A dance with a god

ELENA'S POV

“How much?” The lean motherfucker to my side whistled as I strode past him, my hips swinging.

“Same price your dad paid for your mum” I retorted, flipping him off with my middle finger.

He snorted but didn't try to stop me or grope me which was good because I was going to break his hands if he tried that.

The strobe lights threatened to wreck my eyesight as I slumped down on the leather bar stool in the corner.

The gruffy huge bartender raised an eyebrow at me, scrutinizing me like I didn't belong here. Which wasn't far from the truth actually, I didn't belong in on of the most luxurious clubs in town and the least I could do was look the part. Well, it wasn't my fault, I wasn't planning on just sneaking into the club, I had a valid reason for being here which was escapeㅡ yeah, I had stolen from a man who was hell bent on catching me and killing me and the only way to lose those on my trail was to sneak into the club. They wouldn't expect to find me here.

I tucked a stray sweaty strand on hair behind my ear and looked back at the people in the booths talking and gesticulating wildly while some people danced wildly. Not really my atmosphere but the people looked exactly how I imagined ㅡ Affluent. I was always itching to gety hands on some money and the people here had tons of it and were willing to throw it around judging by the clusters of men playing poker and betting money in their thousands of dollars.

I looked back at th bartender who looked like he was one step away from calling security to haul me out. Couldn't have that happening.

“Nice place this is” I said, smiling at him.

He frowned deeper then rested his huge hands that could easily swat me away on the counter.

“Never seen you around here” He said, getting straight to the point.

“I didn't think you took attendances” I retorted with a roll of the eyes.

Not a good move. He muttered something under his breath and huffed at me.

“You're a new face anyways… what are you doing here? Not many of your caliber come here” He said, looking me over.

I knew that I looked out of place. With tousled ginger hair that fell in waves around my shoulders and I was dressed in a simple red gown that I had used to look at least decent to sneak into a boutique to steal a simple wristwatch. The wristwatch…fuck…where did I put it?

My hand quickly worked around my pockets till I felt the reassuring heavy weight. That little shit was the reason I was here seeking refuge, you would think that I stole a gold bar but it was just a silver wristwatch that was probably just worth about a hundred dollars and nothing more yet the miser of a man had sent his hounds after me.

The bartender cleared his throat and I looked back at him with an Innocent expression.

“Are you gonna order any drink or are you just taking up space on my barstool?” His voice was hostile which was a tone he didn't use with the other customers. Rude!

“Your cheapest drink” I said with as much grace as I could.

He snorted as he mixed a couple of drinks and slid across the counter to me. I caught it deftly and looked inside the glass cup.

I raised the drink to the bartender with a frown on my face. “Expected better” I said with a snarky grin. If there was anything I loved more than stealing then it was getting under people skin

As far as I was concerned, I had won this little game with the bartender.

“For someone who can just afford the cheapest drink here… you sure have a lot of guts” He muttered.

I dropped the glass down and wagged a finger at him

“I could order your most expensive wine but I'm cutting down on the spending today” I lied easily.

His gaze on me never wavered and as much as I wanted to keep pushing his buttons, I knew that he would not be fined for killing me here. This club was expensive but not exactly legal. I had spied a lot of men coming here to make deals that were far from legal in the booths and the suitcases of money being passed discreetly made my skin tingle. All that money…

Sighing, I raised my glass to my lips and took a sip, looking around until when the atmosphere in the club changed. People were parting ways for someone and the men who weren't dancing stood up to go to the doorway.

I turned around to ask the bartender what was going on but his mood had shifted and he tried to look busy while intentionally ignoring me. Jerk.

Turning around slowly, I rested my gaze on the center of attraction and I Inhaled sharply. Holy shit, I didn't know that Greek gods still walked about in public because this man…everything was screaming of perfection from his dark silky hair to his piercing blue eyes. He was dressed in a simple gray shirt that hugged his muscular body and black trousers but the aura around him was dangerous. He looked simple but I knew that he was filthy rich by the way people seemed to kiss his boots around him.

What do I have to lose? I downed my drink and stood up, flinging my hair behind and I stalked across the room to meet him. The people who were crowded around him had thinned out so he was just with a few people. Thank the gods, at least if he rejected me, there wouldn't be many people to see it.

“Hey” I said confidently with a smile.

He was speaking to someone but he stopped and his blue eyes pierced through me. The man he was speaking to levelled me a glare that told me to move but I didn't flinch one bit. I had no business with that one.

“May I help you?” His deep voice made my skin tingle and I forced a smile.

“I noticed you from across the room and I couldn't help but see how mesmerizing you were so I decided to come ask you for a dance if you would please” I said with admiration.

He looked me over with a smirk and I wondered if he would ignore me and maybe throw me out but he sighed and pushed his hands into his pockets casually.

“Now that you mention it, I would like to have a dance so okay” he said, his eyes still looking me over and trying to find out my ulterior motive. but ofcourse, he would find nothing
