Clark immediately stood up from his seat and rushed to his mother. His arms wrapping around her back before giving her a questioning gaze.

I reluctantly tore my gaze away from Theresa's distraught face and turned to Alexander, who sat beside me with his jaw clenched in a tight, rigid line. His eyes, normally bright and warm, were now dark and intense, his brow furrowed in concern. As I looked at him, he reached out and gently took my hand in his, his fingers intertwining with mine in a comforting grasp.

Then, in a tender gesture, he lifted my hand to his lips and pressed a soft, gentle kiss to the back of my palm. The touch sent a shiver down my spine, and I felt a surge of warmth and connection flow through me. His eyes never left mine as he kissed the back of my hand.

"What's going on?" I asked, my voice laced with concern, as I scanned the somber faces before me. "Why do you all look so upset?" I pressed, my curiosity piqued by the mix of sorrow and anger etched on their features.
