Daggers

I stepped out of Ava's office dusting off imaginary dust from my blue floral dress, the delicate fabric fluttering around my knees as I moved.

I glanced around, taking in the familiar sights and sounds of the bakery. The soft hum of conversation, the clinking of cups, and the gentle chime of the door as customers came and went. The sweet aroma of freshly baked goods enveloped me, and the warm glow of the display cases made me feel cozy. I took a deep breath, feeling my shoulders relax.

I looked over at Ava talking to one of the bakery workers, behind the counter. Her eyes sparkled as she laughed at something the worker said, and I couldn't help but smile.

Ava's gaze met mine, and she flashed me a cocky smirk, her eyes crinkling at the corners. I gave her a playful glare and made my way over to her, weaving through the customers waiting in line.

As I approached her, she sauntered away from the counter meeting me half-way. I pinched her cheek harder than normal, making her wince.
