OLIVIA
“Come on Via, you should calm down. Leaving the pack isn't the best option.” Lily said calmly, trying to talk me out of packing my things to leave the pack.
“So what am I supposed to do now? Stay back and continue to see Rowan every other day?” I asked in a mean voice, as I continued to pack my stuff, not even throwing a glance at Lily. I picked only the necessary things, I didn't have much stuff anyway.
I honestly would not like to remain here when Luna Claire finds out that I rejected Rowan last night. Although I have no place to go to, I still needed to get as far away from this pack as possible, now that they were still unaware of what had transpired in my room the day before.
The door opened to reveal Lisa walking into the room. My heart did a flip as I got up to my feet, showing respect to her as the Luna of Cold Moon. Bella took a stance as she hovered at the door.
“Look who's trying to run away, the alpha's precious little mistress.” Lisa taunted, her eyes glittered mischievously.
I began to feel a sense of unease, Lisa rarely smiled this sweetly unless she was up to something really evil. What did she plan to do this time? I already felt sick to my stomach as I expected one of her cheap tricks again.
“Lisa, shouldn't you be acquainting yourself with your Luna duties?” Lily sneered.
“Sure. I'm here with respect to that, trust me.” Lisa said with a wide grin plastered on her face. I studied her face in uncertainty. Maybe she found out that I rejected Rowan. So what? Was that not what she wanted?
“And what do you mean by that?” I fired.
Whatever it was she wanted to do, I was sure it was no good so she could as well get done with it as fast as possible.
“Search her room!” She ordered the two warriors with her. “Her bags, her closet, including her. Search everywhere!”
I watched silently as they searched the room.
“We found it, Luna.” Kane, one of the top warriors in Cold Moon, held up a shiny object.
My eyes widened in alarm as I recognized what was in his hands. This was the Luna's golden tiara. It was a representation of the office of authority passed down to every Luna of the Cold Moon pack.
“What… what's going on here?” I stammered. My heart dropped in my belly with realization dawning on me. I tasted the rising bitterness in my mouth as I recalled the feel of someone's presence around my room last night.
This person had taken the opportunity as I showered in the bathroom to plant the heirloom in my room. I either did not perceive the person's scent because he or she masked it or because Rowan’s scent lingered heavily in the air.
Whoever it was, did not want me to see the light of the next day. The person was well aware that stealing a symbol of authority was considered a challenge to the rightful owner. It was a threat to one's position and its punishment was death.
The warriors yanked me out of my moody thoughts, dragging me out of the room.
“To the backyard!” Lisa ordered.
A groan slipped out of my mouth as I landed on the ground with a thud. I crossed my arms over my chest rubbing my hands on the spot where the two warriors had grabbed me. My body was sore from its collision with the earth as they threw me on the hard ground.
Just at that moment, the former Luna appeared with Rowan. Her features tightened in a frown as she dashed towards me menacingly.
Smack! My head whipped to one side as the slap thundered in the air.
“Disgusting hag.” Luna Claire blared.
I slowly lifted my head, my eyes met with Rowan's in a soft plea for him to say something in my defense. He scoffed at me. He was still angry at my rejection, even though he did not seem to look like it.
I am curious to see how you would survive on your own. Rowan said to me via the mindlink.
Rowan's cold gaze at me made my eyes water. Was he really going to watch me die because I refused to be his mistress? I thought bitterly.
Rowan please, you know I do not have a hand in this. Please say something as the Alpha of the pack. I pleaded with him via the link, fearing for my life.
His lips curled upwards in a small smile. He moved closer, and scooted down until his eyes locked on mine.
“I, Rowan Blackthorn, Alpha of the Cold Moon pack hereby accept your rejection. You will be properly punished for whatever crime you have committed. You are free to leave the pack if found not guilty of the crime you are accused of.” He spat, his eyes gleaming with hatred.
A fresh bout of pain seared through my whole body, this time, it was more intense. The bond between Rowan and I had severed completely. He scanned my face, looking for traces of pain on it. I pursed my lips tightly, not giving him the satisfaction he desperately desired.
A dangerous glint flashed in Claire's eyes. “Did she reject you first?” she asked in a mean tone.
“You bitch!” Another slap rang in the air splitting my lower lip. I felt pathetic for myself at the force with which the former Luna hit me.
“You rejected him and still went ahead to steal his Luna's symbol of authority.” I winced as she hit me again. “How despicable can you be?”
A malicious grin played on Lisa's lip as she slipped her arm into Rowan's who continuously shot me a spiteful look. “It’s okay darling. I think your mother would handle her just fine. I really appreciate your efforts in retrieving the heirloom. You deserve a proper rest darling.” She stroked his ego.
Rowan's face brightened up at Lisa's words, she was insinuating that he had worked hard to retrieve his Luna’s golden tiara. With a sneer, his eyes averted my tear filled ones, and softened as soon as it locked on Lisa's.
"Rowan please.." I cried out.
“Rowan!” I called again. Fear gripped me all of a sudden.
“Rowan!” I screamed this time in panic as Lisa took him away. Lisa was leaving me in the hands of her predecessor. Lisa was entitled to punish me herself since she was the rightful owner of the tiara that was found in my possession. She also reserved the right to permit anyone who was once in her position to carry out the punishment which was what she just did. She knew the former Luna would be more brutal in dealing with me.
A cold feeling of dread washed over me, weighing down on me with each breath I took. I suddenly preferred dying in the hands of Lisa to Claire.
Crack! My jaw broke with a sickening sound as Claire lunged her fist at me. I spat out the blood in my mouth.
“You should have gone missing just like your useless mother.” she snarled with an evil gaze and slammed my face on the hard ground.
‘Rowan please save me.’ I begged via the link again. ‘Do not interrupt me again, Olivia.’ his voice came out huskily. Ava whimpered, receding to the back of my mind.
My chest burned with hurt, Rowan was having intimacy with Lisa while I was at the mercy of his mother. He obviously did not care one bit what was going to happen to me. Why then did he want me to be his mistress so badly?
Smack! Another slap jolted me back to my current situation. I cried out when her fingers dug into my scalp pulling on it harshly. I let the tears stream down my cheeks and with a bitter smile forming on my lips, I accepted my fate resignedly. I was sure I would die any moment from now. Maybe I would finally get rest this time.
She raised her hands to hit me again, this time drawing out her sharp claws. Just as I closed my eyes ready to receive the pain that would follow, a loud growl reverberated through the air causing everyone to snap their heads in that direction.
Hi dearies, I would like to read your comments on what you think about this book. Thanks for reading.
CAMERON “GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF MY MATE!” I snarled. A very dangerous aura emanated from my body as anger rolled off my body in waves. I clenched my fists tightly to prevent myself from giving in to my beast's desire to rip the throat of the woman assaulting my mate. I was not a man who would lay a finger on a woman. I ignore the looks of shock and surprise on the faces of the assailants and her accomplices and rushed over to my mate who was lying on the ground. Her body was covered in a mixture of dirt and her own blood. Her beautiful face that haunted me since the previous night was so battered. I had been on my way to an attacked pack when I decided to make a diversion to the Cold Moon pack just to get another glimpse of my mate. Gray had been prancing in my head for hours nonstop. His restlessness was accompanied with demands to see his mate. A mate that we just met the previous day. Resisting him was fruitless so I ordered Landon to take a detour path to the Cold Moon pack.
CAMERON The cry from my mate's hospital room notified us that she was awake. I dashed into the room with the speed of light hurriedly sitting next to her on her bed. A muffled groan escaped her lips again and all I wanted to do was grab her in my arms and comfort her. She looked extremely pale and I could see the pains in her eyes. Right there, I knew I needed to make the perpetrators pay for their sins. “Sorry baby, I'll make them pay for this.” I assured her. I would protect her with everything in me, even to the last drop of my blood, I swore within myself. She flinched as my hand made its way to her hair in an attempt to stroke it. I froze. Just how bad had she suffered in the hands of her own people? I wondered. She fixed her gaze on me with all of her attention. I could see her struggle with grasping who I was to be seated at her bedside. “I am your mate.’ I said firmly. A crease formed on her forehead as she shot me a questioning look. “Your second chance mate.” I offerred,
LISAI watched in disappointment as Olivia was taken away by His Highness. I was so sure that this would be her last day. But then, luck was on her side again, as it usually was. I had planted my golden tiara in her room last night just so that I could get a chance to finish her off. Death was the punishment for whoever that tries to steal another’s symbol of authority thereby challenging the rightful owner. Not that I would kill her myself though, I secretly hoped that Claire would, as she was once a Luna too. She did not hesitate when I mindlinked her to, seeing as the culprit was Olivia, whatever her grievances were towards Olivia was unknown to almost everyone in the pack. The few persons in the know, refused to spill. When Rowan left me just after marking me, to go find Olivia, I realized that I was never going to enjoy my bond with my mate as long as Olivia was in the picture. It was clear that what we had going on did not compare to the mate bond thing. His bond with me regret
LILY I was so elated to hear that Olivia had gotten a second chance mate. I was extremely happy to carry her luggage out of the pack house to meet His Highness. Her second chance mate is attractive as fuck. Rowan doesn't hold a candle to him. I can't even deny that I wasn't drawn to him when I first saw him at Rowan's coronation ceremony with my sister, Lisa. You can't blame me though, the Prince is drop-dead gorgeous. As soon as His Highness was gone with Via, I made my way to my room. The moment I got to the second floor, I met a pissed off Lisa walking to her office. Unknowing to her that I had stopped to watch her, she blurted out with rage, “I hate you Olivia!” “She hates you too!” I retorted, making her turn to face me with a hard glare. “Shouldn’t you be discreet with these little reactions of yours to things like this as the Luna of this pack?” I scolded her. She doesn't utter a word but her glare at me intensifies. If looks could kill, I would be dead by now. I rolled my
OLIVIA One would think with the high pitched scream that left my lips, Cameron would back off. But then, he had gone past being able to reason with. He continued to advance towards me as waves of anger rolled off his body, his veins had popped on his head and he looked very dangerous with his glowy eyes burning with fury. As my heart pounded in my chest with a heavy feeling of dread coursing through me, I took several steps backwards, retreating in fear until my back was pressed against the cold walls. I lowered my eyes in fear with my whole body trembling as his huge frame towered over me in a dangerously close range. “Cameron please.” I whimpered, not recognizing my dread filled voice. His large hand enclosed around my neck, with the force from his grip not too strong but firm enough to keep me on edge, then he raised my chin up to meet his darkened gaze. Before I could say jack, his hard chest pressed against my small figure making tingles crawl down my body. His head crashed do
CAMERON She was the last person I was expecting to see at the moment. Her soft slender hands on my shoulders didn't do a good job of exciting me like it used to. “Come on, Ron. What's with this mood of yours?” She questioned, throwing her arms on me as she let out a loud giggle. Her cheeks flushed with enthusiasm and as usual, she could barely contain her energy in her excitement to see me.I raised an eyebrow, fixing her an expectant stare, seeing as she had ignored my question. “Are you seriously asking me that? Do you forget that I have access to your home?” Her arms leave my neck with her facing me with an incredulous look as she shoots back with a question eliciting a low growl from me. I mentally kicked myself as Tracy's words hit home, reminding me that she had unrestricted access to my home as my girlfriend. Since the previous night I got to meet my mate, my mind had been occupied with thoughts of my sweet mate and never for once did I remember to call Tracy. I missed sever
OLIVIA The cackling giggles from the lounge as I descended the stairs made me roll my eyes in disdain. For an unknown reason, it sounded disturbing to my ears and I could feel Ava getting upset.I had just finished a very delicious meal for dinner right after I freshened up. The cook, a beautiful mid-aged, brown eyed lady served me a medium sized tray filled with roast chicken, creamy mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli alongside a cup of hot chocolate. I quickly trotted down to the last three steps on the stairs, leaning on the wall and bending just a little bit as I observed Cameron and another lady from my vantage point. The blonde haired female whose voice had resounded off the walls of the living room reminded me of Luna Claire and her son, Rowan. She stood very close to Cameron with her arms crossed over each other as she stared at Cameron who seemed to avoid her gaze. After a brief moment of observing them, I took several steps towards them revealing myself, seeing as Camer
OLIVIA I woke up to find the other side of the bed empty. I sat up just at the time Cameron walked out of the closet, his hands worked up the button of the plain white shirt he wore on a neatly pressed pair of brown pants, and he looked ready to go out.My eyes slowly scanned his appearance in fascination, he absolutely looked like a demi-god, his hair was firmly held in style with his muscled arms threatening to rip off his shirt. A deep masculine voice snaps me out of my drooling. “Hey,” He flashed me a smile, his perfectly white dentition sparkled under the soft natural light that drifted through the drawn drapes on the window. My heart fluttered in my chest as his eyes zeroed in on me. “Where to?” I questioned, narrowing my eyes at him. He took a step towards me, another step and several others until he got to the edge of the bed. Then he raised his hand and brushed my chin lightly with his forefinger.“Missing me already?” A smirk made its way onto his lips spreading into a
CAMERON I am seated at the front passenger seat and the two of my men are both seated at the back with Landon in the driver's position maneuvering the car on the dirt track at a very high speed as we rushed to the Cold Moon Pack. With Gray prancing in my head, threatening fire and brimstone on the whole pack, I knew it would be hard for any of us to control the other. The patrol guards at their borders recognize us as Lycans and as usual, they did not stop us to search or do anything, not like they had a choice though. lThe female blonde that so resembled the sick alpha happens to be the first person I meet right at the entrance of the pack house. Her sudden scream as she jolted in fear gave her out immediately. Luckily for her, I would never raise my hand on a woman except in a battle. Her sister-in-law who I know as the current Luna rushed forward, rambling some nonsensical stuff which I supposed was meant to be pleasantries. “Your Majesty we.. we…” She's clearly too scared to
CAMERON Fury. Blinding fury. That's the only emotion I have felt these past hours. I know my mate did not leave me, I would have felt a sense of loss if she did. I had felt that something go wrong though - a painful burning effect had spread through my body while the woman who was her exact carbon copy applied the antidote on my injury. I had thought it was due to the silver in the injury on my arm. How could I have swept that warning aside? My major regret now is not marking her before now. It would have been easier to find her, I would simply mindlink her wherever she is and rescue her. My beast is going crazy at the thought of our mate going missing while she's still unmarked. Coming home to meet one mate's absence is the worst feeling ever. No sign, no hint, nothing whatsoever that has been able to lead me to her for almost 48 hours now. These two nights without her had been my worst nights. The first night had me being full of anger. Last night went with me being angry to bein
OLIVIA “What the hell is going on here?” I am barely able to recognize Rowan's cold voice. He looked visibly angry as he took further steps into the room, filling it with his aura. I think I'm the only one who is majorly affected by his alpha aura. Bella stiffened slightly in the spot where she's standing while Lisa merely shifting in discomfort. “Who untied her!?” Rowan frowned.“Uhm… That's wasn't intentional.” Lisa said nervously, looking frightened. Was she scared of her mate? I had felt it, I felt like something was off about him. Even I, could barely recognize the Rowan before me now. He seemed lost. More like, he had lost his real self. “Get out!” He spat, not looking at the two women. The resounding thud of the door on its frame made my heart skip in fright. I was alone in a room with this new Rowan, a mentally deranged Rowan. His hand brushed his blonde way, messing it in a way that passed the message that he was pissed. I slowly moved back as he advanced towards me,
{Cold Moon Pack}OLIVIA I’m woken up by a sharp, searing pain in my head. The last I could remember is that I was having a run in the woods. I twist my face in pain as I try to remember what happened next but my thoughts are a mess. Did I run too much and pass out? How long have I been lying down here? “Ouch!” I winced in pain, and try to hold my head in place but my arms won't move. I sat up with a groan and just stare around confused. I’m totally confused. I still can’t move my arms, but my fingers were able to feel the cold ground beneath me. Wait a second… my eyes take in my surroundings and widened in alarm when the realization hits me, this place smelt familiar - I was in my former pack. “Oh, Goddess!” I cried as another searing headache starts to spread. Rowan must have brought me back to his pack. “What the hell.” I groan, more out of frustration than pain. Then I remember that he forcefully tried to mark me. “Aarghhh!” I scream, my heart beat accelerating with dread
ROWAN “Go get her! Go quickly, mark her! Her wolf still recognizes you as their mate!” My mother's voice sounded as she roughly pushed me out of the car with which I had driven us to the woods where I spotted Olivia a few days ago. Losing Olivia had hurt my ego at some point. My pride as an alpha couldn't take it that my originally fated one was being taken away from me. I didn't know which hurt more, her rejecting me or her being taken away from me. I had Lisa but my wolf still craved Olivia. She was mine even before we both knew about it so I would not have her being whisked away from me by anyone, not even if he was the prince. For weeks, I searched the neighboring packs and surroundings with no trace of her. I was almost at the verge of giving up on finding her when I sighted her from afar a few days ago as she stepped out from the woods. I sensibly made this woods my second home, having leisure runs in it every now and then. For days she did not show up until yesterday, I was t
CAMERON I allowed her to proceed with applying the contents of the bottle on my injury, its black liquid trailing down my arm, the potency of the lethal substance had weakened considerably and the injury was starting to heal faster - much faster though with my Lycan genes. My eyes continuously strayed from the injury to the dark haired woman applying the antidote. What in the name of doppelganger was happening here? I thought to myself. Landon too had stopped for a moment to take a good look at her. She looked like she was in her mid thirties even though her skin looked beaten up by the harsh weather and perhaps, untold sufferings. The green eyes, the long dark thick hair, their pale and smooth skin- this woman still had the looks even amidst hardship. I had a feeling that she would have a relationship of some sort with my mate. “Shit!” I muttered, guilt washing over me as I realized that I had not really had a heart to heart conversation with her save for very few exchanges. Gr
CAMERON I joined Landon and his group alongside the three alphas that were with me. There were carcasses of rogues scattered around with the smell of rogue blood heavy in the air. Landon was still in his beast form. “Good job.” I spoke gruffly and swept past them with everyone following behind as we continued our mission to track the rogues. We hadn't gone too far when we came across another set of rogues. It looked like they were guarding another set that seemed to be their masters. We handled them like the rogues they were, dirty, smelly and useless. With a sense of urgency, we bursted into a large clearing with a small house situated in the middle and was greeted by an awful sight. Right before the front of the house was a group of female werewolves almost the size of a small pack with numerous chains entwined on their legs and hands that showed that they were been held captive. These she-wolves stared in horror as they watched the show an athletic man who stood before them was
CAMERON I halted on the spot as my gaze landed on the large footprint that was obviously not that of a werewolf. It was quite relieving that we were making progress on tracking the rogues as the rogue attacks were on the increase. With a deep inhale, I sniffed the air in hopes to find more links to the attackers. My nose crinkled in disgust as I not only made out the rotten smell of rogues in the air, but also the empty smell of an ominous being. I was sure it belonged to someone more powerful than regular werewolves even though I am barely able to perceive its very faint aura that lingered somewhere in the air. This wasn't good at all. Looking at it from another angle, these rogues probably had the support of a larger shifter, could be a werebear or even a Lycan. Whoever the bigger presence was, he was very skilled in covering his tracks only that it was almost impossible for a Lycan to leave traces. Could this mean that they wanted to be traced? I pondered on the possibilities.
AVA Olivia was so angry that she couldn't remain in the house with the blonde bitch. I was sure I disliked her with everything in me but my human’s dislike for her greatly exceeded mine. We had just returned home after a good sprint in the woods. It was our regular way of putting away boredom as our mate was always unavailable and in the real sense, it helped us avoid the blonde as much as possible. Just as we thought we had succeeded for the day, my human ended up getting enraged by the blonde’s manipulative words. I figured she was going to return to the woods, so I took control and led us back to the woods. Right after she pulled off her clothes, I shifted, pushing her to the reccess. The very first time we shifted when we located this place, I surprisingly felt unexplainable energy burst through me. I felt much more stronger than the usual beta I was. I also discovered that I could pick up sounds much sharper and clearer than how I used to back then in my former pack. Whether
