"You shouldn’t be here." Lila’s voice trembled, betraying the iron resolve she clung to. Cassian smirked, his broad frame blocking the doorway. "And yet, here I am." His gaze lingered on her, dark and hungry. "You didn’t think I’d let you go so easily, did you?" Two years ago, he shattered her heart with a rejection that still stung like a fresh wound. Now, the powerful Alpha stood in her doorway, his scent wrapping around her like a forbidden promise. "You made your choice, Cassian," she said, stepping back, even as her pulse quickened. "I’ve moved on." "Have you?" His voice was low, dangerous, as he closed the distance between them. "Because I haven’t. Every moment without you has been hell." Lila’s breath hitched as his hand brushed her cheek, the touch sparking a fire she thought had long since burned out. "You don’t get to do this," she whispered, though her body betrayed her, leaning into him. "I’ll do whatever it takes to make you mine again," he growled, his lips just a breath away from hers. "Even if I have to fight the entire world you to prove it." But Cassian isn’t the only one after her heart. And this time, Lila refuses to be anyone’s second choice.

Lila's POV

I was standing in the middle of the pack's clearing, under the beautiful moonlight, clad in a beautiful silver gown.

With no jewelry or make-up, the only embellishment on me was the red flower tucked into my left ear.

All eyes were glued to me like I was some celebrity. And rightly so, because tonight was a very special occasion, to me, and to everyone present.

Excitement, nervousness, uncertainty, fear- The meld of these emotions made a mess of my head but I still willed myself to put up a bold front.

"Is he here yet?" My wolf, Bilana, stirred for the nth time and howled impatiently in my head.

Her words fell on deaf ears as I struggled to calm down my raging emotions.

At the front of the surrounding crowd stood a white-veiled woman who was in her middle years and holding a long, twisted wooden staff that had a subtly gleaming white gemstone perched at the top.

She was dressed in splendiferous sky-blue attire and aureate jewellery adorned her from head to toe. She served as the pack's moon priestess and would be the officiant of tonight’s event.

"Stay calm, Lila,” I internally hyped myself as I clasped my hands in front of me while staring at the direction my mate was to appear from.

It didn't take long for me to smell the refreshing scent of coconuts and milk — the special scent of my fated mate.

Bilana stirred again, more impatient than before.

"He's here. Our mate is here, Lila!" Bilana declared, overcome with joy. Her excitement was infectious and I couldn't help but smile, knowing that she was just as excited as I was.

Surprisingly, he didn't come through the path that was arranged specifically for him. Instead, the pack members formed a path to let him through.

My mate had black hair, a sculptured jawline, and a face that could only belong to the creator's bias.

The moment our eyes locked, I felt the effect of our bond through my veins along with the frenzied thumping of my heart.

They say when you meet Mr. Right, your heart will acknowledge him, I guess that's true in my case now.

As he made his way towards me, an aura of stateliness exuded him and the pack members deferently bowed their heads, one hand across their chest, chorusing, "Greetings, Your Majesty. Long may you live!"

Yes, my mate was the ruler of this pack— Alpha Cassian Thorn, of Bloodstone Pack.

In my head, my wolf was already prancing about, encouraging me to meet him halfway and stop being transfixed like an idiot.

But I didn't pay heed.

Watching this handsome specimen of a mate built like a shredded linebacker was more than a feast for the eyes.

Knowing each step he took would bring him closer to my spot, my heart started a wild marathon, and a thousand butterflies congregated in the depths of my gut.

I felt like I couldn't breathe when he finally stood in front of me, shirtless, with all his enrapturing tattoos and rock-solid abs on display.

Goddess, he was so perfect. I must have saved a million lives in my past life to be blessed with such good luck.

The moon priestess soon initiated the mating ceremony and minutes later, she handed me a bowl of sweet-smelling red liquid.

According to tradition, I was to drink from it first and have him drink from it as well. After this, we would be taking our vows and I would be crowned Luna by the moon priestess.

However, when it was time for me to hand the bowl to him with both hands, he did something I never expected, even in my dreams.

He knocked it off my hand. The liquid spilled, staining the skirt of my long gown and the earthenware bowl landed on the ground in unmendable fragments.

I stood, transfixed, gazing at him with disbelief written all over my face. My heart quickly dropped out of the marathon it had been participating in until this point and was about to sink into my gut.

I could hear the ripples of gasps and murmurs from the crowd but didn’t pay attention to them. Rather, I fixed my attention on my mate, searching his face for possible answers.

Why did he do that?

It wasn’t a mistake, he had done it deliberately. But why?

Everything up to this point was going great.

“Al…Alpha, what's going on?” I mustered the courage to ask, even though I had an ominous feeling in my gut. "D-did I do anything wrong?"

Pools of tears had gathered in my eyelids, threatening to cascade down my cheeks but I willed them back. I couldn't let the pack see me as a weakling.

And a big part of me didn’t want to accept anything negative, still wanted to cling to the hope that nothing more would go wrong from this point, but I was wrong.

“You are not worthy, Lila,” came his words to me with a look of disgust.

My eyes dilated at his words that cut deep into my heart, I felt my head reeling. I wished someone would tell me this was all a dream.

“You are an Omega, of a lower class, Lila. I cannot honor this wrong matchup from the goddess,” he turned his back on me and wanted to leave, but I blocked his path.

“Alpha…” I muttered, stifling a sob, "Why're you doing this to me? Yesterday, you said you would...."

He shoved me and wasn't merciful with the might he utilized at all. I fell to the ground miserably in that instant.

I struggled to sit up and all I saw were people already making fun of me, taking pleasure in my predicament.

The Alpha was now facing me. Maybe I saw wrong, but there, for a moment, was a trace of regret in his eyes, but it was quickly gone in a flash.

"Alpha," even though I knew how high the odds were that he wasn't going to change his mind, I still latched on to his leg as he tried to leave.

Tonight was supposed to be the happiest night of my life but now, I've been reduced to the butt of an unfunny joke.

My wolf was as sad as me, whimpering in my head. She didn't understand why our mate would do this to us.

I had no time to comfort her, I needed comfort myself. I needed someone to pinch me and say the king was just joking around.

By the Alpha's order, a guard pulled me away from my mate and pushed me to the ground. My outfit got covered in wet mud and a few cuts had appeared on my skin, courtesy of the bowl's fragments.

To add salt to the injury, my mate chose this time to say the dreaded words, "I, Alpha Cassian Thorn of Bloodstone pack,"

I looked up at my mate, shaking my head repeatedly, lips pursed to stifle a cry.

"...hereby reject you, Lila Nightshade, as my mate and Luna,"

At that, I heard applause and cheers, especially from the pack's females.

"Way to go, Your Majesty," I heard someone say, whistling at the end of his praise.

"The thought of her becoming Luna and lording over us from tomorrow onwards has been making me sick to my guts. I'm so glad the Alpha rejected her,"

"Yeah, that's a doomed pairing in the first place. His Majesty is wise, it's best to keep the royal lineage unblemished by a rogue's daughter,"

Amidst all this, I watched in sorrow as the man I was supposed to be bonded with tonight, walked away without so much as sparing me a glance.

With the Alpha gone, many in the crowd started throwing things at me like I was some accursed criminal.

I resolved in my heart right away that I would leave this moon-damned pack if no one wanted me.

Wiping off my tears, and telling my wolf internally to suck it up, I ran away from the pack's clearing.

No one followed me but I could hear the laughter and mocking remarks increase behind me.

This was it. I was done being pathetic and mocked. Staying with those despised rogues didn't sound like a bad idea.

And with that in mind, I left the pack for good without taking any belongings.

Lila's journey from heartbreak to badassery is both infuriating and inspiring. Cassian's arrogance had me rolling my eyes, but damn, the chemistry between them is undeniable. The plot twists? Didn't see them coming. If you're into intense drama and steamy romance, this one's for you

Lila’s POVIt's been two years since that soul-piercing and humiliating night. After I ran into the shadows of Silverwood forest that night, I encountered two rogues who eventually brought me to their leader, Danny VaxtonOne good thing I learned about rogues is that, unlike those packs out there, they don't discriminate because of one's wolf rank. Now, I'm a well-trained rogue fighter and no longer the weakling of the past.I've become more mature, and although I'm not shredded like most female rogues in the community, it can be seen that I'm more than feminine curves, I pack a rather hurtful punch despite my petite size.Rogues train and spar every day with their lives on the line; A puss cannot survive in this harsh environment.I stare at my reflection in the mirror one more time.I'm dressed in a black fitted crop top and bum shorts. Alpha Cassian’s POVI was with my Beta, Kael, discussing tense issues when I perceived a familiar scent.I thought my nose was fucking with me. It had done that quite too many times to recount. When I realized Lila was no longer present in the pack two years ago, I felt regret. I knew I had broken her too much.My wolf refused to talk to me to date. He blamed me for rejecting our mate despite his warning. I employed my men to find her but they couldn’t. And I didn’t want to believe she would ever head into rogue’s territory. So a part of me believed she might have died.I hated myself for making such a bad decision. When I was walking towards her that night, I suddenly thought she, as a weak Omega, couldn’t handle the responsibilities of being Luna. She didn’t look like she could even command a fly say less of my pack members. I listened to one of the pack elders who warned that my firstborn could be an omega like her.In addition to that, he stressed that if I accepted her, I would b

Lila's POVI stormed out of the clearing, leaving Cassian and his pitiful apology behind. How dare he think a simple "I'm sorry" would erase the pain he'd caused me? I'd rather die than forgive him.As I walked, the trees seemed to blur together, and my feet carried me on autopilot. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I had to get away from Cassian.Suddenly, a hand grasped my arm, spinning me around. Kael stood before me, his eyes blazing with intensity."Lila, wait," he said, his voice low and urgent. "Don't go back to the rogues. Stay here, with us."I laughed, a harsh, mocking sound. "You think I'd stay here after what Cassian did to me? You think I'd ever trust him again?"Kael's grip on my arm tightened. "I'm not asking you to trust Cassian. I'm asking you to trust me."I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. "What makes you think I'd trust you, Kael?"He took a step closer, his eyes burning with sincerity. "Because I've always been on your side, Lila. Even when C

Lila's POVI stood in the middle of the training room, my eyes fixed on Danny, who was standing opposite me. He was holding a sword, and his eyes gleamed with a mixture of excitement and menace."Today, we're going to learn how to fight," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Or, at least, how to try not to get killed."I gritted my teeth, feeling a surge of anger. Who did Danny think he was, talking to me like that? But I pushed the anger aside, focusing on the task at hand. I had to learn how to fight, and fast. The rogues were not going to give me any quarter.Danny charged at me, his sword flashing in the dim light of the training room. I dodged to the side, avoiding his blow by mere inches. But Danny was relentless. He kept coming at me, his sword slicing through the air with deadly precision. I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as I wondered what he had planned.Kael stepped forward, his eyes locked onto mine. Cassian's POV I stood in the shadows, watching as Lila and Kael stumbled through the darkness. The fear and uncertainty emanating from them was palpable, and I could feel my excitement growing. This was it – the moment I had been waiting for. As I stepped forward, the lights flickered back to life, illuminating the long, opulent hallway. Lila and Kael blinked in the sudden brightness, their eyes scanning the area as if searching for an escape. But there was no escape – not from me. I smiled, my eyes locking onto Lila's. She looked so fragile, so vulnerable, and yet I knew that she was stronger than she appeared. I had seen the fire in her eyes, the determination that drove her. And I knew that I had to be careful. "Lila," I said, my voice low and husky. "Welcome home." Lila's eyes narrowed, her jaw setting in determination. "What do you want from me, Cassian?" she spat. I chuckled, the sound echoing through the hallway. "Oh, Lila. You know exactly what I want. I want you. And I'

cassian's POV I sat in stunned silence for a moment, my eyes fixed on the empty doorway. Lila had escaped, and I was left sitting here, feeling like a fool. But only for a moment. I slammed my fist on the desk, making Victor jump. "Get after her!" I bellowed. "I want her caught, now!" Victor nodded and took off, racing out of the office to chase after Lila. I followed close behind, my heart pounding with excitement. This was it. The chase was on. I ran through the hallways, my footsteps echoing off the walls. I could hear the sound of Lila's footsteps ahead of me, and I knew I was gaining on her. But Lila was quick. She dodged and weaved through the hallways, using her knowledge of the castle to evade me. I snarled in frustration, my anger growing with every step. I was not going to let her get away. Suddenly, I heard the sound of footsteps stopping. I skidded to a halt, my eyes scanning the hallway. cassian's POVI stared at Victor, my mind reeling. "What did Lila take?" I demanded.Victor hesitated, his eyes darting nervously around the room. "The royal seal," he said finally.I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. The royal seal was the symbol of our kingdom's power and authority. Without it, our rule was meaningless.I turned to Victor, my eyes blazing with anger. "How did she get past security?" I growled.Victor shook his head. "I don't know, sir. But I think we have a bigger problem on our hands."I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"Victor hesitated, his eyes locked on mine.
