Chapter 67

(Third person POV)

Ava saw the maids of the household approaching with the food in their hands and she was shocked when she saw her mother amongst them, it felt to Ava like a dream but she knew it was not a dream, then she asked herself, ‘What is my mother doing here? Serving as a maid?’ Ava didn't speak aloud there but her mind was in complete chaos as she looked at her mother.

Her eyes trailed her mother as she joined the other maids to serve them, despite Ava's mother's attempt to stop her daughter from looking at her like that Ava was too shocked to look away, her eyes still followed her mother as she went back inside the kitchen.

She forgot that she was in front of her in-laws and she didn't realize her mouth was open until Damien leaned close to her and whisper-gritted ‘What are you looking at like a lost child?’ and Ava shivered, jolting out of her daze.
