Chapter 0004

I woke up to a really dark room with a weird smell and an annoying beeping sound in it. I looked around me to quickly realize that I was in a hospital room.

I was in a room all to myself, which I thought was weird because only important people got private rooms. I didn’t know why I was in here. But then the door opened and Leo walked in.

“What the hell happened?” I asked.

“I found you bleeding out in your house.” He says, sitting on the chair next to my bed. I tried to sit up but the pain between my legs reminded me of what had happened.

“Why did you bring me here?” I growled.

“What do you mean? You were going to die.” He says.

“That was the point.” I said, not even looking at him.

“Why the hell would you try to kill yourself? What happened last night?” He asked.

“You already know the answer to that. You can smell them on me. I can smell them on me.” I said, screwing up my nose at the smell. I felt like I was going to be sick just smelling it. I look at my arms and they are bandaged all the way from the wrist to the elbow. And I was hooked up to an IV and a blood bag.

“You’re going to be weak until the blood transfusion is finished.” Leo said. But I still didn’t look at him. I couldn’t look at anyone.

“Can you just leave me alone?” I asked.

“No. They did a rape kit.” He says. And my head snapped to look at him.

“They had no right. I didn’t give them permission for that.” I growled.

“You didn’t have to give permission. You were unconscious and almost dead. I told them to do it. They found fluids from several different men.” He snapped at me.

“No shit.” I say.

“How many were there?” He asked.

“It doesn’t matter anymore. And there was no point doing the rape kit. Once the names come up it will get thrown out or ‘accidentally’ lost.” I said, looking away from him again.

“It was Owen, wasn’t it? He was in charge of it.” Leo says.

“Just fucking leave it.” I said through gritted teeth.

“I’ll let you get some rest. Just so you know, I sent the rape kit to a different lab at a different pack. So it won’t get destroyed. I told them that they are only to speak to me about it. I’ll know who those men were and I’ll make sure that everyone else finds out as well. The Alpha is going to know that his son isn’t perfect.” He says, leaving the room. I knew that the Alpha thought of us as scum but I also knew that if the Alpha knew what his son did, then Owen would be disciplined for it. He wouldn’t stand for something like that. But that didn’t change anything.

They just accused my father of sexual assault and then I was attacked by the Alpha’s son and his friends. Could this day get any worse? I really didn’t know what the hell to do. I was never going to live this down. Everyone was no doubt already talking about my father. I knew that they would all know what happened to me as well. I can’t live with that. I don’t want people to know what happened to me. They’ll all say that I deserved it or that I was asking for it or some shit like that.

Just because I was attacked doesn’t mean anything was going to change around here. That’s what Leo didn’t understand. He’s had the privileged life, his whole life. He doesn’t know what it’s like from my side.

I had to start thinking of a plan right now. Before I got out of the hospital. I knew that I already had enough credits to graduate high school. I was just staying so that I could save up some more money to go off to college. But now it looks like that’s not going to happen.

I did have one other option though. I knew that there was one place that I could go where I would be completely safe. But I had to act fast.

The truth is, the Alpha knew about my wolf. And that was the only reason why I was still allowed in the pack. Why I wasn’t banished or killed for some minor offense. The Alpha needs me for when I turn 18. I can’t let him get his hands on me when I turn 18 because I don’t know what he’s going to do to me. I really didn’t want to think about it.

The nurse came in to check my vitals a little while later and she said that it was all looking good.

So as soon as she left I unhooked the machines and I grabbed my clothes that were on the side table and I got dressed and I opened my hospital door.

I looked around and I couldn’t see anyone there so I put my hoodie up and I left the room and down the hallway, making sure that the doctors and nurses didn’t see my face or my hair because that was always a dead give away.

When I got outside I headed for the tree line and I made my way all the way back to the house.

I had a quickly shower to get those men’s scents off of me and I threw those clothes in the bin. I got dressed and I grabbed a backpack and jammed as many clothes into it as I possibly could.

I then pulled up a floorboard in my bedroom and I pulled out all the money that I had been saving up from work. It wasn’t much, but I knew that it would get me to where I was going.

As soon as I left the house I made sure that there was no one around and I took off into the woods and headed for the border.

I pulled out my phone and I dialed a number while I was walking through the woods and looking around, to make sure that no one was following me.

“Commander Edwards.” The man said.

“Hello sir. This is Sadie Nicols.” I announced.

“Sadie. It’s good to hear from you again.” He says.

“Thank you sir. I was just calling to let you know that I have enough credits to graduate and that I am already leaving my pack. I hope that spot is still open for me that you offered.” I said.

“Of course it is. I told you that you would be a valuable member of the werewolf army academy.” He says.

“Excellent. I’ll be there in a couple of days.” I say.

“Alright. I look forward to seeing you again.” He says.

When I got off the phone I actually felt relieved. Now I knew that I definitely had a place to go. I wasn’t going to be wandering around on my own, which would eventually turn me rogue myself. I wouldn’t be able to stand that. Rogues are more animal than human. That’s why they attack packs. Because it’s their instinct to.

I knew that it would take a couple of days to get to the academy, and I needed to be really careful about getting there.

As soon as they realize that I’m not in the hospital anymore then the Alpha will be looking for me. I had a really unique wolf that wasn’t very common. It was very coveted actually, and I knew that the Alpha was going to use my wolf for evil. Not for good. And I wasn’t going to let him use my wolf as a weapon. She didn’t deserve that and neither did I. Because I don’t think he would ever let me out again and he would make sure that my wolf had full reign of our conscience. I basically wouldn’t exist any more.

I had to hurry but I was stopped in my tracks by two wolves that were on patrol.

They were both in menacing poses, ready to attack. Teeth barred and growling at me. I stood there with my hands up, showing them that I am not a threat.
