Daniel’s POV The air was tense as each party waited for the first person to strike, and it would escalate into a full-fledged conflict. My men and Andrew's men had stopped fighting, and they all had their eyes on us, perplexity on their faces since none of them knew what was going on. My eyes looked around for a means to save Athena and my son; I wasn't going to give up on any of them, nor would I give up my title to her. I've heard stories about her father's tyranny, which caused him to lose his title. He had been unjust to the other packs who were under him, and he thought he could rule as he pleased, but the people had had enough, and my father was brave enough to step forward and take the throne from him. Looking at Andrea and her brother, who appears to be a puppet, shows that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, they are exactly like their father, and I am not about to give up on what my father fought so hard for. "Alpha Daniel, make your choice, there isn't enough t
Andrew’s POV I wanted to see the moon goddess and ask her if what we were going through was fair before returning to continue the war from where we left off, as I look up to see the sky. I am a few months older than Daniel, but my father granted him the title since I was an illegitimate child; my mother and father had a one-night encounter and conceived me as a result, and I was treated unfairly despite being the eldest child, my mother wasn’t treated any better. I spent the twenty-seven years I've been alive despising Daniel because he had everything I desired. When he was shown to the public and openly learned everything about the Pack and had tutors who were happy to teach the alpha's son, I was made to hide in the shadows and everything I learned was a self-concept. I saw my father look at Daniel with love and adoration, but he never looked at me that way; instead, I saw disdain in his eyes, as if I were the one who wanted to be born into this cruel world, so after my fath
Daniel's POV I tried to open my eyes, but I squeezed them shut as soon as a ray of light passed through them. I groaned and adjusted on the hard surface I was laying on before I opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was a tree; I was lying under a tree when my eyes flew around in alert, and I discovered I was resting on the floor in the midst of nowhere; I then observed a small hand on my face, which I instantly held. I looked up to see a boy's face that looked exactly like mine, I smiled and knew he was my son right away, I tried sitting up but ended up groaning unable to move, I noticed a cloth wrapped around my injured stomach and was shocked at who could have attended to me, the last thing I remembered was Athena walking away with our son while I collapsed "Don't move too much, or you'll reopen the injury."When I heard Athena's words, I instantly raised my head to look at her; she was heading towards me, holding some leaves in her palm; our son giggled and stood up, moving a
Daniel’s POVThe stroll through the bushy path was messy, and I wanted to help Athena carry our son, but the look on her face indicated that she was not ready to talk to me, so I took a few steps away from her, walking at a distance, so she wouldn't strike out at me, I could only watch them from afar. I began to feel weak, and my legs got heavier to carry; I knew the herbs had slowed the spreading of the poison throughout my body, but the poison was still spreading, and I was having difficulty walking.I abruptly stopped walking when I couldn't move any longer and my vision became blurry; I wanted to shout out to Athena, but she was too far ahead and didn't care about me, who was far behind her. “A… Ath… Athena!” As I fought to call, I noticed Athena turn her back to gaze at me, her eyes widening as I collapsed on the floor and lost consciousness. ***I opened my eyes and groaned, my head felt heavy, and I grabbed my head hard, I attempted to stand up and noticed I was inside a hut
Daniel’s POV We strolled away from the crowd and came to a halt in an isolated area; no one was around and the only sound that could be heard was the sight of our breathing; I exhaled and looked at her, waiting to see who would break the silence first; I moistened my lips, unsure how to begin my words. "I'm sorry for how I treated you back in the pack, I shouldn't have treated you like an animal and I had no idea we were mated," I said, and she cackled."So you're only apologizing because you discovered we're mates? Was that the only reason you realized everything you did was wrong?"Athena inquired, and I moved closer to her; she raised her hand to stop me, and I stopped, clasping my hands behind my back and sighing; I wasn't good with apologies. "No, it's not just because we're mates, I regret every action I took, and I only realized how wrong I was after you left, I had to start looking for you and I swear Athena, I have spent those few years searching for you and our son," I rep
Daniel’s POV I awoke at the first roaster crow, I came out of the hut where I was staying, the people who had saved us were kind, and it was surprising they were not werewolves like us, they were just ordinary humans who lived in the wilderness, who are kind and don't mind rendering help to people, most of them are good with herbs, and I was quickly recovering. I couldn't wait to return to my people and was sad to leave Athena. I know my people must have wondered what was wrong with me and why I vanished without a trace, and I need to return to them quickly before Andrew or Andrea takes over my position. I've determined that today will be the last day I spend in this place, and I've decided to use this opportunity to bond with my kid; I can't persuade Athena to join me, and forcing my boy away from her will only lead to greater hatred from her. I got out of bed and went outdoors; everything was calm, and I looked up at the dark sky; everywhere would be bright in less than an hour.
Athena’s POV My eyes were as clear as a night owl's eyes. Sleep had eluded me, and I sat on the bed, cuddling my precious son, Evan. Alpha Daniel had decided to return to his people, and I thought it was fine for him to do so because he had mysteriously vanished in the middle of a battle, and I was still perplexed as to why I had saved him when he collapsed before me. Maybe it was the mate bond playing tricks on me, and I had to save him because I couldn't bear the thought of him dying, and I was surprised that I had the strength to haul him along with my son. I was fortunate to have discovered these people who were busy hunting for food; they were gracious enough to take us back with them, and they knew about medication, which restored Alpha Daniel’s health, or he would have died.I don't intend to stick here since I no longer trust anyone; every time I've moved away to a new town, I've been stabbed in the back and things haven't always gone as planned; I had mixed feelings about
Andrea’s POVThe battle wasn't going as planned, and I was surprised to realize that Alpha Daniel and Alpha Andrew had the power to fight back and also fight alongside against us; it all felt like we didn't prepare well enough, and we were going to lose. I refused to back down because I was blinded by my desire to reclaim the title, I wasn't prepared to lose everything I had battled for. I glanced around, but Alpha Daniel was nowhere to be found, and I wondered what he had been up to. I noticed my men were falling, and we had drastically reduced, more than half of the men who came to battle with me were dead, it was so bad because alpha Daniel and Andrew's men joined forces to fight with mine, and they are skilled, they have been to wars for years while my men are just rogues that Lucas has trained. I cocked my head to gaze toward the direction Lucas was groaning, and Alpha Andrew had his claws wrapped around his throat as he struggled to breathe. I snarl and lunge forward, but the
