3. Crime case

When Raina came home, she felt exhausted; she went to her room and lied down in her bed, she stared at the ceiling for some time, she just rested for a while before she heard the door open downstairs, she rushed down and saw her mother over there; she was swaying side to side.

She was drunk again. Raina's mother's wolf was dead after her father died, hence her mother was no better than a human.

She went to her and supported her, “mom, are you alright?” she said as she helped her sit down on the chair and then bring her some water.

Raina’s mother was a very beautiful woman, even in her forties she looked stunning as beautiful as she was when she was in her twenties, it felt like she never aged.

Her mother gave her a smile and said, “How was your day at the college?”

Raina smiled, she can never tell her mother what is going on in her college otherwise she would be heartbroken and might never recover, “it’s going fine, I am enjoying, the students are good and so are the teachers.”

Her mother smiled as she kept her on her face and gently caressed her cheek, “I really want you to complete your education, and become successful, never like me.”

“I will.”

“Raina, always remember education is power.”

Raina smiled and said, “yes, mother, I know that.” She then looked at the bruises of her mother, she stared at her hands and then her neck before her eyes watered and she said, “mother, I will find a job. You should quit this job. You don’t have to sell your body anymore.”

“No! Never, you should only and only focus on your education, train and get stronger, you hear me!”

Raina nodded, although she hated that she couldn’t help her mother.

After talking to her mother, she went back to her room and started doing her assignments.

Meanwhile, when Luke came back to the house, he saw Jayden sitting in the room, looking at some files carefully.

Luke came and sat beside him before he asked, “What are you doing?”

Jayden looked at Luke and said, “I was just going through these old files before burning these are mostly solved cases.”

Luke looked at the papers and his fell on a page, and he picked it up, “Who's he?”

Jayden looked at the photos and sighed before he said, “Donald Hughes, a very brutal tyrant and cruel alpha, he was one most brutal and extremist person.

“What’s his story?” Luke asked as he looked at the photo and Jayden replied, “He was a tyrant, he would torture and abuse his own pack and even terrorize other small packs.

He used to sell the omegas of his own pack; he was basically involved in supernatural trafficking, sex trafficking, human trafficking and a lot of horrible things. And the most of all, he hated humans a lot, and he had killed at least two hundred humans.

Kidnapped some and tortured them and even used them as slaves.”

“Jesus.”

“When Ashley came to know about him, she was the one who had personally killed him and then his brother was made the alpha. But you know what’s interesting? He had a partner as well that was the alpha of other pack. Her name was Crystal Graham, these two were alphas of neighbouring packs, and they both were equally tyrant; however, Ashley had ordered to kill Crystal as well and her pack was given to Donald’s brother Dax to rule.”

Luke listened and then nodded, Jayden then looked at Luke and said, “you know how we were able to catch them?”

“How?” Luke asked.

“Well, you see, when Hayley had gone to the camp to get you, she had appealed to the council for a thorough investigation.

And during the investigations, a lot of things were unpacked.

Including the crimes of these two packs and not just that, it was also discovered that even your father was also a part of this crime ring.

Luke felt sick to the stomach when he heard that. He felt really, really disgusted when he heard that and he kept the paper away, “people like these should really die!”

“Yes, and they did die.” Jayden sighed, “These two packs have been under strict surveillance ever since. Anyway you should focus on your studies more, these kinds of things are nothing new. It happens very often then you think, now go.”

Luke nodded before he went to his room, he thought about everything that Jayden had told him from a while his mind drifted to the college and he smirked as he was eager to go to the college, after all he once again wanted to see his miserable bully.

The next day came soon, and Raina was early to the class, there were not many people in the class other and then on or two, so she smiled as she kept her bag on the table and sat on her seat, she took out her assignment that she had completed last night and was going through them before keeping them in her bag again.

She sat quietly in her seat and was at peace that was until she saw Luke coming inside the room, the latter gave her a smirk before he sat behind her, she felt weird and wanted to change the seat so she got up but before she could even move, her bag was grabbed and she stopped.

She glared at Luke, who gave her a smirk and she said, “let go.”

“Don’t want to.”

“I said let go!” she said and yanked her bag, which resulted in the bag’s zipper being broken and all the contents fell on the ground, she looked at it and bent to pick it up but Luke was faster than her as he grabbed her assignment and went through it.

“What an ugly handwriting.”

“Return it.” She said as she tried to snatch the papers, but Luke moved back and said, “let me see.”

“No, fucking return it!” she said as she jumped at him but he moved to the side before he sighed, “you are so annoying. Here you go.” He said as he held the papers from the middle and then tore them from the middle before throwing them at Raina, “the professor would have done the same after seeing your ugly handwriting.”

Raina stared at her hard work being ruined and there was nothing she could do except stare at Luke.

The teacher soon came to the class and once again, Raina was late to submit her assignment which was the reason why her marks were deducted once again and she got a good scolding as well, since her image in front of the teacher was already down, thanks to Luke.

When she looked at Luke, she saw how she was smiling, which only made her more miserable and so she decided to skip the next class.

She went to her usual bench and sat down on it as she silently cried.

“Are you alright?” she heard a voice and then looked up only to see a handsome young man standing before her, the man gave her a small and shy smile before he handed her a handkerchief.

She took it and said nothing, instead she just wiped her tears before she said, “Thanks.”

“It’s alright, pretty girls like you don’t look good while crying.”

She looked at him and he just gave her a shy smile, “my name is Kevin Gray. Nice to meet you.”

“Raina Hughes, nice to meet you too.” She said, the two talked about random things for a while before Kevin left, leaving Raina alone, she smiled as she saw him leave but her smile didn’t last long as she heard Luke’s voice, “So you have finally found someone worth seducing huh?”
