WARD "What do you mean she isn't in the bathroom?" I scream at my mother. "Neither her or Sylvia is in there," my mother says with a worried look on her face. "Do you think something bad happened to them?" "No, Mom." I yell at her sarcastically. "I am worried that they ran off together as lovers." "Now isn't the time for jokes," my father groans. "Who is going to explain this to the King and Queen?" I turn and look at my father as I throw money down on the table. "I guess we all are." My mother and father share a look with one another and they both swallow hard. None of us want to explain to the King where his daughter went or rather the fact that we don't have any idea where she is. As I climb into my car I open the mind link with the King. 'Your Highness.' I don't miss how my voice is shaking. 'What happened?' Is how the King responds through the link. I take a deep breath and try to calm my nerves. 'Keena is missing.' 'What do you mean she is missin
KEENA The world stops speeding by me and I come to an abrupt halt. My head is spinning like I have drunk too much alcohol and it feels like I am going to puke. "If you are going to vomit please do so over there," the blonde woman says with her nose wrinkled in disgust. Swallowing the vomit that rises in my throat, I don't want to appear weak. I let my eyes look around where we have landed. We are in the middle of a dark forest. There is nothing but trees surrounding us. I try to look up into the sky but the tree canopy is too thick. Closing my eyes I try to imagine myself back in the restaurant bathroom. Certainly I should be able to teleport to a location that I have been before, but my body doesn't move. I squeeze my eyes shut harder and try to imagine myself back at the royal mansion but once again my body doesn't move. I open my eyes to see the blonde haired woman staring in my direction with a smirk on her face. Anger rises through my chest and I can feel my po
KEENA My mind goes blank and I am pushed into darkness. I fear that I will be pushed back into the void again, but as I peer through the darkness I can't feel the slimy tendrils of doubt and misfortune grabbing at my arms and legs. There is a tiny light up ahead and I know that must be where I am supposed to go. Letting out a frustrated sigh, I begin to walk towards the light. I don't want to have to deal with these games that the witches keep playing. As I approach the light I see a table sitting in the middle of nothing with a teapot and two teacups set up neatly. There is a blonde woman with her back turned to me and I know immediately that she is Lilith. "Come, sit," Lilith says as she pours a cup of tea into a teacup and sets it down across from her. Slowly I step toward the table and I look at the set up curiously. "How did you do all this from within the void?" I ask. "Being me has its perks," she laughs as she pours herself tea. "So what do you want to kn
KEENA My eyes fly open and I awaken to find myself alone in a room, lying on a comfortable bed. Sitting up in my bed I look at my surroundings. The room doesn't appear to be a prison of some sort. It is nicer than the Omega rooms in the royal mansion. From the tiny but comfortable bed I am sitting on I can see a dresser and a small bedside table. On the opposite side of the room there is a small chair in the corner of the room and I am not at all surprised to see that it is full. Sylvia has made herself comfortable in the chair. She is sitting in the chair sideways with her legs hanging over the arms. She is swinging her legs staring up at the ceiling. "It took you long enough to wake up," she says as she continues to stare at the ceiling. "How long was I out?" I ask her. "Two days," she says and she turns her head in my direction. I have to admit that she is beautiful. I can see why Ward's parents chose her as a mate for him. Her beautiful blonde hair flows ef
WARDNone of us have left the King's office since Keena went missing. It has been two days and I am starting to feel crazy. No one explains to you how it feels to be away from your mate for an extended amount of time, especially when you don't know where your mate is. My parents continue to claim that they didn't know that Sylvia is a witch but I don't believe them. There is something that is off about their story. Sylvia just randomly shows up at their dig site and they just accepted her right away. Did they really want a mate for me so badly that they were willing to accept the first archeological nerd that they came across? Finally, King Erebus allows them to leave. "I think we are done with you two for now but you are not allowed to leave Lycan City until my daughter returns." "And if your daughter does not return?" My father asks hesitantly. "Then you and your wife will be charged with treason," the King says matter-of-factly. "Understood." My father gives my moth
WARDI pull into the driveway of my parents house. Turning off the engine to my car I stare up at the house that I grew up in. Or rather the house that I was supposed to have grown up in. There are no childhood memories in this house. Just memories of being carted around the world. Sitting at dig sites while my parents looked for lycan and werewolf artifacts. I remember being about ten years old and we were in Egypt, I think. I remember looking at the beautiful murals that were on the inside of one of the lycan pyramids. I looked up at the mural of warriors fighting and protecting the pharaoh. I knew at that moment that is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I wanted to be a protector and that is exactly what I have become. Once I turned eighteen I sat my parents down and told them that I was joining the Royal Guard. The conversation did not go as well as I thought it would. I thought after decades of studying lycan warriors and werewolf warriors my parents wou
WARD"Sylvia?" I ask in confusion and Sylvia's eyes widen in shock as she looks at me. It is clear that neither one of us were expecting the other one to be at my parents house. We were expecting Sylvia to return but I did not think that she would be so bold to show up in the middle of Lycan City. As I look at the woman that is standing in front of me it makes me more confused than I was before. Sylvia is standing in front of me in tattered clothes. There are scrapes and burns all over her body.My mother comes rushing to my side and gasps out loudly when she sees Sylvia. "My dear child. What happened to you?" Grabbing Sylvia by the arm my mother drags her into our home. But I am not fooled by the act that Sylvia is putting on. "No," I growl. "She must go directly to the King and the Queen." Sylvia's eyes become wide with fear. "Please," she begs of me. "I didn't know what they had planned. I would have never taken her if I knew. I escaped to help you." "For God
KEENA Sylvia left my room what feels like hours ago or maybe it has only been a few minutes. There is no window in my room. I do not know if it is day or night. All I know is that I need to find a way to get home to Ward. My heart aches without him by my side. I walk towards the only door in my room and quietly test the handle. It is locked. Just as I am about to turn my back on the door, there is a sharp knock on the door. It causes me to jump where I stand. I move halfway across the room before I call out for them to enter. The door to my room swings open and a small witch in blue robes walks in with a robe draped over her arms and a black gown in the other. She bows slightly to me before she walks in. "Princess," her voice is small and meek. "The High Priestess thought that you like to use the facilities before your meeting." "Where is Sylvia," I ask curiously. The little witch screws up her face at the mention of Sylvia. "She is indisposed. If you will
