I stared at him, unable to wrap my head around it, someone was playing a sick game and it wasn't funny.

“You’re lying,” I accused, the words slipping out before I could stop them. “You have to be.”

The King’s eyes narrowed, his face scrunching up in annoyance. “Kayla, I have no reason to lie to you. Why will I send a teddy bear?

The man beside him laughed abruptly but then pretended he was coughing, failing miserably to hide his amusement.

“Maybe you're the one lying” The King returned, making me blink back in astonishment.

“Yes, I can barely walk around these walls, yet somehow, I found the time and money to buy a giant teddy bear and have your staff prepare a dinner so I can accuse you because I have nothing else to do” I uttered sarcastically my hands gesticulating wildly before dropping by my sides.
