The Lycan king’s POV

Last time I had felt this rush of adrenaline was during the war.

I didn't normally drive but today, with everything clawing at my insides, I couldn’t trust anyone else to get me there fast enough.

I grabbed a random key fob, taking the stairs two at a time till I made it out to the twelve car parking garage. I didn't choose a car, I just pressed the key fob, the black BMW beeped and I got in. With the keys, I brought the engine to life.

My hands tightened around the steering wheel, my knuckles white as I sped through the streets. I was driving past the speed limit and thankfully traffic wasn't heavy.

I didn’t bother to park properly when I got to the parking lot of the hospital, barely registering the screech of tires as I came to a stop. I was out of the car before the engine had fully died, my heart pounding, each beat echoing with a single word: Kayla.

The hospital smelled like antiseptic and anxiety. I ran down the corridor. My breath was ragged.
