AKIRA’s POV.

I opened my eyes to find myself in the dark, dungeon. The offensive stench of waste and decay filled my nostrils. I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain went through my head, making me wince and close my eyes:

"Akira, you're a disgrace!" Kaida's voice echoed in my head, followed by the sound of the dungeon door slamming shut.

I slowly got up, my body aching from the emotional adulation I suffered before I was thrown here. I stumbled towards the door, pounding the door with my fist.

"Kaida, please! Let me out! I'll try again, I promise!"

The only response was silence. No one was there to listen to me.

I slumped against the door, tears rushing down my face. Why was Kaida doing this to me? I had always been a loyal member of the pack, dedicated to healing and helping others. Everyone in the pack had always come to me, why this harsh treatment.

The sound of footsteps outside my cell made me look up. The door was flung open, and a figure entered.

"Akira, you're wanted in the infirmary," one of the pack's guards said, his eyes filled with hate as he glared at me.

I stumbled out of the cell, my legs shaking. What did they want me to do now? Try to heal Lyra again, only to fail and face more punishment.

As I entered the infirmary, I saw Lyra's frail form on the bed, her eyes deep in their sockets and her skin pale. Kaida stood beside her, a frown on her face.

"Akira, you're supposed to be our pack's healer," Kaida sneered. "But you can't even save one of our own. What good are you? Useless omega.”

I felt a surge of anger and frustration, but I bit back my rage. I knew it wouldn't do any good to argue with Kaida in her current mood.

"I'll try again," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I won't give up on Lyra."

Kaida scoffed. "You'd better not. If she dies, so do you."

I felt a chill run down my spine at her words, but I refused to back down. I approached Lyra's bedside, taking her hand in mine. I closed my eyes, focusing on my healing energy. But as I reached out to Lyra, I felt a strange resistance from her side. It was as if her body was rejecting my attempts to heal her.

I opened my eyes to find Kaida glaring at me. "What's wrong, Akira? Can't even manage a simple healing?"

I gritted my teeth, trying to think of a solution. But before I could try again, Lyra's body began to convulse. Her eyes rolled back in her head, and saliva began to come out of her mouth.

"Lyra, no!" I cried, holding her down as she thrashed around on the bed.

Kaida walked over, her face contorted with rage. "You're making her worse, Akira! Get out! Get out of my sight!"

The guards dragged me away, throwing me back into the dungeon. I landed hard on the floor, I was left all alone again.

As I lay there, I realized that Kaida was right. I was a failure as a healer. And if I didn't find a way to save Lyra, I would pay the ultimate price. The previous alpha had tried her best to make sure I learned the ways of healing, something that would help me add value to the pack. But Lyra’s cause was difficult.

But I refused to give up. I thought back to all my training, and all my knowledge of healing. There had to be a way to save Lyra. And I was determined to find it.

With determination, I began to think, to reason, to search for a solution. And as I did, a bit of hope began to come to life within me.

Maybe, just maybe, I could still save Lyra. And myself.

As I lay on the cold floor, I began to think back to my training. I remembered a lesson from my mentor, a wise old healer named Elara. She had taught me about the importance of balance in healing, and how the body and the mind need to be one for the healing to be a success.

I realized that I had been so focused on Lyra's physical wounds that I had neglected her spiritual and emotional health. I remembered a technique Elara had taught me, a way of using my energy to balance the patient's.

I closed my eyes and tried to use an ancient way of healing. l tried very hard to concentrate and eventually, I was able to get into her mind.

But just as I thought I had succeeded, a loud growl echoed through the dungeon. The sound sent chills down my spine. I opened my eyes to see Kaida standing in the doorway, her eyes blazing with rage.

"Akira, you're a monster!" she snarled. "You're using dark magic to heal Lyra!"

I protested, but Kaida wouldn't listen. She summoned the guards, and they dragged me away, deeper into the dungeon.

As they threw me into a dark cell, I realized that I was in grave danger. Kaida had condemned me as a witch, and I knew that the punishment for such a crime was death, either by hanging or being burnt alive.

But I refused to give up. I knew that I had to find a way to clear my name, to prove that my healing was genuine.

And so, I waited in the darkness, my mind racing with thoughts of escape and how to justify my actions. But as I waited, I heard a faint whisper in my ear.

"Akira, help me. Please." The voice said, echoing in my head.

It was Lyra's voice, weak. I smiled in the darkness, hope, there was still hope.

I would find a way to save Lyra, and myself. No matter what it took.

But just as I thought I had hope left, the cell door creaked open. A figure stood in the doorway, its eyes glowing with a red light.

"Akira…” the voice called out.

“Who are you!”

KAEL’s POV. I sat on my throne, my eyes scanning the faces of the wolves seater in front of me. My pack gathered before me, their faces filled with fear and respect. I leaned forward, my voice low and menacing. "Any weakness will be dealt with swiftly. I will not tolerate disobedience." My gaze was on a young wolf, cowering in the corner. "You, Ryker, have failed me for the last time. You're banished from the pack." I watched as Ryker brought his hands together, as a sign of him begging me, but I showed no mercy. I signaled to my guards, who dragged him away. After each wolf went to his den, my beta, Zephyr, approached me. "Kael, may I have a word?" I nodded, and Zephyr came near. "What is it, Zeph?" "Your brother, Kieran... he's growing stronger. His pack is expanding, and his influence is spreading." My eyes narrowed. "What are you saying, Zeph?" Zephyr's voice was low and measured. "I'm saying that Kieran is a threat to your rule, to our pack's safety. He's ruthless, Kael,

I knew I had failed, and I couldn't blame her for blaming me."Akira, you failed," Kaida spat, her voice filled with venom . "Lyra is dead, and it's all your fault."I felt a lump form in my throat as her words sunk in me. I knew I had done everything I could, but it hadn't been enough. I had tried to heal Lyra, to save her, but my efforts had been in vain."I'm sorry, Kaida," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I didn't mean for this to happen."Kaida's expression turned even angrier. "Sorry? Sorry isn't enough, Akira. You're a disgrace to our pack. You're supposed to be our healer, our savior. But instead, you're a failure. You killed her!” I felt tears gather at the corners of my eyes as Kaida's verbal thrashing continued. I knew I didn't deserve this, but I also knew that Kaida was sad and upset. “You… you killed my sister with your black magic! I saw you… you

I asked, my voice firm."Aria has requested to leave the pack," he said, his voice low.My eyes narrowed. "What? Why would she want to leave?"Zephyr shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "She's unhappy with your rule, Kael. She thinks you're too harsh and demanding."My face became dark with rage. How dare she question my leadership? I am the alpha, and my decisions are final."I'm the alpha, it's my job to make tough decisions," I growled. "I can't have weak members in my pack."Zephyr sighed. "I understand, Kael, but Aria is a valuable member. We need her skills to survive. She is a fertile one.”I waved my hand. "I'll find a new breeder, one who is loyal and obedient. Aria is no longer welcome in this pack."Zephyr nodded, but I could see the disapproval in his eyes. I didn't care. I am the alpha, and my word is law. Besid

Days have passed since I was thrown in here, and I've lost count of how long I've been in this dark hole. The only light comes from a small torch when the guards do their daily round of patrol down here in this hell hole. I feel helpless and trapped down here, my mind racing with thoughts of escape. But every time I approach the door of my dungeon, I hear the guard’s laughter and mocking comments. They're too vigilant, too alert. I know I can't take them on alone.I stopped pacing and leaned against the wall, my head in my hands. Why did I have to cross Kael? Why did I have to refuse his offer? I asked, trying to sound nonchalant. One of the breeders, a tall, blonde wolf named Sophia, looked at me with her face pale, and fear in her eyes. "Keiran is Kael's brother," she said. "He was banished from the pack years ago for trying to overthrow Kael."I felt a chill run down my spine. "What? Why would he do that?"Sophia leaned in, her eyes darting towards the door and then back at me. "Keiran always thought he should be alpha, not Kael. He's mean, harsh, and ruthless."The other breeders nodded in agreement, each wolf clutching the hem of their dress. "He's not someone to be trifled with," one of them said. Keiran’s POV. I stood up from the couch, my eyes fixed on the guards as they searched my house. My anxiety only got worse with each passing second. After Kael left, the guards seemed to double their efforts. I knew I had hidden all the things that would be of help to them, but I still could not help the fear that slowly took hold of me. What if they found something that I carelessly left? And why did Kael have to excuse himself for some time? Where did he go? I thought back to the moment Kael entered my quarters, his eyes scanning the room as if he knew what he was searching for. But what did it mean to him? And why did he have to speak with Akira afterward? In private, no less. My mind raced with questions, each one more unsettling than the last. I didn't like being in the dark, not when it came to things that affected me directly. And this... this was something big. Why would Kael side with me and refuse to search Zephyr only for him to give an order that I should

Seconds turned into minutes and soon the chariot stopped in front of Lyra’s house.“You can go back,” I said dismissing the guard, who bowed his head and turned to leave.I knocked on the door, and a soft voice called out, "Enter." I pushed open the door and stepped inside. Miya’s house was dimly lit, the air filled with the scent of herbs and smoke."Kael, what brings you here?" Miya asked, her eyes gleaming in the dim light. She sat behind a cluttered desk, surrounded by strange objects, carvings and a pot situated in a corner of the room sizzled and hissed."The murder case," I replied, taking a seat across from her. I pulled out the picture from my pocket and placed it on the desk. "I need your help on this."Miya's expression turned serious as she picked up the picture. "A photograph... of Kaida." And you are just a little lady who came in barely months ago and you want us to suspect our own for an outsider?” "I don't care about his past," I snapped. "I care about what's happening now. And I think Zephyr knows more than he's letting on. After all, he did claim to see the dagger in my room?” Kael stepped forward, his voice calm. "Zephyr, tell me exactly what you saw." Zephyr nodded, his face void of any emotion. "I saw them arguing at the back of Akira’s quarters," he said. "Akira was furious, and Kaida was... well, Kaida was being her usual self mad and taunting.” I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Zephyr cleared his throat before he spoke again. "You know how Kaida was, always causing trouble and arguing with Akira. But Akira... she was different. She was angry, but she was also agitated." I frowned, intrigued. " agitated or scared ?" I massaged my temples, trying to get rid of the headache that was coming. I had been in a trance-like state, and when I finally woke up, I was accused of being a murderer. I didn’t even step out of my room that day, then how can I possibly kill her? The last time we met, we argued about the wrongs she and Keiran were doing but I did not kill her!
