Kayla's POV

I didn't even have a chance to object as the King led me to a car, then he took the seat beside me and I shifted uncomfortably throughout the ride.

When the car finally pulled up to the mansion, my breath caught in my throat. It was enormous— no, more than that. It was like a palace, with towering walls and grand arches that loomed over me, making me feel even smaller than I already did.

The King stepped out of the car first, and I followed, my legs feeling weak beneath me. I could hardly believe this was where he lived. I had heard stories, of course, but nothing could have prepared me for seeing it in person.

He didn’t say a word as he led me up the grand steps to the entrance. The doors were already open, and we walked through them into a vast foyer that was even more breathtaking.
