Daniel’s POV

The stroll through the bushy path was messy, and I wanted to help Athena carry our son, but the look on her face indicated that she was not ready to talk to me, so I took a few steps away from her, walking at a distance, so she wouldn't strike out at me, I could only watch them from afar.

I began to feel weak, and my legs got heavier to carry; I knew the herbs had slowed the spreading of the poison throughout my body, but the poison was still spreading, and I was having difficulty walking.

I abruptly stopped walking when I couldn't move any longer and my vision became blurry; I wanted to shout out to Athena, but she was too far ahead and didn't care about me, who was far behind her.

“A… Ath… Athena!” As I fought to call, I noticed Athena turn her back to gaze at me, her eyes widening as I collapsed on the floor and lost consciousness.

I opened my eyes and groaned, my head felt heavy, and I grabbed my head hard, I attempted to stand up and noticed I was inside a hut

Daniel’s POV We strolled away from the crowd and came to a halt in an isolated area; no one was around and the only sound that could be heard was the sight of our breathing; I exhaled and looked at her, waiting to see who would break the silence first; I moistened my lips, unsure how to begin my words. "I'm sorry for how I treated you back in the pack, I shouldn't have treated you like an animal and I had no idea we were mated," I said, and she cackled."So you're only apologizing because you discovered we're mates? Was that the only reason you realized everything you did was wrong?"Athena inquired, and I moved closer to her; she raised her hand to stop me, and I stopped, clasping my hands behind my back and sighing; I wasn't good with apologies. "No, it's not just because we're mates, I regret every action I took, and I only realized how wrong I was after you left, I had to start looking for you and I swear Athena, I have spent those few years searching for you and our son," I rep

Daniel’s POV I awoke at the first roaster crow, I came out of the hut where I was staying, the people who had saved us were kind, and it was surprising they were not werewolves like us, they were just ordinary humans who lived in the wilderness, who are kind and don't mind rendering help to people, most of them are good with herbs, and I was quickly recovering. I couldn't wait to return to my people and was sad to leave Athena. I know my people must have wondered what was wrong with me and why I vanished without a trace, and I need to return to them quickly before Andrew or Andrea takes over my position. I've determined that today will be the last day I spend in this place, and I've decided to use this opportunity to bond with my kid; I can't persuade Athena to join me, and forcing my boy away from her will only lead to greater hatred from her. I got out of bed and went outdoors; everything was calm, and I looked up at the dark sky; everywhere would be bright in less than an hour.

Athena’s POV My eyes were as clear as a night owl's eyes. Sleep had eluded me, and I sat on the bed, cuddling my precious son, Evan. Alpha Daniel had decided to return to his people, and I thought it was fine for him to do so because he had mysteriously vanished in the middle of a battle, and I was still perplexed as to why I had saved him when he collapsed before me. Maybe it was the mate bond playing tricks on me, and I had to save him because I couldn't bear the thought of him dying, and I was surprised that I had the strength to haul him along with my son. I was fortunate to have discovered these people who were busy hunting for food; they were gracious enough to take us back with them, and they knew about medication, which restored Alpha Daniel’s health, or he would have died.I don't intend to stick here since I no longer trust anyone; every time I've moved away to a new town, I've been stabbed in the back and things haven't always gone as planned; I had mixed feelings about

Andrea’s POVThe battle wasn't going as planned, and I was surprised to realize that Alpha Daniel and Alpha Andrew had the power to fight back and also fight alongside against us; it all felt like we didn't prepare well enough, and we were going to lose. I refused to back down because I was blinded by my desire to reclaim the title, I wasn't prepared to lose everything I had battled for. I glanced around, but Alpha Daniel was nowhere to be found, and I wondered what he had been up to. I noticed my men were falling, and we had drastically reduced, more than half of the men who came to battle with me were dead, it was so bad because alpha Daniel and Andrew's men joined forces to fight with mine, and they are skilled, they have been to wars for years while my men are just rogues that Lucas has trained. I cocked my head to gaze toward the direction Lucas was groaning, and Alpha Andrew had his claws wrapped around his throat as he struggled to breathe. I snarl and lunge forward, but the

Andrea's POV I stepped out of the room I was in and looked at the early morning sun; I was very fortunate that once Lucas was taken to the Pack's clinic, he was instantly treated too and the alpha of this pack was aware of our presence. He had invited us over to meet him, and I lied to him about how we went hunting and were attacked, but I didn't care whether he believed me or not, I just wanted a place to lie down for a while before returning to the pack to strengthen my people and attack again, I am not going to give up on this fight. He was gracious enough to offer us a place to stay until we were ready to depart, and I sighed as the early morning wind engulfed me. I didn't want to go inside since it was cold; I wanted to stay outside and enjoy some nature. I stood in the same spot until the sun came up, then I heard the bustling of the people in the pack and refused to move. I suddenly heard a clearing of my throat and tilted my head to see a guard standing before me. "I am s

Daniel’s POV I left Athena and our son with a sorrowful heart. I had no choice but to return to my people, and if everything is back to normal without the war on the ground, I can go back and try to persuade her to rejoin the pack with me so that I can be closer to my son. My son is going to be the alpha king one day, and I want to have a father-and-son relationship with him. I stepped inside Andrew's pack and saw a lot of commodities destroyed in the pledge of this fight that went on between us.I realized my men were weak and fatigued, and they weren't fighting; I pondered what had occurred, and I noticed Andrea and her brother were nowhere to be seen. My men spotted me and rose up from the floor where they were tired and drained, “Alpha Daniel” one of them said, and the rest stood up, they must have believed I was dead since they were so astonished to see me. "Alpha Daniel! We thought something happened to you, you went missing, and we have no idea what happened," another added

Daniel’s POV The journey back to the pack was neither good nor bad; the thought of the men I had lost in the war clouded my thoughts and my heart constricted, feeling bad for everything that had happened; I thought about Gamma Damon and how I had thought I would return to the park with him, but he died in the soil of alpha Andrew's pack.We immediately neared the big gate of my pack, and I felt nostalgic; it's been months since I last saw my people, and I know they'll be overjoyed to welcome their leader back to the pack. A lot must have changed in the months afterward and I couldn't wait for Beta Carl to fill me in on what had happened over the months; I trusted him to do an excellent job and look after the pack when I wasn't there. When the guards protecting the enormous gate noticed us arriving, they promptly opened the gate for us, bowed their heads to acknowledge us, and I went inside. My heart jumped with delight when I saw my people and their faces lit up with smiles. It's w

Andrea’s POV I glance in the mirror, smacking my lips together, swirling to see the back of my dress, and I'm pleased with how I look. I took a step away from the mirror, I enjoy dressing up for occasions like this and decided to go on the dinner date that Alpha Gideon had invited me on. He sent his invitation yesterday, and I haven't seen him since he told me about the date; I exited my room and made my way to the dining hall, but I came to a halt when I noticed Lucas approaching me, his eyes sweeping across me and his brow wrinkled. "Where are you going dressed up like that?"I rolled my eyes as he inquired. “What you do care, it's none of your business Lucas” I retorted, and he held my hand aggressively, “Let me go!” I screamed but he didn’t listen to me. “Don’t do more than yourself, Andrea, I don’t know what you are trying to do” Lucas said, and I pulled my hand away from him, I walked away from him without sparing him a glance. I walked into the dining hall and saw Alpha G

Athena’s POV It’s been a month since the death of Andrea and Lucas, and it still felt unreal, this past month has been the happiest I have been in my life. I have never felt so at peace, sleeping with no course to worry about. I looked at my wedding dress, and it was breathtaking, I ran my hand through it and it was a masterpiece, with delicate lace and silk, adorned with shimmering beads and sequins. I smiled as I took it from the hanger and wore it. Slowly slipping into the wedding dress, I felt an indescribable sensation. Every delicate stitch seemed to weave love and happiness into the fabric. As I stood before the mirror, I gasped in awe at the vision it reflected. My eyes shimmered with tears of overwhelming joy as I finally realized my dream of being a bride. I stepped out of the room when I was pleased with the way I looked and met beta Carl outside, he had promised to walk me down the aisle and I have never felt so glad. She tried to carry him, but she had no power as she cried profusely. “Lucas! Lucas wake up!” she screamed and the kind part of me felt bad while watching her cry, but I suddenly remembered how she laughed devilishly as they killed Emily, every ounce of pity I felt for her left immediately and I scowled. “Are you ready to give up now or not?” Alpha Daniel asked a land, and Andrea shot him an angry look.“I would rather avenge my brother! Avenge my mother who died pitifully in the wilderness, avenge my father who was killed and reaped his title!” Andrea screamed and she stood up, trying to attack Alpha Daniel. I move closer to her and yank her hair, pulling her down, “don’t you think it’s time for you to give up? It’s time you stop everything you are doing and reflect on yourself?” I said, and she elongated her claws, trying to tear my face like I

Athena’s POV I was about to lunge at Andrea after snarling when I heard a screeching yell that caused me to tilt my head immediately. I discovered it was Donald who produced that sound, and I attempted to control my heavy breathing as I stared at him. Elder Ryker was able to escape Alpha Daniel's strike when I noticed him, and his eyes widened in amazement as he saw his son, his body went pale quickly, and I smirked, it seemed what Donald said was true. He must have assumed his son was dead. "You…you are alive?"Elder Ryker pushed himself to say, and his son frowned at him. “You must have thought I got burnt in that car, I escaped and here I am, it’s nice to see you again Father!” Donald said as I stepped closer to them after he mentioned the crest. “What’s going on here?!” a man who I didn’t recognize asked but looking at his attire he seemed to be the chief commander of their pack. “My father, Elder Ryker is responsible for killing the old alpha, Luna Evelyn’s father, for h

Daniel's POV The night was quiet, and I sighed as I looked up at the sky; I had been outside for a while now, trying to clear my mind of the many things that were racing through it. This week, Beta Carl has been quite active and helpful in attempting to get everything in order. I wandered farther into the garden, admiring the gorgeous flowers and attempting to forget about everything going on around me. I sighed and decided it was time to return inside and meet Athena; I've grown so attached to her that I can only sleep better in her arms. I was headed towards the pack building when I heard a bomb detonate. The ground trembled, and I staggered; I tilted my head to see what was going on; I strained my ear and heard the cry of war approaching. My eyes opened in surprise; I hadn't anticipated being attacked. "There is a war approaching, everyone should get ready for a battle," I yelled to the pack members over the mind link as I dashed toward the pack house. I ran up the stai

Andrea’s POV When I saw the crest in Athena's hand, the blood on my face drained and I turned pale. The same crest that Alpha Gideon and I have worked so hard to obtain is now sitting on Athena's hand. I always assumed the crest was something tangible, not realizing that was not the case. When alpha Daniel and Athena exited the courtroom, I tried to rise but my body felt weak as I reflected on everything I had gone through to reach where I am now. I finally pulled myself up and began walking to my room; I can't let Athena and Alpha Daniel gain control of the army; I've sacrificed so much for this, and I'm not going to let it go easily. I slumped on my bed and I entered my room. * I couldn't sleep all night because I was tossing and turning in my bed, and the only time I tried to sleep, I had a terrifying dream about Athena killing me. Daniel’s POV Fear gripped me right away. I couldn't trust anyone, let alone a stranger when Athena spoke to me over the pack's mind link. As a result, I was instantly bothered. "What's the matter with you? You went quiet?" Alpha Andrew inquired, and I sighed. "Athena just spoke to me through the mind link; she said a man approached her and asked to speak to her and me," I replied, and they both narrowed their eyes. "Who is that man?"Alpha Andrew inquired. "She doesn't know him," I said. “I think it’s best if we go over and meet her immediately, we can’t be too sure of anything, you know” Beta Carl stated "He is right, we should go meet her right away," Alpha Andrew stated as we all stood up. We walked out of the house and encountered Athena, who was standing beside her with a man whose face I had never seen before. I was taken aback when he referenced the war and claimed to be Elder Ryker's son. I moved in closer to him. "Do you know the gravity of punishment you will re

Athena’s POV The car stopped in front of the pack building, and we both got out. We went inside, and I noticed Alpha Andrew and Edna, who seemed anxious when they saw us, and they approached us. "How did it go?"Alpha Andrew inquired hurriedly. “Exactly like I had thought, Andrea and an elder were blatantly refusing what I had said, but the rest wanted to comply” Alpha Daniel answered. "That elder must be gaining something from whatever is going on," Alpha Andrew responded. “Of course, it’s obvious but it’s not a problem to me, I am going to put them in their places like I have always done” Alpha Daniel answered. "I believe you, you should rest because you appear tired and Athena too,” Alpha Andrew said, and I nodded at what he said. “Yes, we will do that” Alpha Daniel replied, and we walked away from them. I went back to my room and sighed lying on the bed, I heard a knock on the door before the door was pushed open, Miriam came in with Evan, and my face broke into a smi

Daniel’s POV “The crest?” Elder Ryker asked and I smirked. He must have thought he was smart, but he wasn’t smart enough. Murmurs erupted in the hall as people were busy saying different things, no one had seen the crest for long, and it would be surprising if they saw it. “As I had said, Evelyn talked to us regarding everything that had happened in the pack, she told us Alpha Gideon wasn’t her real mate, he bewitched her to believe he was, just to get the alpha title when he finally succeeded, he killed her father and poisoned her every day after locking her up and lied to the world she was dead, he poisoned her and tortured her just to have his hands on the crest because that was the only way he would have full control over the pack’s army,” I said and the murmurs increased. My gaze was drawn to Andrea and Lucas, who were shivering. They appeared afraid, and I chuckled; I would give anything to see them look that way every day. "How sure are we that you're telling the truth? Sho

Athena’s POV I sighed as I looked out my window. I wasn't mentally prepared for the journey ahead of us; Alpha Daniel had sent a letter to Andrea, alerting her of our presence in the pack. The door swung open, and I turned to see Alpha Daniel enter the room. When he saw me, his face burst into a smile, and I swallowed when I noticed the black shirt he was wearing; Alpha Daniel looks nice in anything, but he always looks hot in this specific shirt. "Are you trying to seduce me?"I inquired, and he chuckled as he moved closer to me, wrapping his hands around my waist. I exhaled, resting on him. “I don’t mind seducing you over and over again if that makes you give me another child” Alpha Daniel replied and I chuckled. “You talk about babies too much, don’t you think?” I raise my brows at him. “I want a baby from you Athena, I want to see every stage of pregnancy in you” he murmured and slowly kissed my ear, I closed my eyes and wrapped my hand around his neck.
