Daniel’s  POV

I exited my chamber and walked loftily to the garden behind my chambers. As I looked up at the sky, I noticed that the moon was full. Another moon to make me aware of my predicament, the curse placed upon me, and the fact that I would never be matched. I vowed to live my life as I see fit, despite not letting it stop how I felt.

My nose was overwhelmed by the sweet aroma of the garden's flowers, and I sighed as I basked in the crisp air and felt completely at ease. I wrinkled my brows as the floral aroma abruptly changed to one of vanilla and strawberries, wondering what had caused the unexpected shift.

I felt a tingling sensation run through my body. My eyes widened in awareness as I instantly felt a mate bond, I looked at the moon, and quickly turned around to leave the garden when I noticed a servant racing towards me.

I saw the guards running after her and they looked exhausted from trying to catch her, as soon as she got close to me, she fell into the floor immediately, she raised her eyes to see me and I could see her eyes bloodshot red from crying and tears were falling freely from her eyes, I furrowed my brows immediately confused as to what was going on. When I raised my hand, the guards backed up, preventing them from carrying her away.

I immediately recognized her; she is the servant that works in Athena's chambers. “My lord!” she exclaimed, bending her head and kneeling on the floor, her body quivering.

“What brings you to my chamber? What prompted you to race here in such an insolent manner?" I yelled.

“It… It's all about Lady Athena…She, she left this” she said, clutching a piece of paper, she raised the paper for me to view, and I grabbed it from her hand right away, I was going to chastise her if it was something pointless because I could finally sense a mate bond and I had no time to waste but find my mate.

Dear Miriam,

Please stay strong and don't even bother trying to inform anyone about my disappearance because I would be long gone before you find this letter.

Call me cruel and heartless, but I had to take the decision of running away to protect my unborn child even though I had no place to go.

I can't leave with the thought of someone who has always hated me taking my child away from me.

As I said, don't bother looking for me, and If I find out that there is a search party for me, then I will poison myself and die with my child. I can't return to the pack house and I can't risk leaving my child for someone like his majesty.

I love you Miriam and though parting with you was more painful than living with someone who doesn't love me back, my child comes first.

                        Athena

I was shocked as I read the letter; I couldn't believe the paper in my palm; Athena had been my mate all along, and I had no idea?! And when the moon goddess finally chose to break the curse, it was on the night she decided to flee with my unborn child, something I was completely oblivious of.

“How long has she been expecting?" I yelled.

“For…for…a few weeks now” The servant stated, she was unable to form a good phrase.

“And you didn't even bother to tell me about it?”Bending down, I asked, raising her head with my fingers and seeing dread in her eyes as her life flashed before her eyes, I put my hands around her neck and she smiled.

I stood up with my hands around her neck and her legs were in the air while she struggled to breathe, the color in her face drained, and I could see a faint of purple because of lack of oxygen, I pushed her against the wall, and she coughed, spitting blood on the floor before I let her go, her body slumped on the floor, and she went on her knees immediately.

“She wanted to tell you…I assumed she was seeking the perfect opportunity. “I didn't know she was going to flee,” she begged as I walked away from her, leaving her in the garden and returning to my quarters.

The fact that I could detect her fragrance indicates that she hasn't run far enough. I grinned smugly at myself, knowing that I would be able to reclaim both my mate and my unborn child. I had no idea I had my perfect life in front of me until I recklessly threw it away.

“Call the guards!”I yelled, and the guards on standby began to move to gather the men. I noticed my beta approaching me with a puzzled expression on his face.

“What exactly is going on?”Carl, the beta, inquired.

“We need to go out and find Athena, she ran away from the pack with my unborn child and I discovered in the cruelest way she's my mate,” I said, handing over the letter to Carl, who skimmed through it and his eyes widened in amazement as he read each word.

“How sure are you that this is true?”Carl inquired.

“I sensed the mate bond,” I said.

“Has the curse been lifted?” he inquired, perplexed

“Yes,” I said, nodding and licking my lips, “that's why we're leaving the pack this night to look for her; I'm sure she didn't run too far, so we need to catch up with her before it's too late.”

“I will gather the men,” Beta Carl said and bowed his head before walking away.

I came outside and found the men all assembled and standing at attention; I looked at each one of them.

“Lady Athena has escaped from the pack while we were supposed to watch her; I am sending each of you out there to find her and bring her back with no scratches on her body, not even a loss of a strand of hair from her body; you will bring her back safe and sound.” “Did you get that?”I inquired.

“Yes, Alpha!” they exclaimed, and I nodded in agreement. I watch them match out of the pack house going into the woods to find her.

“I will find you, Athena!”

Athena's POV My throat had dried up from sprinting for my life, I had used up all the energy I had left, and my legs had gotten wobbly, and I couldn't move any farther. I sagged on the floor, sat up, leaning my back on the tree behind me, and swallowed my spit in order to moisten my dry throat. I sniff the air and see no evidence of water. I've never felt so depleted and weak, and the fact that I'm pregnant makes it much worse; I choked on my own tears, feeling lost. I'm not sure where I'm going. The thought of Daniel looking for me shook me awake, and I began sprinting again, barely looking back but once more. My legs wobbled when I collided with a tree before going down. I coughed again, this time fiercely, my shoulders trembles as I wiped the edge of my lips. I looked down at my wrists and saw my own blood staring back at me. Tears filled my eyes, and I began crying without realizing it, chasing the birds off the tree where I had collapsed, burying my face in my hands. I

Athena’s POV “We lost them,” Andrew said, and I opened my eyes. I looked around and noticed that we were in front of a large gate, and I gave him a suspicious look. “Welcome to my pack, I need to see the doctor first, and then we can talk,” he said, and I agreed. As we approached the gate, I noticed men standing by and paving paths for us. They quickly opened the gate and we entered the vast park. I looked around and everything looked different from what I was used to. I grinned and turned to face Andrew. “I'll summon assistance for you to settle in, and then we can talk,” Andrew said, and I nodded. I was ready to respond when I noticed someone approaching us. “Alpha!” the strange man said, slightly bending his head, and I was surprised, I wasn't expecting Andrew to be an alpha, I guessed why he could heal so quickly and even with his injuries, he was able to run into the woods with me on his arms “we were about gathering the men to search for you,” the strange man said, and Andre

Daniel’s POV My blood was boiling as the guards sent out to find Athena returned with an empty hand; rage was coursing through my veins, my eyes were bloodshot red, and any slight provocation may result in the killing of any of them. “Don't worry, Daniel; we'll find her.”I scoffed as Beta Carl said this. “I sent you out early to get her back while I could still sense her, but you couldn't, you couldn't catch a pregnant woman after leaving with fifty guards,” I screamed, slamming the desk. I began pacing about, my hand on my jaws, wondering what I could do to get Athena back to the pack I'm not sure where she might have run to or how far she might have gone; what if anything bad happens to her, and she's left alone in the wilderness and dies? My heart started racing just thinking about losing my companion. “I need to find her myself,” I replied, and Carl stopped me in my tracks by standing in front of me. “You can't leave the pack like this, you can't go out like this. Athena’s POV Andrew's eyes swept over my body, and I felt myself shudder. “Where are you originally from?” And why do you have men chasing after you, who are you?” he inquired. Andrew inquired right away, and I considered telling him the truth, but I was afraid that he would take me back to Daniel if he discovered I was his mate, and soon everyone in each pack would know that Daniel was looking for me. I have decided not to go back, and I am not going back on my words. “My name is Athena,” I murmured, biting my lips, my insides churning as I considered the ideal thing to say to make him believe me. “You already told me that,” he responded, practically hissing, and I immediately tucked my hands between my knees. “My family and I are simple farmers; we live near the border of my pack, and those men ambushed us; they killed my family, and I had to flee; they tried to kill me as well,” I explained, and he gave me a doubtful look. “Is that why you have so many men following you? Athena’s POV My eyes suddenly opened, and I blinked to escape the strong light invading my eyes, I groaned and my eyes pelt adjusted to the light, and I opened my eyes up. “You are awake,” a foreign voice said, and I quickly opened my eyes. I wasn't in a room I was familiar with, so I looked about and discovered I was inside the clinic. I suddenly remembered that I had lost consciousness under the waterfall and gasped; I instantly clutched my stomach, hoping that nothing had happened to my child; I would never forgive myself if anything had happened to my child. “Your baby is fine, the fetus is growing normally,” the odd person stated, and I looked at her with suspicion. “I am the pack doctor; I looked after you when Alpha Andrew brought you to the Pack clinic,” she explained, and I nodded. “You said my baby is fine?”I questioned, choking on my tears; for a brief moment, I was terrified that I would lose my source of happiness forever; my hands shook and I sighed. “Yes, very heal

Athena’s POVDays have gone since I began living in the pack, and each day has passed with monotony; I sighed and stood up from my bed when I heard a knock on the door; I walked to the door, and there stood Maya in the doorway. “Maya,” I said with a smile, and she laughed. “Good morning, and how was your night?” She requested, and I moved out of the way, so she could enter the room. “It was fantastic; how was yours?” I inquired, and she removed the bedsheet from the mattress, folding it in the basket she had brought with her, and chose to spread a new one. “It was fine as usual,” she said, spreading a new bedsheet. “You know I can do these little things on my own,” I remarked, and Maya laughed.“It is my responsibility to look after your affairs,” Maya responded, and I sighed.“I am tired and bored all the time. I need to do something,” I replied, and Maya grumbled. “You should meet with Alpha Andrew; he'll definitely figure out something you can do,” Maya said, and I nodded.“T

Daniel’s POVMy hands shook with rage as beta Carl approached me, he stopped midway when he sensed the hatred simmering through me and at any time, I could lose it and shift into my wolf, slaying several of them out of anger. “Alpha Daniel” Beta Carl called, gently bowing his head to indicate respect, and I scoffed and turned away from him. The patience in me is dwindling with each passing day, and I am so disappointed in them for not doing what I want the most. “And you returned empty-handed once more! Is she really that difficult to find? A helpless pregnant woman!”I yelled at him, hitting my hand on my table, and the sound echoed across the room. I could have gone out the last time to look for her, but the Pack's elders stopped me.“We traced the blood we found the other day, alpha, and it led to the middle of nowhere in the forest; I'm not sure if she's still alive; she could have been killed in the woods,” Beta Carl replied, and I snarled, advancing quickly, wrapping my hands t

Athena’s POV The pups' laughter filled the air, and I smiled and looked over at them, dreaming about holding my baby and watching him grow so that he could laugh like this with me. I've had numerous dreams about my kid being faceless, and I can't wait to hold him in my arms and see his face. I was collecting some herbs from the garden when I heard footsteps approaching and turned to see Alice, who had refused to let me call her doctor. Alice had grown to be a friend I could trust in the pack. “You shouldn't bend too much,” she said in a motherly tone, and I laughed. “Are you scared for the pup?” I inquired, chuckling.“I am a doctor, remember, when people see love when they look into each other's eyes, I see a cataract,” she remarked, and I burst out laughing. “Thank the goddess, I'm not a doctor and can be swayed by such things.” I chuckled and took up the bowl in which I was collecting the herbs. “How has your study gone so far?” Alice inquired, and I sighed.“I'm fine, I'm tr

Athena’s POV It’s been a month since the death of Andrea and Lucas, and it still felt unreal, this past month has been the happiest I have been in my life. I have never felt so at peace, sleeping with no course to worry about. I looked at my wedding dress, and it was breathtaking, I ran my hand through it and it was a masterpiece, with delicate lace and silk, adorned with shimmering beads and sequins. I smiled as I took it from the hanger and wore it. Slowly slipping into the wedding dress, I felt an indescribable sensation. Every delicate stitch seemed to weave love and happiness into the fabric. As I stood before the mirror, I gasped in awe at the vision it reflected. My eyes shimmered with tears of overwhelming joy as I finally realized my dream of being a bride. I stepped out of the room when I was pleased with the way I looked and met beta Carl outside, he had promised to walk me down the aisle and I have never felt so glad. Beta Carl stretched his hand and I slowly placed m

Athena’s POVI watched as Lucas gulped for air while struggling to stay alive, he died and Andrea screamed and ran over to his dead body. She tried to carry him, but she had no power as she cried profusely. “Lucas! Lucas wake up!” she screamed and the kind part of me felt bad while watching her cry, but I suddenly remembered how she laughed devilishly as they killed Emily, every ounce of pity I felt for her left immediately and I scowled. “Are you ready to give up now or not?” Alpha Daniel asked a land, and Andrea shot him an angry look.“I would rather avenge my brother! Avenge my mother who died pitifully in the wilderness, avenge my father who was killed and reaped his title!” Andrea screamed and she stood up, trying to attack Alpha Daniel. I move closer to her and yank her hair, pulling her down, “don’t you think it’s time for you to give up? It’s time you stop everything you are doing and reflect on yourself?” I said, and she elongated her claws, trying to tear my face like I

Athena’s POV I was about to lunge at Andrea after snarling when I heard a screeching yell that caused me to tilt my head immediately. I discovered it was Donald who produced that sound, and I attempted to control my heavy breathing as I stared at him. Elder Ryker was able to escape Alpha Daniel's strike when I noticed him, and his eyes widened in amazement as he saw his son, his body went pale quickly, and I smirked, it seemed what Donald said was true. He must have assumed his son was dead. "You…you are alive?"Elder Ryker pushed himself to say, and his son frowned at him. “You must have thought I got burnt in that car, I escaped and here I am, it’s nice to see you again Father!” Donald said as I stepped closer to them after he mentioned the crest. “What’s going on here?!” a man who I didn’t recognize asked but looking at his attire he seemed to be the chief commander of their pack. “My father, Elder Ryker is responsible for killing the old alpha, Luna Evelyn’s father, for h

Daniel's POV The night was quiet, and I sighed as I looked up at the sky; I had been outside for a while now, trying to clear my mind of the many things that were racing through it. This week, Beta Carl has been quite active and helpful in attempting to get everything in order. I wandered farther into the garden, admiring the gorgeous flowers and attempting to forget about everything going on around me. I sighed and decided it was time to return inside and meet Athena; I've grown so attached to her that I can only sleep better in her arms. I was headed towards the pack building when I heard a bomb detonate. The ground trembled, and I staggered; I tilted my head to see what was going on; I strained my ear and heard the cry of war approaching. My eyes opened in surprise; I hadn't anticipated being attacked. "There is a war approaching, everyone should get ready for a battle," I yelled to the pack members over the mind link as I dashed toward the pack house. I ran up the stai

Andrea’s POV When I saw the crest in Athena's hand, the blood on my face drained and I turned pale. The same crest that Alpha Gideon and I have worked so hard to obtain is now sitting on Athena's hand. I always assumed the crest was something tangible, not realizing that was not the case. When alpha Daniel and Athena exited the courtroom, I tried to rise but my body felt weak as I reflected on everything I had gone through to reach where I am now. I finally pulled myself up and began walking to my room; I can't let Athena and Alpha Daniel gain control of the army; I've sacrificed so much for this, and I'm not going to let it go easily. I slumped on my bed and I entered my room. * I couldn't sleep all night because I was tossing and turning in my bed, and the only time I tried to sleep, I had a terrifying dream about Athena killing me. At the first roasting crow, I got out of bed and decided to take a bath. I finished bathing and dressed in all black because I was still grie

Daniel’s POV Fear gripped me right away. I couldn't trust anyone, let alone a stranger when Athena spoke to me over the pack's mind link. As a result, I was instantly bothered. "What's the matter with you? You went quiet?" Alpha Andrew inquired, and I sighed. "Athena just spoke to me through the mind link; she said a man approached her and asked to speak to her and me," I replied, and they both narrowed their eyes. "Who is that man?"Alpha Andrew inquired. "She doesn't know him," I said. “I think it’s best if we go over and meet her immediately, we can’t be too sure of anything, you know” Beta Carl stated "He is right, we should go meet her right away," Alpha Andrew stated as we all stood up. We walked out of the house and encountered Athena, who was standing beside her with a man whose face I had never seen before. I was taken aback when he referenced the war and claimed to be Elder Ryker's son. I moved in closer to him. "Do you know the gravity of punishment you will re

Athena’s POV The car stopped in front of the pack building, and we both got out. We went inside, and I noticed Alpha Andrew and Edna, who seemed anxious when they saw us, and they approached us. "How did it go?"Alpha Andrew inquired hurriedly. “Exactly like I had thought, Andrea and an elder were blatantly refusing what I had said, but the rest wanted to comply” Alpha Daniel answered. "That elder must be gaining something from whatever is going on," Alpha Andrew responded. “Of course, it’s obvious but it’s not a problem to me, I am going to put them in their places like I have always done” Alpha Daniel answered. "I believe you, you should rest because you appear tired and Athena too,” Alpha Andrew said, and I nodded at what he said. “Yes, we will do that” Alpha Daniel replied, and we walked away from them. Daniel’s POV “The crest?” Elder Ryker asked and I smirked. He must have thought he was smart, but he wasn’t smart enough. Murmurs erupted in the hall as people were busy saying different things, no one had seen the crest for long, and it would be surprising if they saw it. “As I had said, Evelyn talked to us regarding everything that had happened in the pack, she told us Alpha Gideon wasn’t her real mate, he bewitched her to believe he was, just to get the alpha title when he finally succeeded, he killed her father and poisoned her every day after locking her up and lied to the world she was dead, he poisoned her and tortured her just to have his hands on the crest because that was the only way he would have full control over the pack’s army,” I said and the murmurs increased. My gaze was drawn to Andrea and Lucas, who were shivering. They appeared afraid, and I chuckled; I would give anything to see them look that way every day. "How sure are we that you're telling the truth? Sho

Athena’s POV I sighed as I looked out my window. I wasn't mentally prepared for the journey ahead of us; Alpha Daniel had sent a letter to Andrea, alerting her of our presence in the pack. The door swung open, and I turned to see Alpha Daniel enter the room. When he saw me, his face burst into a smile, and I swallowed when I noticed the black shirt he was wearing; Alpha Daniel looks nice in anything, but he always looks hot in this specific shirt. "Are you trying to seduce me?"I inquired, and he chuckled as he moved closer to me, wrapping his hands around my waist. I exhaled, resting on him. “I don’t mind seducing you over and over again if that makes you give me another child” Alpha Daniel replied and I chuckled. “You talk about babies too much, don’t you think?” I raise my brows at him. “I want a baby from you Athena, I want to see every stage of pregnancy in you” he murmured and slowly kissed my ear, I closed my eyes and wrapped my hand around his neck.
