Novalie POV

My entire life, I had always been taught one thing, to excel in the kitchen. As a female Omega in the Midnight Moon pack, there were very few career paths open to me, none of which would be my choice to make. The Alpha decided where we ended up when we came of age. There were only three positions he put us female Omegas in, which meant I could end up as a packhouse maid, working in the kitchens of the packhouse or in the brothel. That's why I had been taught to excel in the kitchens. Usually the older Omega females, or the ones who weren't particularly nice to look at ended up as maids, the rest were turned into working girls in the ever growing, ever popular sex industry, because there were very few that the Alpha trusted to cook him fabulous meals.

Luckily, I had been raised by my Aunt Marianne, who was the head chef in the packhouse kitchen. Her position allowed me to grow up in the kitchen of the packhouse, where I learned to perfect my craft. My mother had been placed at the brothel when she came of age, a position my Aunt has always told me that she happily took as long as her younger sister had a chance to be placed in the packhouse. I never met her, my mother, she died giving birth to me. Aunt Marianne has raised me since, though she was only 16 at the time of my birth and my mother's death.

Alpha has hated me ever since. My mother was beautiful and one of his best money makers, so when she died giving birth to me, he was quite angry about it. He's lightened up on his hatred of me over the years, though, especially since now I had perfected the craft of baking. He looked forward to his blueberry scone each morning, a pastry that he had always said only I was capable of baking to perfection. Not only had I learned to bake expertly at a young age, but I had always ensured I received top marks in school as well. I was the smartest student at the pack middle school, probably the high-school too and that was saying alot since we were quite a large pack.

We had a rather large pack high-school since almost all of the high-school age kids in the pack attended there. The future Alpha and the Beta twins went away to the prestigious "United States Werewolf Academy." Most packs sent their high-school aged kids there, but not Midnight Moon. No, our pack only sent their future leaders to the Academy. It was a boarding school so when the Alpha heir and the Beta twins had started attending last year they had left in mid-August, came home for a week in the fall over Thanksgiving, two weeks in the winter over Christmas and New Years, and then a week in the spring over Easter before finally returning home for the summer at the beginning of June.

This fall I would start high-school, which I wasn't particularly thrilled about. No one in our pack had any respect for us Omega females, and even in middle school most of the school bullied us all. Their favorite line was to ask us why we needed to attend school when we would just end up spending the rest of our lives on our backs anyway. That was the life of a female Omega here at Midnight Moon. Because our pack was located just outside of Miami, our Alpha family had made quite a name for themselves with their numerous strip clubs and escort services. My Aunt Marianne had pushed me hard to ensure that I wasn't placed at the strip club, in the brothel, or as a call girl though. These days I just hoped that my blueberry scones were enough to make the Alpha want to keep me in the packhouse. I always went out of my way to push myself to create flavorful, unique desserts as well, with the hopes of the Alpha seeing my skills as too valuable to waste in his businesses.

I had just finished pouring the Alpha a cup of fresh coffee before grabbing the basket of blueberry scones to take both up to his office for his breakfast. He had spent the past week out on vacation with his family so he had alot of work to make up and wouldn't come down for breakfast this morning. I knew because he had told me as much when we pulled into the packhouse garage late last night. The Alpha family had been taking me on their family vacations for the past three years to cook for them while they were away from the pack after our Head Omega ended up burning herself badly when she dropped a heavy grease filled pan the last time she went. She was lucky however, that the Alpha allowed her to continue her duties as Head Omega as long as she stayed out of the kitchen. Sarah was quite old and her hands had become shaky in her old age. So, because he didn't want to take Aunt Marianne from the packhouse kitchen, he chose me to go with them instead, stating that I was nearly as good of a cook as my aunt. That first vacation was when he decided that I made the perfect blueberry scones, and he has been starting his mornings with them ever since.

I went to tell Aunt Marianne that I was taking the Alpha his breakfast only to find that she wasn't in the front of the kitchen and had left Liz in charge. So, I told her instead. As I ascended the stairs my mind went back to the yaht that we had spent the past week on. The Beta's twins went with us to keep Eduardo Jr, the Alpha heir, company while his parents handled work related issues. It had actually been an incredibly fun experience, and the Alpha had let me hang out and have fun with Eddie and the Beta twins, José and Juanita, once all of my responsibilities were handled. I was responsible for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday, though I only had to worry about making sure the kids ate a couple nights, and once I hadn't had to cook at all since they had all gone out to eat. They didn't take me to dinner with them, but I didn't have to cook dinner or clean up after that night either so it was fine with me.

As I reached the Alpha's office on the second floor of the packhouse I knocked my usual knock so he would know that I had arrived with his breakfast. The door opened for me, and to my surprise Eddie Jr. stood on the other side wearing his incredibly handsome grin that made his moss green eyes sparkle as if they were laced with morning dew. He opened the door all the way up and I saw my Aunt Marianne standing a few feet behind him, beaming from ear to ear. The way the sun was shining through the window made her look like an angel standing there with the way it kissed her bright red hair, making it shine brightly as though she wore a halo.

"Novalie, please come in! We were just discussing you and the incredibly bright future you have here within our pack." Alpha announced from his seat behind his large cherry wood desk.

I stepped inside with a smile and walked the basket of scones and coffee over to his desk, placing his coffee just to his left, precisely where he likes it before sitting the basket of scones exactly 6 inches up and 4 inches over from his coffee before opening the basket for him. My ability to remember precisely how he prefers things to go is another reason the Alpha had begun taking a liking to me. I remembered all the small details that most of the other Omegas forgot, and he was constantly scolding the maids for their inability to remember where things went so he liked that he never had to tell me anything more than once.

"Thank you Novalie, they smell divine as always. Please, have a seat. Now that you are here we can finish our discussion. As I said,we were just discussing your future within the pack. Well, as you are well aware, Sarah is aging and while she isn't quite there yet, we aren't sure how much longer her mental facilities will stay intact. That is why when Marianne came to me back in the spring with the suggestion of training you to take over as Head Omega upon your graduation, I actually took the time to really think about it. The more I thought about it, the more sense it made. Afterall, you and Eddie get along wonderfully, so by the time he is ready to take over as Alpha, you could also take over as Head Omega. Now when Marianne suggested sending you off to the Academy to get specialized training, I had my doubts, but she assured me that she would pay the expenses out of her own salary, and that you would spend your time while you were home training directly under Sarah, so I reluctantly agreed and signed off on your application. Well, this morning your acceptance letter came. Marianne has given me the semester's tuition payment, so I went ahead and paid it along with Eddie and the twins this morning. While I am sure going to miss having my scones every morning, you will be receiving training from the very best. Being Head Omega isn't easy. You will have to learn to manage schedules to ensure that all of the pack responsibilities are handled, as well as ensure that everyone under you is doing what they are supposed to be doing at all times, handle absences and juggling people around, ensure that things are done properly, learn party planning for big events, and the Head Omega handles the paychecks of all pack members as well. Do you think you can handle that much responsibility Novalie?" He asked me before taking a bite from his scone.

"Absolutely Alpha, I can handle it. I promise I won't let the pack down." I replied as I folded my hands in my lap in an attempt to look confident though I was incredibly nervous.

"Good, I didn't think it would be a problem for a smart girl like you. You'll leave for school with Eddie and the twins on Friday. The car will be out front at 8am, so you'll be packed and ready to go by then. You're both dismissed. Eddie, you stay we have business to discuss." He spoke casually as he turned back to his laptop without giving me a second glance.

I stood from the seat and walked to the door which Aunt Marianne opened for me. She was beaming with excitement for me, as she had always wanted more for me than most Omega females in our pack would ever dare to aspire to. The two of us walked back down to the kitchens as she squealed with joy over my entry to the Academy. I hadn't even known that she had approached the Alpha about sending me there to be trained to take over the Head Omega position, but now I would be leaving for school with Eddie and the Beta twins in just a few short days. She told me that I wouldn't need to pack much, since part of the tuition she paid was for the school to supply my uniforms and shoes. I would only need to pack clothes for the weekends and any essential items I needed. She said that the school supplied nearly everything, so I wouldn't have to worry about books, or school supplies either. That was probably a good thing seeing as how we didn't have much.

Aunt Marianne and I had shared a small room in the basement of the packhouse my entire life. Only twenty of us Omega females, plus Sarah, the Head Omega, lived in the packhouse. The rest of the Omega females lived in the brothels on the outskirts of the territory. Whenever one of the escorts or stripper Omegas would get knocked up they moved them to what are called training houses. They stayed there until they gave birth, then a month after they gave birth they were sent back to the brothels. The training houses are where all the female babies were kept well after the male babies aged out. They grew up there unless they had a family member stationed elsewhere that was willing to take care of them while their mothers went back to the brothel. The boys went to care houses after their fourth birthday, where they lived under the supervision of the older female Omegas who were too old to work the strip clubs or the escort services. Unless they, too, like the female omegas, had a family member outside of the brothels who was willing to take them in. The older female Omegas who had aged out of working the strip clubs and escort services ran the brothel houses, the training houses and the care houses.

Luckily, I had Aunt Marianne who took me into the packhouse after my mother died. I'm sure the Alpha hadn't been too happy about it, but since Aunt Marianna had always been his best cook, he had allowed it. So I had grown up in this room. There are ten rooms like ours in the basement, and a dormitory style bathroom that the twenty of us packhouse Omegas shared. Ten of us worked the kitchens, and the other ten cleaned the public areas, the offices, and the ranked suites, as well as did all the ranked members laundry. The female Omegas at Midnight Moon didn't have mates, so that wasn't an issue in our housing arrangements. If one of them happened to find their mate within the pack, or in a visiting pack, they were usually rejected due to our incredibly low status or because no one wants to feel the pain of infidelity because their mate is forced to do sex work for a living. Our Head Omega, Sarah, had her own bedroom on the main floor in the back of the house by the kitchens. It was a small suite with an office and ensuite bathroom. I'd been in there a quite a bit growing up, as she used to watch me while Aunt Marianne was busy in the kitchen before I was old enough to help out. I've been in there a few times since, but only on Aunt Marianne's orders.

Novalie POV As the days passed by and I began preparing to go away to school, I found it crazy to think that one day that would be my own little suite, and Aunt Marianne would finally have the bedroom to herself. I couldn't help but to wonder if she would be lonely while I was away. Before I knew it, it was Thursday evening and we had just finished up showering after cleaning the kitchen after dinner. Aunt Marianne and I went back to our room and as she was making sure I had everything I would need packed up, Alpha mindlinked me to come to his office. I told her I would be back and hurried up the two floors to his office. I knocked my usual knock, and to my surprise Luna Natalia opened the door and asked me to come inside. She quickly closed it and made her way back around Alpha Eduardo's desk to stand behind him as he spoke to me. "Are you all packed up and ready to go in the morning?" He asked me as he relaxed back into his leather office chair. "Yes Alpha, Aunt Marianne was

Novalie POV We said our goodbyes and packed into the car to go to the airport where the Alpha family's private jet was waiting to take us to the Mountainous Northwest. The academy was located in the mountains of Idaho, so it was almost a 6-hour flight. I sat in the very back of the SUV, quietly staring out the window. When Juanita told me that she thought it was cool that I was going to be the Head Omega, I just gave her polite smile and a quiet thank you before turning my gaze back to the window. I didn't miss the questioning look she gave Eddie, though, or the look he gave her before turning around to look at me. He was sitting directly in front of me, so he turned towards the window to look behind him. When I caught his gaze, he just gave me a sad smile with a slight nod before turning back around. The look on his face said that this was hurting him too, but I wouldn't let his feelings cloud my judgement, never again. When we made it to the strip we got out of the car and boarded

  • The Lunar Wolves- The Full Moon Wolf   Chapter 4

Novalie POV We pulled through the gates of the Academy and drove down a long drive before we finally came to a stop infront of a large building. This place was like a small town with teenagers walking around everywhere. When we got out of the car Eddie walked up to me stone faced and told me to walk through the doors into the building behind me to get my room assignment and class schedule. I gave him a grateful smile and told him thank you Alpha before grabbing my two duffel bags and heading into the building. His stone faced expression faltered a little when I called him Alpha, and I knew the words had pierced his heart. I hadn't ever called him Alpha until that very moment. He was always just Eddie to me, my friend, the boy I loved. But he wasn't anymore, he couldn't be. So I sucked in a deep breath as I recognized his pain and just turned around to get on with moving on. Getting my room assignment and class schedule had been simple enough, and luckily I had been given a map so f

  • The Lunar Wolves- The Full Moon Wolf   Chapter 5

Novalie POV The next week passed in a blur as I adjusted to my new surroundings and the demands of life at the academy. The classes were actually the easiest part of my day. It was the in-between part that was the hardest. Everyone here seemed to be fascinated by the fact that I was a Midnight Moon Omega female and attending the academy. A group of Gamma boys had taken to calling me the Midnight Moon Madam, while the other ranked kids called me much, much worse. I could see the sympathy in the other Omegas eyes when I passed them, but I just smiled at them to let them know it was OK. I was easily able to ignore them, I'd been ignoring bullies my whole life. The only thing that kept me sane while being stuck on campus was the sprawling library that it boasted. I spent most of my free time in there reading. I had been in there reading one friday evening when the librarian walked over and told me that the library was closing, but I could check out the book I was reading and continue t

Xavier POV It was Friday night and I was hanging out with Lauren in the main Alpha lounge. Each floor had its own lounge area, but the main floor had a couple lounges, a game room, a home theater, and a kitchen. Not that any of us Alphas cooked, but it was there if we wanted to try, or if any of the girls who were taking one of the elective cooking classes had a cooking project. I was in the main lounge with Lauren who had been increasingly getting on my nerves this year. She's had her sights set on being my girlfriend since freshman year, and last year I finally gave her the chance. Things were good last year, we had a lot of fun together. Then summer break came. I don't know if the summer changed us or what, but now I found myself annoyed just being in her presence. My wolf, Lunar, had usually just retreated into the back of my mind whenever she was around, always mumbling about her not being our mate. He said her wolf Lena was just as annoying as she was, so he always disappeare

Novalie A couple more weeks went by after the incident with the Gamma, and though Xavier smiled at me every time we passed eachother, he hadn't tried to talk to me again, which I was incredibly thankful for. That is at least, until he did approach me, in front of almost the whole campus one day as I was eating lunch with Katie. It was a Thursday, since Katie and I only had the same lunch hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Katie instinctively lowered her head in submission, so I did the same. Although I didn't fear Xavier would see it as disrespectful the way all the other Alphas would. "That's not necessary ladies, come on, don't please." He chuckled, making his sea green eyes sparkle. "I only came over here to see if you had finished that book you borrowed from the library?" He asked through his gorgeous panty dropping smile. Eddie was sitting at his regular table not too far from us, so I knew he was listening in, and I immediately started to panic. Xavier must've heard my hear

Novalie I wasn't sure what time it was when my stomach started rumbling, demanding to be fed. I had been in the library for a while, scanning the shelves after Xavier left. I felt kinda bad, knowing I would have no choice but to evade and avoid him from now on. It seemed unconsciously I had found my way over to the business section of books before choosing one I found interesting, and then found myself wandering over to the section of books about writing. It seemed that no matter how hard I fought against the subconscious dreams I had, they always found a way to seep through. My reality knew that the chances of me ever becoming the notable author I dreamed of being were nonexistent, and the dream I had of one day opening my own bakery was incredibly slim as well. But at least with the dream of opening a bakery, I had a slight chance. If I could stay on Eddie's good side, and if he got a decent Luna, perhaps if I filled my duties of Head Omega perfectly, they would let me open a small

Xavier POV I left the Omega dorms grateful that Lunar had been able to free her of the stupid Alpha command that made her run away from us earlier and push herself into the corner of her room tonight. Luckily I had been able to talk the Headmaster into giving me her room number so I could go check on her. He told me that she seemed fine when he had spoken to her, though she was insistent that the next wolf who dared to assault her would be in for a fight. She may be an Omega, but she seemed to get stronger everyday. I couldn't help but wonder if it was from our presence in her life, but Lunar refused to give me an answer on if we could do that. I decided I was going to have a chat with Eddie when I got back to the dorms, and I didn't care how late it was or whether he was sleeping or not. It was so incredibly low of him to command her to stay away from us, and I nor Lunar were going to tolerate his blatant disrespect, especially when he didn't have the balls to stand up for her. So

Novalie POV I woke up the next morning to Xavier's muscular arms tightening around me, pulling me closer as his chest vibrated with Lunar's deep purring. In his sleeping state, he dipped his head into the crease of my neck and took a deep inhale before kissing my collar bone, where my mate's mark would lay one day, ever so softly. I couldn't help the sigh that I released as his lips grazed over my most tender area, wanting, no, needing to feel them pressed against my own once more. Apparently he felt the same way as he lifted his head, his bright sparkling green eyes looking down at me just before he pressed his lips to mine. We really were playing with fire, but if it meant I could feel his lips against mine, I didn't fear the burn. Today we would go shopping for his tuxes and my dresses with his mom, who was more excited than both of us combined to be doing so. Xavier had told me all about how his mother had always wanted a daughter to do these types of things with, and how it was

Xavier POV The days seemed to fly by as I found myself dreading each day that brought us closer to returning to school. The only thing that gave me comfort in knowing we would be returning to school soon was Nova's new found popularity. It seemed like all the ranked girls wanted to be her friend now that she was not only an Alpha female, but an incredibly powerful one at that. Ofcourse all the Alpha guys that she had used her aura on had started gossiping about it and word had quickly spread about how her aura was more powerful than most Alpha males. The only ranked girls who weren't lined up to kiss her ass these days were Lauren & Jocelyn, but that's probably because they knew she would never even consider being friends with the likes of them. But, the only ranked girls she bothered to speak to or be friendly with were Heather, Abby, and the Beta girl from her old pack. The rest of them she blatantly ignored, just as they had all done the many times she had been harassed and bulli

Novalie POV I was surprised at Alana's nonchalant demeanor towards the ever developing relationship between Xavier and I. She still spent Spring break hanging out with us, but now that she knew, we were able to openly flirt and cuddle while she was around. We hadn't kissed since that first night, and though I wanted to kiss him terribly, I didn't want to push his boundaries of whatever was going on between us. Besides, I had a boyfriend, if you could call him that with him being on the other side of the Atlantic. Xavier had his own thoughts on Charles, and though he didn't openly communicate them, he made sure to tell me how Alpha guys would be looking to secure me, the only daughter of one of the most influential Alphas in the world, with one of the largest packs, as their Luna for the alliance that mating with me would provide them with. What I wasn't prepared for was the sad smile he gave me when I told him that I had no intention on being anyone's Luna, that I had goals and plan

Xavier POV The beginning of the second term flew by, and having Novalie in the Alpha dorm made it much more bearable. She and Heather became friendly, just as I knew they would, and the three of us spent most of our time together. She was still having nightmares though, and she would occasionally end up in my room because of them. Ofcourse we always took advantage of the situation and used the opportunity to cuddle one another, but she hadn't kissed me since that night, nor I her. The way I felt about her had become manageable now that we were both aware of the situation and I was quite grateful for it. I felt free and unburdoned when it came to Novalie, though if I spent too much time away from her I easily became quickly agitated. By the time we made it home for our first day of spring break it was late in the evening, but I was happy to finally have Novalie all to myself. The packhouse was empty from the late hour as we walked through it and up to our rooms. Our parents followed

Novalie POV The loud knock on the door startled me from the deep sleep I had been in. Instead of jumping out of bed the way I had expected him to, Xavier pulled me even closer into him as he nuzzled the crook of my neck, inhaling my scent. We had never actually slept in the same bed before, let alone cuddled together like this, but it felt right for us to be here like this. Xavier groaned softly as he released me and climbed out of bed before grabbing his pillow and throwing it on the couch he had just a few feet infront of the bed. He grabbed the blanket that had fallen on the floor from the foot of the bed, opened it, and threw it on the couch as well, so it would look like he had slept there, instead of in bed cuddled with me. There was another sharp knock on the door, and I couldn't help but to giggle when Xavier let out an exasperated sigh, annoyed by whoever was on the other side. He walked over to the door and opened it slightly to see who it was, without letting them see me

Xavier POV I'm not really sure what I expected her reaction to my confession to be, but her standing here in my room, in the dark with her hand on my chest certainly wasn't on the list of possibilities. What the hell was she thinking? But now that she was here, standing in my arms as if she belonged in them, I didn't want to let her go. She was looking up at me with those gorgeous dark brown eyes of hers waiting for me to say something, but I wasn't sure what to say, or if I could even form words. I wanted nothing more than to taste her lips, but I knew that I couldn't. If I got a chance to taste them, I'm not sure how I would ever live without them. Using all the willpower I had, I pulled away from her, releasing her from my hold. As soon as I pulled my hands away from her body I regretted it. I wanted nothing more than to grab her, push her against the wall and kiss her until we were both breathless, but I knew I couldn't. So, I instead began pacing the floor infront of my bed. I
