Davina’s POV

I managed to open my eyes and groaned as I sat up, trying to recall what had happened yesterday. When the memories came rushing back, I frowned.

I had been held hostage yesterday. So much had happened—it began with Draven announcing someone’s execution, followed by the agonizing gasps of the condemned, which left me trembling. Before I knew it, I was taken hostage, a knife pressed to my neck.

Of course.

Another thing I remembered was Hades threatening the man to let me go, and then— I held my head and groaned. Everything was so fuzzy.

I raised my hand to my neck, fighting the urge to curse my luck. I would have died if it hadn’t been for Draven. I couldn’t recall the last thing that happened, but I remembered that just before the knife could pierce me, Draven had saved me. His voice whispered that everything was okay, and then I passed out.

I stretched out my hands, feeling around me. I was in my room. Did that mean everything had turned out okay yesterday?

Evangeline's POV“Daddy, please. Can I just come with you? I promise I won’t do anything, I would just be a good girl,” I pleaded, my lips forming a perfect pout as I stared at him. But, as usual, he didn’t even look up from the papers on his desk.“Daddy, I’m talking to you! Please, I really want to meet the king today. Can I go with you to the palace?” This time, I clung to his arm, swinging it side to side with a sheepish smile, hoping to break his resolve. Yet again, I was ignored. Like I was invisible!I hated being ignored. What I despised even more was not getting what I wanted.“I’m talking to you! Stop acting like you can’t hear me!” I shrieked, my frustration boiling over as I grabbed the files from his desk and flung them to the floor. Papers scattered in every direction, but I wasn’t done. “Listen to me when I’m talking! I already said I was sorry for last time!”I reached for more things to throw—pens, folders, anything within reach. When there was nothing left, I turned

Davina’s POV“Come in,” I heard Hades' cold voice from behind the door, and my heart involuntarily skipped a beat. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and stepped inside.“Your Majesty, I’m here to bring your shirt,” I murmured under my breath, my voice barely audible. I felt his sharp gaze flicker toward me, but then he turned away, acting as though I wasn’t there. Keeping my head lowered, I walked to the bed, my hand stretching forward as I carefully set the freshly ironed shirt down from the tray I was holding.I turned to leave, but his voice stopped me in my tracks. Quickly, I turned around and bowed, though his next words made my eyebrows arch in surprise.“Come here and help me change.”I gasped at the unexpected request. Helping him change wouldn’t have been unusual—I was a servant, after all, and assisting the king with his needs was part of my duties. But what startled me was that Hades had ignored me for the past three days since the attack. Whenever I came to his chamb

Davina’s POV A scream tried to escape my lips, but all I could manage was a sharp gasp. I shut my eyes and braced myself for the inevitable fall, but before I could hit the ground, a firm hand seized my arm, halting me mid-descent. “Oh goddess, you have to be careful,” an unfamiliar female voice said lightly behind me. “It could be really dangerous if you fell, you could break a bone or two, or worse, you could die.” It wasn’t a mistake. That was the first thought that came to my mind. It couldn’t be—because it was a deliberate shove from behind. “Are you okay? You were just about to fall,” the person asked with a sigh, pulling me to safety. I would have believed it was a sincere question if it weren’t for the slight excitement and mockery dripping from her voice. I clenched my fist by my side and took a deep breath to calm myself. I didn’t want to react, not like I did with Stella and Marie. I couldn’t afford anyone finding out about my identity, so I had to be careful. “Thank

He jabbed me in the side with his elbow, nearly knocking the wind out of me. “Well? Is she here?”I groaned, clutching my ribs. “I don’t know, and I don’t want to know. Last time I checked, my job description didn’t include bait for little demons.” I whispered and his highness turned to me, his eyes narrowing like he was plotting something. “Go check, Draven.” “Nope. Not happening.” I shook my head so hard it was a miracle my neck didn’t snap. “I can’t do it, Your Highness. Please I like being alive.”He jabbed me again and smirked with an eyeroll. “You’re exaggerating. Just go look!” “I’m not exaggerating. Last time, she threw a rock at me because I didn't want to tell her where you were hiding, A rock, your highness! And then she laughed like a tiny, maniacal goblin. I’m still traumatized.” He rolled his eyes yet again but didn’t get up. He peeked from behind the

Draven’s POVPresent day.“Oh dear, you haven’t changed one bit, Evangeline. You’re still the spoiled brat you always were.” I remarked, stepping out of the shadows and into the scene where the drama was unfolding."Beta Draven," everyone murmured in greeting as I approached. My eyes flicked to Davina for a moment, and I couldn’t help but scoff slightly. This girl was a magnet for trouble—every time I saw her, she was either being assaulted, bullied, or caught up in some kind of chaos. And every time, I knew she was only pretending to be weak, as if she couldn’t fight or defend herself. The reason? I didn’t know, and that was exactly what intrigued me. I wanted to uncover the truth, and I was determined to find out."Beta Draven!" Evangeline’s voice snapped my attention away from Davina. I frowned as my gaze landed on her, instantly assaulted by the blindingly bright pink she was wearing—or barely wearing, to be more precise. The color was so loud it could probably be seen from space.

I didn’t bother looking up, my attention fixed on the pages as I flipped through them, my expression cold and unreadable.“The previous king noticed changes in Thorne immediately after the prophecy and began investigating him. But it wasn’t long before Thorne orchestrated the attack on the late king and queen to seize the throne.”“Is this all the information you’ve gathered?” I asked, my tone icy as my eyes narrowed, a frown forming on my lips. “There’s something missing. I distinctly remember Father mentioning Thorne’s source of wolfsbane, but there’s no mention of it here.”Ethan shook his head “He wasn't able to find the source before the attack, your majesty”.I took a slow, deliberate breath, tapping my fingers rhythmically on the armrest of the throne. My gaze locked onto Ethan, a single brow arched, the corner of my lips curling into a sharp, knowing smirk.“You know what happens t

Davina’s POV“Test her blood and find out what rank she is—if she’s truly an omega or something higher.”My heart hammered against my chest, and for a second, I wondered if everyone else could hear it too. I couldn’t believe what had just come out of Beta Draven’s mouth.Check my rank? He wanted to test my blood to determine what rank I belonged to. Why? Of course, it was because he suspected something.I wanted to bolt out of the door and run out of the clinic to goddess knows where but I stopped myself because it would definitely look more suspicious if I did that. Just stay calm, Davina, stay calm.“Rank?” Rylie asked, his voice laced with confusion. “But isn’t she an omega? Why would you need to check her rank?”I nodded along with Rylie, grateful for his sense of logic. I turned my head in Draven’s direction, focusing on the steady rhythm of his breathing. His gaze bore into me, like he thought I could somehow see it.“Yes, Beta Draven. I am merely an omega,” I said, keeping my

Davina’s POVJust as I shifted, ready to make my escape, Rylie’s voice sliced through the tension. “The results are out, Beta Draven, and—holy Moon Goddess in a tutu, it’s the k-king.” A heavy silence filled the air, as if the world had been paused by an invisible hand. Then, suddenly, it felt like someone hit play. A gasp escaped me as I reached for the edges of the bed, my heart pounding in panic. I tried to stop myself from falling, but it was too late. I hit the ground with a loud thud as pain shot through my buttocks. I fought the urge to rub it and to whine as embarrassment burned through me, feeling as the weight of everyone’s gaze pinned me down, leaving me frozen in place. It was humiliating—truly humiliating—but I had no time to dwell on it. The test results were out, and to make matters worse? Hades was here. My chances of leaving this place alive had just dropped to zero.“What result?” Hades asked, his tone calm but had a slight hint of danger like he wasn't just about

Davina povI groaned, my body aching so much it felt as if I could barely move. A whimper escaped my lips as I tried to sit up, but the pain was overwhelming, making every movement excruciating. My head swam, and I fought to steady myself, gripping the bedframe for support. The world around me seemed to spin, and I couldn't help but close my eyes, hoping the pain would subside.I clutched my head and tried to remember what happened last night. Everything seemed fuzzy, and I couldn't think straight.“What do you think you are doing with my mate?“King, please stop…”“Do you love that bastard? Is that why you were so eager to act like a whore for him? Or is it that you don’t give a damn who it is—so long as they’re willing to fuck you”I gasped as memories from last night flooded my mind. Every word, every thrust, every cry of pleasure and pain echoed in my ears, and my body trembled as I recalled what Hades had done. Before I knew it, my fist had halted just inches away from her head, the air thick with tension. My eyes narrowed, and my frown deepened as I watched her stand in front of that bastard, her arms spread out and her eyes closed, as if she was willing to take the hit for him. A growl rumbled from deep within me, my lips curling into a wicked smirk before I even realized it.Without thinking, I gripped her hand and yanked her toward me, her body crashing against mine, startling her in the process.“Hades...” she blurted out in shock, hissing as my grip on her tightened.“You must really have a death wish, don't you?” I asked, my voice surprisingly calm despite the storm raging within me. I held her firmly against me. “First, you betray me, and then you shield him. What is it? Do you love him? Do you wish he was your mate instead?” I added with a cold chuckle, our faces only inches apart.Damn it, I was barely holding myself toge

I gasped, landing on the ground with a soft thud, my head turning toward the commotion.“How dare you! How dare you touch her, you bastard!” Hades roared, the sickening crack of bones shattering slicing through the tense air.My shaky hands moved to my ears in a desperate attempt to block out the sounds, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't escape them. My body felt unnaturally hot—burning, unbearable, and the crystal tattoo on my chest flared with heat, as if reacting to whatever was happening to me.What was happening to me? The drink... I didn’t answer right away, my gaze sharpening on some invisible point as I blocked out the surrounding noise, the music fading into the background. The girl hanging from the tree—the little monkey. I remembered her, how could I forget? I had nearly lost my life trying to protect her. I met her years ago, the day I had snuck away from the ongoing hunting games, desperate for a break from everything and everyone. That day, she had offered me a kind of comfort, though she hadn’t even realized it. She was not like anyone else— she was unique and, most importantly, she didn't fawn over me or cower in fear like the others. She was… different. She was something I desperately needed that day and that was what intrigued me about her. But she was already dead. She had died the sam

Draven pov “Beta Draven,” a voice interrupted the conversation I was having, breaking my train of thought. I turned my head toward the sound and saw Marie standing before me, her head bowed in submission. My lips tugged into a frown as I watched her closely. This girl, along with another, had always bullied Davina. They were also the same ones caught spying on her that day. The only reason I let them walk away alive then was to avoid creating any unnecessary drama that might draw the king’s attention. And now, as I stood here, a reminder of my reckless moment with Davina haunted me. Almost kissing the king’s woman was a crime, one that could easily lead to my death if discovered. “What do you want? I hope you know this better be important for you to interrupt me—otherwise...” I asked coldly, my voice void of patience as her mere presence seemed to irritate me. “B-Beta Draven, it’s about the madam, I saw—” Her words faltered as I narrowed my eyes, stepping closer. “You saw what

Davina povSomething was horribly wrong.I couldn't pinpoint when it started, or how it all began, but I knew something was off. It started when a maid had approached Eva. She mentioned that her brother, Emmanuel, was looking for her. Eva had hesitated, reluctant to leave me alone, but Rylie assured her he would stay by my side. That was until he received an emergency call from the pack’s clinic and had to rush out.He didn’t want to leave, but I reassured him. I wasn’t a child. I could stay right where I was. After that, everything became a blur. Someone—no, Stella—had come up to me with a tray, offering a drink. I didn’t want to take anything from her, not especially after she had bullied me, but she insisted, saying that the king had noticed I hadn’t been drinking and asked her to bring me orange juice. Reluctantly, I took the drink, trusting that it was harmless. But only a few minutes after drinking it, my body began to react. A heat spread through me, intense and burning, as if

I kept my head bowed, my face burning hot. If my cheeks got any redder, I might as well have been mistaken for a ripe tomato."Did you hear it last night?" someone whispered, their voice carrying just enough for me to catch."The screams? Oh, everyone heard it. But as I looked at the girl groaning while trying to sit up on the ground, I couldn’t help but feel amused—and a little intrigued.Usually, people would fawn over me and bend to my every whim, eager to please and let me have whatever I desired. At first, it was thrilling—having everything handed to me without question. But over time, it grew tiresome, predictable, and unbearably dull. Then, when I was named the next in line to be the Lycan King, it only got worse. Suddenly, the world’s eyes were on me, every move scrutinized, every word echoed back like gospel. It was suffocating, maddening—a constant pressure that left no room to breathe, let alone be myself."Are you crazy?!" the girl snapped, her eyes narrowing into a sharp glare as she shot up so quickly I could hear the sound of her bones cracking. She froze at the noise, her mouth opening an

10 years agoDavina pov“Help! Help me!” I screamed, clutching the tree branch as if my life depended on it. And, well, if you think about it, it really did. Because once I let go of this branch, I'd either fall to my doom or take a nasty tumble that would probably involve some broken bones and a very bruised ego. My breath was coming in panicked gasps, my heart was beating a little faster than necessary, and I was starting to question how I ended up in such a ridiculous situation.“I hate you for luring me into this trap!” I hissed, glaring at the bird in my hand, which I had somehow named Shelly—yes, Shelly. I don’t know why, I just did. Shelly, the bird who led me up this towering tree that I was now precariously clinging to, barely holding on for dear life. How did I end up here? How did a ten-year-old even climb this tree without being completely ridiculous?Well, it all started innocently enough. I was walking along with the maids and my utterly annoying, spoiled four-year-old y
