Davina’s POV

The moon hung high, casting shadows across the courtyard. I stood in the clearing, my breath steady, my muscles tensed with anticipation as I watched the man before me with narrowed eyes.

I swiftly moved to the side, barely avoiding the hand that came at me. Shifting my stance, determination fueled me and I charged forward, using my fist to direct a blow at him.

“Too slow” He frowned as he deflected my attack effortlessly with his hand. I yelled in frustration and directed a kick to his side but he seemed almost bored as he avoided me, sidestepping the attack with ease, his eyes never leaving mine for a second.

His attention was on me, watching and accessing my every move. His eyes flashed amber when he noticed my kick and he jumped back, dodging it.

“Too predictable” He yawned, blocking my punch with just a casual flick of his wrist. Strands of my wet hair stuck to my face as I groaned, my breath coming out uneven. I watched him smirk, undisturbed and unbothered.

I was angry, frustrated, and gasping for breath. Sparring with Father wasn’t exactly how I’d imagined spending the day before my 18th birthday. But, of course, my relentless father had other plans. According to him, since tomorrow would mark my first shift, I needed to push myself harder than ever.

I glared at him, wanting to at least land a strike since I was going to suffer but I knew that was impossible. My fighting was as bad as my grades and against an Alpha, I stood no chance.

He cleared his throat when he noticed I was glaring at him. “Alright, come at me kiddo. I won't avoid you this time I promise” He said with a smile and my eyes instantly brightened. I quickly aimed a punch at his ribcage, but before I could react, I watched him chuckle, catching my wrist in his grip.

“Tsk, too naive” In a blur of motion, Father twisted my arm behind my back, forcing me to my knees. “I give up, I give up!” I yelled, tapping him with my hand for him to release me. He laughed as I rolled my eyes at him, not finding it funny.

“Dad!” I pouted as he handed me a towel to dry myself. I could see him trying to keep his laughter down which only annoyed me further.

“Why do you always make me train when you know I hate it?” I asked and he finally stopped laughing, looking at me with a serious expression.

“Because you are the protector, Davina. You have to learn to train and–”

“And control your powers” I finished his sentence, knowing what he was going to say. Sometimes I always wondered why he called me the protector and what kind of powers he and Mother always talked about.

“Dad”

“I will tell you everything tomorrow, I promise” He smiled, using his hands to pat my hair. His eyes moved to the necklace on my neck and I followed his gaze, using my hand to touch the necklace.

The necklace he had given me on my 10th birthday, he had made me promise to never take it off and I haven't since then, even when these days, the crystal kept getting hot. It had started a few days ago, it would burn red for a while before restoring back to its original color, white.

“Davina!” I looked up to see my twelve year old brother running towards me. I laughed as he eyed Father with a glare. “Dad, stop pushing her so hard, she is a girl you know” He scolded and Father scoffed, crossing his arms together.

“Then should I train you instead?” Sebastian’s eyes widened in pure horror as he shook his head.

“What I meant is that, you should train her much harder, she is really lacking behind”.

I snorted and hit his head, watching as he threw me an apologetic smile.

“Enough training you guys, come and eat” Mother yelled and we all looked at her with a smile as we made our way to the packhouse.

“Good afternoon Alpha” The maids greeted with smiles and Father returned the greetings. Everyone respected him since he's a great leader and a good man. He always made sure everyone got a fair share of the pack resources. I had always hoped that  I would be able to lead the pack like him when I grow older.

“Oh! We are having my favorite today” Father smiled in delight, kissing Mother's head. I rolled my eyes as I watched him act like a love stricken teenager.

“Let's eat,” Mother smiled as we all sat down. Taking a bite from food, I nodded my head in satisfaction. Mother was a good cook, it was obvious from the way Father and Sebastian wolfed down the food.

“Take it easy boys” Mother shook her head and I laughed.

“They are animals, Mother. What do you expect?”

“Well technically if you put two and two together then we are all part animal” Sebastian voiced out and Father high fived him, chuckling.

“Speaking about that, my daughter will finally be able to shift to her wolf for the first time tomorrow” Mother giggled and I smiled, excited about what color my wolf’s fur would be.

“What are you getting for my birthday gift” I asked and just as Father was about to answer. Elijah, his Beta walked in stopping our conversation.

“Alpha Dalton, I am sorry to disturb you but this is urgent” We immediately quiet down, the atmosphere now intense. I could see the fear in Elijah’s eyes when he whispered in Father’s ear.

Father’s gaze turned serious, almost sinister as he stared ahead, taking in the news. I had never seen Father make that expression before and I knew I would forever remember it.

“What happened, honey?” Mother reached out to touch his hand, snapping him out of his daze. He turned to her and uttered only one sentence.

“The Lycan king has been killed.”.

Everywhere fell slient and Mother’s hand shot up and covered her mouth as we all stared in shock. The Lycan king was the leader and the strongest among the werewolves so how could he have been killed?

“I am needed in the palace immediately”. Father stood up, grabbing his coat from the chair before kissing Mother and Daniel on the head.

He turned to me and tried to smile, to reassure me but I knew something bad was going to happen.

“Dad” Before I knew it, I held his hand tightly. The words I was about to say got stuck in my throat and I couldn't utter a word.

“I'm sorry that I have to go, kiddo. I will be back tomorrow and we will celebrate your birthday together” He promised, giving me an apologetic kiss on the head.

“You promise?” I asked, holding his hand. I didn't want him to leave. I wanted him to stay and not go to the palace, who knew what was going on there, how dangerous it was right now.

“Yes, I promise and you will get your birthday gift by then”. He said and his gaze fell to my necklace. He looked hesitant, as if holding back something he didn’t want to say.

“If something happens, something that leaves you no choice then break the crystal”

I stared at him, bewildered, my heart racing so fiercely that I could almost hear its echo in my ears. When I met his intense gaze, I nodded, earning a proud smile from him.

He turned to Mother, giving her one last reassuring smile before leaving with his beta.

“Dad will be back, right?” I asked Mother, my voice barely above a whisper as I grasped Sebastian’s hand. She forced a smile, nodding her head but deep down, a chilling thought crossed through my mind.

Something bad was going to happen.

Davina’s POV“Wake up, Davina. You need to wake up now” I felt a hand on my shoulder, shaking me awake. My eyes fluttered open, and the world came into focus. I had fallen asleep while waiting for Father, I groaned and sat up, staring at the person before me.“Mom?” I asked, trying to adjust to the darkness. When I finally did, my eyes widened in horror at the sight before me. Mother’s face was close to mine, but something was wrong. Blood was smeared across her cheeks, her lips trembled as she held Sebastian close and both had tears falling from their eyes.“Mom, are you okay?” I whispered, my voice barely audible over the pounding in my ears. The sight of the blood staining her clothes, dripping from wounds I couldn’t even make sense of, sent a chill down my spine. My heart raced and my hands reached out instinctively.“Davina, listen to me” She held my hands as tears fell from her cheek “Your father-” She took a harsh breath, trying to form coherent words.“Your father is dead.”T

Davina’s POVFive years later. “We have item sixteen, a twenty-year-old she-wolf who has been trained to fulfill a man’s every desire. Perfectly obedient, Perfectly broken, what more could a man want.” There were sounds of chuckles as Valen paused before continuing. “This item is only on lease for 15 days though and she must be returned in the perfect state so let's start the bidding at twenty silver!”.“Thirty sliver!” Someone yelled.“Sixty sliver” Another countered.I had my head down as I listened behind the curtain with the other people that had been arranged in a line to be sold like commodities. We were commodities if you think about it, the moment you entered the Veil Auction house, your life and death did not matter and you would be only seen as an object whether you liked it or not.“Eighty slivers!” Valen’s voice cut through the crowd. “Eighty silver, going once… going twice…” There was total silence as he paused for a breath before bringing his gavel down. “Sold!”Soun

HADES POVI tapped my fingers continuously in a rhythm as I gazed down at the stage below. My eyes were glued on the figure that had her head down, her hair is white, just like the little tattered dress that did nothing to hide her small body.“Ladies and gentlemen, our next item is a true prize among our ranks. I present to you a pure breeder”.A breeder, huh? I tilted my head with a frown as her scent- lavender and a mixture of honey continued to draw me in, almost like a spell, igniting my senses. “Item twenty five is rare, breeders like her have an extraordinary ability to pass on formidable traits, ensuring that any offspring will be powerful and resilient. Her bloodline is a rare treasure-one that can elevate any pack to greatness”.“Bidding starts at one hundred silver!”.“Three hundred sliver!”“Five hundred!”“Mate” Cyrus, who had been quiet since we got here, suddenly growled in my mind, making me scoff.“No”.“What do you mean no?” Cryus asked menacingly.“I can't smell

Davina’s POVThe Lycan King is my mate.I felt my heartbeat racing with each passing second, I tried to control my breathing and appear as small as possible away from him but when he leaned closer, I felt an intense spark from his touch alone, and a foreign sensation pulled between my legs, invoking a moan from within me.I held my breath and replayed his earlier words in my head. “No one can know you’re my mate” I swallowed and my heart tightened in pain. Why didn't reject me instead? Even if he didn't necessarily reject me, I could still feel the slight pain of rejection coursing through me.He didn't seem like he wanted me and he could have left me at the auction house if he didn't want anyone to know I was his mate so why did he buy me.My stomach dropped as a thought flashed through my mind. I closed my legs tighter and raised up my head slightly towards his direction but quickly looked down when I felt his eyes on me.He had remained silent during the rest of the journey. He ha

You want to take her– to feel her” “Let's mark her, Hades. I want to feel her warmth. Her scent is driving me insane” Cyrus spoke again with an impatient growl but I ignored him, fingers flipping through the pages and eyes scanning the content of the file yet my mind was clouded with other thoughts.I couldn't pay the slightest attention to what I was reading but it didn't seem that what I was looking at was worthy of my attention either. Another waste of time, I frowned and narrowed my eyes.“Your majesty, the first agender today is the allocation of resources” The royal advisor announced with a loud voice. I didn't raise my head– only continued flipping through the poor attempt of a proposal with an unimpressed expression.“Your majesty, we need to allocate more funds to the northern region. Davina’s POV “Get her cleaned up” Emmanuel ordered and I held the hem of my dress tighter. “Make sure she is properly dressed too and give her suppressant, she must not get pregnant since she will be spending the night with the Lycan king”. I froze the moment those words were uttered. A chill ran down my spine, my heart pounding in my chest. Every nerve in my body went rigid as my mind scrambled to process the weight of what had just been said. Did I hear wrong? Suppressant? Spending the night with the Lycan king? My legs almost gave way but I stretched my hand out to hold onto anything that was near me– I touched a hard surface and I held the edge of the table, keeping my body steady to stop myself from falling. "Oh, Moon Goddess. Is that true? What could the Lycan King possibly see in her?" one of the girls murmured, her words heavy with disbelief. I could feel their stares pressing down on me and they carried a weight of judgment and resentment. "Right? She looks like

HADES POV I rushed through the corridor, the sound of my footsteps muffled by the thick carpet. The air was suffocating, it felt like I was drowning. I couldn't breathe but I couldn't stop. I had to get to them—had to reach them before it was too late. As I ran, the air was thick with tension, heavy with the scent of something darker—blood. Lifeless bodies laid sprawled across the ground, ruined, mutilated and broken— left forever in the cold embrace of death. It was a sight that would leave even the goddess in tears. “Prince!” As I turned the corner, the warriors followed closely behind, urging me to turn back, that it was too dangerous but I didn't stop, I couldn't. “Please…” I silently begged as I stopped at the grand doors of the throne room. Blood splattered on the door and my heart lurched in my chest at the sight. I hesitated. It was a brief moment but I hesitated as I stood frozen in place. Hades pov. “Moon Goddess.” The words slipped from my mouth before I could stop them, and I froze, my eyes locked onto the woman before me. She was exactly as I remembered— unchanged, untouched by time. The same presence that had left everyone speechless that day, the same piercing eyes that seemed to strip away all privacy, as if she could read every thought in my mind. And that same knowing smile, the one she wore when she named me king instead of Thorne. It was all there. “Hades, my child… my favorite child.” Her smile widened as she gazed at me, an unsettling warmth in her eyes. My expression remained unreadable as I bowed my head in respect. There was only one being in this world that a king could bow to— only one deity worthy of such reverence. Not a mere person, but the Moon Goddess herself. The mother of all werewolves. “Greetings to the goddess,” I said, my voice cold. Almost immediately, I heard a light, amused chuckle. She lowered herself gracefully and sat onto the f

I opened my eyes, staring into the distance before shifting my gaze to the slave I had bought at the auction house.Earlier, when I stepped into the car, I was surprised to find the little slave crouched to the side, trembling. That was when I remembered her. I had told her to leave, to return to her pack, making it clear that I had no intention of taking her with me. But instead of leaving, she had fallen to her knees, tears streaming down her face as she pleaded— insisting that she had offended me. The desperation in her voice had genuinely taken me by surprise.“Go home to your family, you’ve been released,” I had told her back then, but her response was,“No, my king. Yet, with each passing second, the sound grew louder, almost deafening, as if it were counting down to something— something unknown, something inevitable."Where am I?" Davina pov. My father always used to say that when you are close to death, your life flashes before your eyes in the form of a dream—like watching a movie. But this one shows everything: your past, your present, and the illusion of the future you long for. The future you would do everything to have. Maybe that explained why I was here—why they were all here. “Haha! You should have seen her face when she thought she could land a strike on me, only to end up flat on the ground.” I turned to my right, watching as my father laughed, clapping his hands in amusement, his eyes glistening with mischief. “Really, Dalton? Do you have to make fun of your daughter after knocking her down?” My mother shook her head in disapproval, shooting him a glare. “Hey, ‘knocking her down’ is a strong phrase. I was merely… training her, dear.” My father smirked before turning his gaze back to me. “Davina needs to learn how to fight and control her powers. She’s twenty-four—she needs to step up her game

Without sparing him another glance, I walked to my seat, reached for the glass of wine, and took a slow sip. Resting my head on my hand, I narrowed my gaze at him.“Do you expect me to believe that you have no idea where you supply the women? Don’t take me for a fool, Valen. Or perhaps… you fear Thorne too much to speak the truth, hm?” I drawled, lazily twirling the wine in my glass, a cold smirk curving my lips.“N-no, Your Majesty. Hades pov. “It is an honor to have an audience with the Majesty.” Valen bowed as he stepped into the private room, his head dipped low in respect. I frowned the moment I saw him, irritation bubbling within me. Why was I angry? Perhaps it was because of this auction house. The auctioning business had existed for generations—packs trading slaves to the highest bidder to strengthen their resources. But not just anyone could own an auction house. There were crucial rules to follow. First, one had to obtain permission from the king. Second, and most importantly, the slaves had to be acquired legally—no kidnappings, no forced captures. Valen had obtained permission for the auction house from my father, the late king, while he was still alive. Since taking the throne, I hadn’t granted anyone new permissions—I had been too preoccupied with searching for Thorne, with no time for matters that weren’t urgent. But now, as I sat here, I realized I may have overlooked something
