Alora's POV

“What?” Three voices exclaimed at once—Luca, Gianni, and me.

I glanced around the room, my eyes taking in the men, all staring at me with different looks on their faces. My pulse quickened. “What are you talking about?" This had to be some kind of prank, right? "Gianni, come on, you should’ve told me that the Mafia pulled these kinds of stunts on new people. This is serious! You all shouldn't mess with people's lives like this.” I laughed nervously, but my voice faltered when I realized no one else was laughing.

This couldn't be real. It was a joke... right?

The man carrying the item stepped forward, his expression stern as he spoke. “Boss, we found this in her room,” he said, holding up a glittering piece of jewelry. “It was hidden with her belongings in the back of the closet.”

“What do you mean by saying I’m the thief?” I stammered, trying to process the words. “What are you even talking about? I haven't even seen the closet yet. I don't even have dresses yet.”

Luca's gaze hardened as he turned to Dante. “I thought you said not to search people’s rooms without them being present. Why did they go to Alora's room?”

Dante’s eyes shifted from Luca to the man holding the jewelry. “You know the rules, Marco. No one searches a room without my permission.”

Marco’s posture stiffened. “I’m sorry, sir, but you said we shouldn't go to any family members room. Alora isn't family. She’s just a new worker, and we had to search her room.”

“You should’ve searched the maids’ quarters or the storage areas, not the rooms of people living here,” Gianni added, crossing his arms while glaring at Marco.

Marco shifted uncomfortably. “I understand that, sir Gianni, but I had orders to search the rooms of all workers. She's a worker.”

Their argument didn’t faze me. I just kept staring at the jewelry, my legs threatening to give out beneath me. “There’s no way I stole that,” I blurted out, my voice shaking. “Someone’s trying to frame me. You guys know that, right?” My mind raced, desperately trying to make sense of the situation. Could it be Bianca? Or maybe Dante himself? Maybe it was a test of my loyalty?

Gianni stepped in. “Dante, that's true. Alora didn’t steal anything. I don’t know how it ended up in her room, but—”

“Gianni, stay out of this!” Dante snapped, his voice cold. “I’ll handle it.” He took a step toward me, his gaze like ice. “Alora, explain to me how this ended up in your room.”

My brows furrowed as I struggled to find words. How could I possibly know how it got there? “I...I hadn’t even been to my room for hours,” I said helplessly, my voice barely a whisper.

Dante's dark gaze didn’t falter. I shivered as a chill ran down my spine.

Luca, sensing the increased tension, cut in, trying to defuse the situation. “Wait, let’s think this through. Dante, when did you realize it was missing?”

“This morning, a few hours after breakfast,” Dante replied, not taking his eyes off me.

“Exactly,” Luca continued, glancing at Dante. “Alora was on a date with me, and then she joined Gianni shortly after that. She hasn’t been anywhere near your office since then. How could she have stolen it?”

Dante’s expression tightened as he seemed lost in thought for a moment, then his eyes narrowed. “As much as I want to believe what you're saying, that’s not entirely true,” he said, his voice calm but deadly. “Alora has been to my office. Right after breakfast.”

My heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. “I did go there, but you and Bianca were there too,” I said quickly, desperate to clear my name. “She came in while I was there.”

“Don’t even think about dragging Bianca into this,” Dante growled, his voice dripping with accusation. “Bianca left the office and went straight to the car to leave. She didn’t go anywhere else in the house, and I have proof. Now tell me the truth, Alora. How did this end up in your room?”

But I also left the office at that time. Why would he believe Bianca didn't steal it but I did?

My throat tightened as his words sank in. I looked at Gianni and Luca, both of whom seemed as lost as I was. “I don’t know,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “I swear, I didn’t take it.”

Dante’s voice rose as he ordered sharply, “Everyone out. Now.” Luca and Gianni exchanged glances, trying to protest, but Dante cut them off. “I said get out. Now.”

Gianni squeezed my hand gently before letting go. “Alora, I’ll be right outside,” he murmured, though his face was lined with worry. I nodded, trying to muster a reassuring smile, even though my heart was anything but calm.

When the room emptied and it was just me and Dante, the atmosphere became even more suffocating. He stepped toward me, and I instinctively backed away, my body pressing against the wall. His face was set in a grim expression, and I could feel the chill creeping into my bones.

“Alora,” he said, his voice quiet but filled with a dangerous edge, “I don’t know if you took it or not. But if you did... you need to tell me why. Maybe you just like entire millennium.”

“I swear I didn’t,” I cried, my voice cracking. “Why would I steal anything? I just got here! I didn't even know that this existed. I am being framed. You're in the Mafia. How can you not see that?”

Dante moved so quickly that I didn’t have time to react. His hand gripped my wrist, and pain shot up my arm as his fingers dug into my skin. “Listen to me,” he hissed, his face inches from mine. “I am watching you. If I find out you had anything to do with this, you’ll regret it.”

Then he released me with a rough shove, storming out of the room. I collapsed to the floor, tears spilling from my eyes. I didn’t steal anything. Why was this happening to me? What had I done to deserve this?

Alora's POVI sank down to the floor, crying, my head dropping as despair took hold. Who would plant such evidence against me? I hadn’t even been here for 48 hours, and things like this were already happening to me. Was this how life was going to be from now on? Maybe I should have just refused to stay here and gone out into the dangerous world outside. But deep down, I knew that wasn’t an option—I had already involved myself too deeply to try backing out now.“Alora,” Gianni’s soft voice sounded as he approached, his footsteps barely audible. “Are you okay? Oh my God, what did Dante do to you?” He knelt down beside me, his expression one of worry. “I’m going to go find him right now and give him a piece of my mind. He hurt you, didn’t he?”I wiped my eyes quickly and tried to smile. “I’m fine, Gianni. Really. You have nothing to worry about.”“Alora, you don’t have to pretend,” he insisted, his voice filled with concern. “Dante said or did something to you, didn’t he?”“Gianni, it’s

Alora's POVUnfortunately for me, Bianca began pacing, muttering under her breath, “No… they couldn’t have just left this here. I was here earlier, and this phone wasn’t here… I think someone’s here.”Feeling trapped, I looked around frantically. The restroom was my only option, but I knew it would be the first place she’d search. Left with no other choice, I took a deep breath, stepped out, and pretended I’d just come in, unaware of her presence. I “accidentally” bumped into her, letting my expression shift to surprise.“Bianca? What are you doing here? It’s late, and there aren’t any patients tonight.”She narrowed her eyes, a mocking smile playing on her lips. “Alora, I should have known. What are you doing here? Snooping around, trying to plant poison or who knows what else?”I frowned, holding my ground. “Bianca, you know I didn’t do any of that. You stole that evidence and planted it in my room.”She gasped, feigning shock. “What? How dare you accuse me of something so vile, Alo

Alora's POVDante finally freed me once we reached his office. He dropped me onto the chair, and the pain in my hand was unbearable, causing tears to stream down my face. He stood over me, frustration and confusion etched on his face."Alora, why are you doing this?" he demanded, his voice cold. "I took you in to save your life, but you’re making me rethink my decision. Please, tell me why you’re doing this.""Dante, I didn’t do anything wrong," I said, my voice trembling. "I don’t know why you keep blaming me. I’m innocent. Bianca is the one attacking me for no reason."Dante gripped his hair, then slammed his hand down on the desk, making me jump. "Alora, do you really think I’m a fool? Are you trying to make me look like the bad person here?""Dante, you’re not a bad person. You’ve helped me," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. "But you can't trust Bianca… she’s planning something terrible, not just against me but against others. Against your family."He narrowed his eyes at me,

Alora’s POV"Hand it over," Bianca said.I tightened my fist around the USB flash drive. What could be in here, and how could I get this to Dante?"Don't even think about it," she said, as if reading my thoughts. "Hand it over. Now."I turned around to face her. "Or what, Bianca? What if I don't? I could just scream Dante's name right now. And what would happen?" I said confidently, though my insides were shivering with fear, my nerves on edge at the thought that any moment she could pull the trigger, and I’d be done for."Wow, I see you've grown confident, huh? You don't want to hand it over? Fine, I'll just shoot you, and Dante will come in here. Guess what I'll tell him?" She fiddled with her hair as a smirk stretched across her face. "I'll tell him you came into my room to steal from me. By the time he gets here, that flash drive will be in my keeping. He won't even know it exists."I took a deep breath. Okay, now she sounded scary. I needed to find a way out."So this flash drive

Alora's POVThe room seemed to grow colder by the second, anticipation building with every minute that passed until Dante arrived. Though I knew it had only been five, maybe ten minutes, it felt like he arrived in the blink of an eye.“What’s going on here?” he asked sharply, his gaze landing on me, his eyes widening. “Heavens. Alora… you again? What have you done this time?”Gianni stepped forward, trying to redirect Dante’s attention from me. “Brother, it’s me.”Dante’s gaze snapped to Gianni, his expression a mixture of disbelief and anger. “What are you doing here, Gianni? I thought I told you this room is off-limits. Go play with your gaming computers. I always knew Luca was a bad influence.”At that moment, Luca entered, muttering, “What have I done now?”Dante turned to him, fuming. “Luca, you’re going to stop teaching my brother how to hack. I’ve told you this life isn’t for him—leave him out of it!”Luca raised his hands in defense. “Hey, I didn’t do anything. The kid and I w

Was this what I had been spending time training in my mafia? With just one hand, I grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up, his feet dangling as he struggled to free himself."Boss, please let me go!" His hoarse voice managed to let out. I was out for blood and so I kept holding on, while landing punches of my own on his abdomen."That's how you punch you stupid fool! You all hit like little girls.""Don," Marco’s gruff voice sounds behind me. "You're going to kill all the men with how frequently you're doing this."I dropped the idiot to the floor. He gasped for air, running away to join the other eight men who had already been through the same. I had been trying to let out the rage that had been inside me, but nothing worked. All I could think about was Alora’s tearful face as she was dragged away to the dungeon. But did that mean I was going to pull her

Dante's POVI took a deep breath, feeling my heart race wildly in my chest. No, Alora couldn’t have escaped this dungeon. No one could get past it. Unless maybe the men who brought her here were the ones working with her. Maybe they let her go somehow."Marco," I barked into the phone. "Get me the men who were supposed to lock Alora up.""Yes, don."In no time at all, the two men were brought in front of me, their hands bound. Marco and Vittoria stood behind me, and the two men, almost completely naked, were tied to the poles. I could see the fear in their eyes."So, men, where is the girl?" I asked coldly."I don't understand, don. What do you mean?" one of them stammered."What do you mean, 'you don’t understand'?" I snapped, my voice low with anger. "Where is Alora? The girl you were supposed to lock up? Why isn’t she here?""Boss, we... we don’t..." They exchanged uncertain glances, clearly panicked.I stepped closer to them, my gaze hardening. Alora’s POVA few hours later, I woke up again, expecting to be in the same cold, enclosed space. But apparently, I really was out. I was in the medical bay, connected to an IV line and a heart monitor. My hands were bandaged up to my elbows, and I winced as I remembered how much I had scratched them in that terrifying place.Despite trying hard to forget, my mind kept drifting back to the dungeon. Each time it did, a shiver crept down my spine, making it feel like I was back there, reliving the memories.A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. A girl poked her head in. She looked beautiful, with bright hazel eyes and blonde hair. She looked like a model but had a stronger build than most girls and was a bit on the curvy side.“Hi,” her soft voice greeted me.“Hi.” I paused, studying her. Why did she look so familiar? Oh, I know—she looks like Luca.“My name is Vittoria,” she said, extending her hand.I showed her my hands, and she stared, taking in my injured right wrist.

Office duties?" Anton asked again."Yes, Anton. I have been very busy in the office managing a lot of things," Dante replied. If they were talking about the "office," it probably meant Anton didn't know Dante's true identity. Or maybe he thought I didn't know. Well, it was up to them. While I stood there, all I could feel were my nerves coiling at the thought of what Dante had in mind for me. Damn Luca—why hadn't he told me Dante had left the house? Or maybe Dante had caught on to us earlier than I thought, and there was really nothing we could do to escape it.The men kept discussing for a while as if I didn't exist, and I took that as my perfect opportunity to disappear. Slowly, I slipped down the hallway, moving silently like a pro.I was about two doors away from them when Dante, even w

My legs were hitting the pavement hard as I tried to get away.Nobody was chasing me. Yet.But even as I ran, I felt like someone was about to pounce on me and take me back to the mansion. The look of disappointment and rage on Dante's face propelled my legs forward until I finally spotted a cab.Hailing it, I told the driver to follow Vittoria to the place she had just gone to. The device in my hand was indicating not only her journey but the time it would take for me to meet her.“Right here, sir. Thank you very much,” I said, handing the driver his money. Yes, this time I brought money with me.Although I was doing something risky by being here, a thrill was coursing through me. For the first time in a long time, I felt alive. The desire to explore the city hit so hard that I almost forgot my mission—follow Vittoria, record her, and send it to Luca.I didn't know

Alora's POVI walked into the mansion on trembling feet, relieved that I had managed to fool Vittoria into thinking I was fine. Then again, I doubted she would have noticed anything was wrong. Her attention had been glued to her phone from the moment she saw me until we got into the cars and left the mall.Enough about Vittoria—the real issue was, how did he keep finding me?I checked my hands and neck, searching for any bracelet or jewelry that could have a tracker, but there was nothing. I would have to ask Gianni or Luca about the different ways the Mafia tracked people so easily.Unless… he wasn’t tracking me through something on my body at all.Which could only mean one thing—one of Dante’s men was working with my father. That possibility made too much sense. My father had been finding me at the most unexpected times, even knowing about my private date with Dante in the garden of his mansion. Something was definitely off, and we needed to get to the bottom of it.But now, he had

None of the top people were ever to be suspected. These were my family. But at this point, it seemed like I was going to have to go back on my word and send my men to find out what had Vittoria so occupied—occupied enough to be nervous when I called her to ask why she hadn’t been around much. The knock on my door pulled me from my thoughts.
