, Elena” he said casually. “You either marry me or I'll make sure you die a slow torturous death. You will wish for death but it won't come that easy. I'll break your soul just like I would destroy your flesh” The words were said so casually that I shuddered, making mental images.

My tears immediately dried and I took a deep breath and tried to look as confident as I could. “So I agree to marry you and you forgive what I did?” I asked uncertainly.

He shrugged. “Not just that, Elena. If you agree to it, I'll not only let this slide but I'll make sure that the people looking for you never find you. I offer you protection” He said, gauging my reaction

My breath caught in my throat. Holy… how the hell did he know about that? I had certainly never met him before now so how did he know that I was being chased? It didn't make any sense.

This was proof that he was the type of man that you didn't mess with. I had clearly messed with him and I was going to get out of it

“What's your name?” I threw a question at him.

He leaned back on the wall beside me and smirked. “I go by Luca” He said.

“Okay.. Luca…I agree” I said quite confidently though I was nervous.

“Not like you had a choice anyways” He said under his breath before taking a deep breath. “I'll see you tomorrow. We're getting married tomorrow” he said pushing himself off the wall and walking away, his silhouette swallowed by the shoulders.

I wanted to call out, to ask how he would find me but something sickening in me told me that he would find me. He carried the aura in his very being.

Quite true to his promise, a black Lamborghini veneno roadster pulled up to my house at the exact time an anonymous number had said the next morning and I was asked to get in.

A couple of hours later, I was standing in the registrar with the devil himself dressed in a simple button down black shirt and black trousers. All his henchmen who stood beside us as we signed the documents were all clothed in black and I spied the same tattoo of a black scorpion on at least 8 guards. God, this felt more of a funeral than a wedding. My funeral to be exact. For some reason, the tattoo was oddly familiar but I couldn't pinpoint where exactly I had seen it.

The old man at the registrar paid no attention to the atmosphere around him and seemed more than in a hurry to get us out of his space. He was terrified, I saw that by the tremble of his fingers as he brought out some documents that we would sign to make our marriage legal.

“Miss Rosetti…” the old man said with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. “Please sign right here with your full name” He said pushing a paper towards me

I sighed and I was aware that Luca was watching my every move so I picked up the blue ballpoint pen and wrote my name with my signature close to it. There.

The paper was pushed to Luca who signed it with equal grace and I spied his full name. Luca Ferraro. That name… where had I heard it?

The old man smiled at Luca and I.

“Congratulations. You are now married” The old man said with a grin that seemed forced

Luca sighed and said some stuff in Italian to the man who seemed glued to him before he moved off to the corner to make a call, ignoring my presence. Not like I cared anyways.

I bowed my head slightly at the old man who forced a smile to me with a sympathetic look in his eyes. Tell me about it, sir. I knew what I had gotten into.

I looked around me and anywhere I looked, I saw his henchmen watching over me while Luca was in the corner of the building, spitting rapid Italian into the phone with a frown on his face. Fuck, no escape. Breath, Elena.

My gaze fell on the nearest man beside me and I peeked at the tattoo that coiled up his neck then it suddenly made sense.

There was only one group in Italy that has that tattoo on every member and Luca…Ferraro. Fuck I just remembered where I had heard the name. Holy shit! My heart started pounding. He was the boss of the most dangerous mafia group in Italy.
