“But you are.” Fred's words, though whispered, sounded deafening. It sent jolts of pleasure sizzling through me like beef in a full pot of oil, the emotion difficult to stifle. Not like I wanted to do that.

He placed his hand under my jaw and made me stare at him. His golden eyes bore into mine, his gaze saying more than his lips could ever do. The dominance in his eyes made my knees weak. My skin tingled expectantly as shivers zapped down my spine.

It was too late to turn back. I was a slave to the emotions he was undoubtedly rousing in me. Succumbing to it was the only thing I could think of.

His thumb rubbed on my neck, his gaze still digging into mine with a ferocity that made me gasp. I wanted to look away, to tear my eyes away from his—and check on Blue—but he held me captive. I couldn't shake my head. I could only stare as his thumb caressed my cheek, his other hand venturing lower.

His touch was electrifying, his fingers lingering on the side of my neck. We stared into each ot
