Her Sweet Scent

Kelvin’s POV

I woke up with blood bathed all over my body. The smell of burning wood assaulted my senses, making me open my eyes in shock.

“What the hell happened?” My voice boomed as I looked at my bloodied body. Confusion washed over me. “The fuck is happening?”

The heat of the fire almost devoured me, making me wince in pain. As I scanned the place, a realization hit me - I was in a forest, the fire was huge, eating away the small house.

I squinted at the bodies that were lying on the ground, there were too many of them, and the reek of blood was all over the place. 

My heart pounded hard inside my chest as fear started to devour me. 

The memories from last night was blurry, and I couldn’t find the reason why I was in this place, with the fire that burning every house of the village and with those corpses lying on the ground. 

“Fuck!” I cursed, my head fucking hurt. 

All I could remember was that I was in the dungeon last night because it was the time of the month.

I closed my eyes and scanned my mind for any remnant memories I had last night. 

It was always like this when Lycaruz wanted to hunt. I would bind myself in the dungeons, making sure that it would be impossible to escape and wait for the night to pass. 

But last night was different. Something unusual happened. 

My eyes widened as memories came to crash like an avalanche inside my mind. 

There was a human girl in the dungeon, a beautiful girl. And Lycaruz met her. She saw me in my beast form. 

But I wasn’t sure if she knew that I am the Alpha King. 

But it doesn’t matter to me if she recognizes me or not, I need to eliminate her. 

“Oh, shit! This is trouble.” 

All my life, I have been keeping this secret. No one knows about my curse except my mother, the former Luna of Debross, and my father, the Alpha King. 

Now that they were gone, nothing else knew about my curse except me and Lycaruz, the cursed beast inside me. 

I growled as I scanned the whole chaotic scene. The scene was horrible. Grief started to grip my heart. 

“Did I do all of these?” I felt my whole body lost all its strength. Just thinking of all the innocent lives that were wasted because of my recklessness made my heart bleed. “No.” Regret ate me. 

“Find the girl, Kelvin.” 

The inner voice commanded. It was the beast, the ancient Lycan who was residing inside me. 

“Yes, I am going to find that girl and kill her with both my hands. She knows my secret and no soul here in Dendross will get to live after learning everything about me.” I gritted my teeth in anger. 

How dare that girl barge into my sacred sanctuary. That place was the sole witness of how I managed to control my curse for years. No one ever helped me except myself. 

Lycaruz was a vengeful soul full of hate and anger, I cannot afford to let him loose every time he wants to resurface. Between the two of us, he’s the unhinged one, a cruel and merciless beast who would kill anyone he sees. 

“No! How dare you, lowly beast! You will not kill the girl. You will bring him to me and I will mark her as my mate. Didn’t you even recognize her when you first saw her?” A growling and angry voice shouted at me inside my head. 

Yes, I knew from the moment I saw her that she was our mate. But I cannot let that rule over me. I am an Alpha King, I rule the entire Debross. I can’t accept that a lowly human, with no powers at all, to become my mate and future Luna. There’s no way it’s going to happen. 

The Luna that I needed was a powerful werewolf and she should be from the line of strong and wealthy werewolf clan, not a weak and useless human. 

“She’s human, Lycaruz. I don’t need a weak mate and luna.” I answered firmly. 

“Bastard! It is not for you to decide, I decide who’s going to be the Luna and the mate because I am the one who is giving you the powers that you needed!” Lycaruz retaliated angrily, his distaste on my decision was visible in his tone. 

Lycaruz is my wolf spirit because I was born with no wolf. As the heir to the throne of Denbross and the son of a p[powerful Alpha, it’s an abomination and shame on the part of my family. So, my mother did the unthinkable. 

I gritted my teeth and balled my fist. As much as I am thankful that Lycaruz was inside me because he’s making me powerful and strong, I hate the fact that he controls me in my decisions. 

“She knew my secret! I am the Alpha King of Denbross, if my people know that I am cursed since birth, me and my family will be subject to mockery! I can not let that happen!

A strong and hot energy ran through me, an indication that Lycaruz wanted out, but I didn’t let him. He has no power over me when the moon is hidden. 

“You can’t control me! I will do whatever I can just so I can keep my kingdom safe.” 

And with that, I transformed into my wolf formed. 

A growl escaped my mouth as furs erupted in my entire body, my bones cracking, my teeth elongated and my claws protracted. 

A howl echoed in the entire place. I left the place as fast as I could and returned to the palace. 

I graced the grounds of the castle’s entrance naked and one of the guards gave me a red coat. 

“Welcome back, Alpha Kelvin.” The guards of the entrance bowed their heads as I walked past them. I did not say anything and just went back to my quarters.

I am not in the mood to talk to anyone, especially with what happened last night. My mind was occupied with the thoughts of that human. 

“I need to find her as soon as possible.” 

I was halfway to my quarters when a familiar scent assaulted my senses. 

A scent that I can never forget since I smelled it last night. I am sure it's the same scent the human girl has, sweet, sand picy and it’s making my nerves tingle in excitement! 

I know in that instant that the girl is inside my castle. 

“What the fuck is she doing here in my territory?” I grimaced thinking that she followed me here. It’s more than a coincidence now. 

An angry growl erupted in my mouth. I turned around and followed the scent. 

I halted in my tracks when I saw that I was led to the servant’s quarter. The scent was no more dense. 

As I opened the door, I was greeted by her strong scent, and all I wanted to do was bury my nose in her neck and consume all of her.
