Chapter 0006

I sat on the bus trying not to panic. I was freaking out inside, but trying to stay cool and calm on the outside while I was trying to conceal my face. But that didn’t mean anything with hair as blonde as mine. It was always a dead give away. So I finally looked up and Leo was staring straight at me. I knew that he was ordered to find me and bring me home and he looked at the other people on the bus behind me.

“Leo. Anything?” Someone sang out from outside the bus.

“Nope. She’s not here. She must have gotten on one of the other buses.” Leo said, winking at me before he turned and got off the bus. So the driver shut the door and we kept going on our way.

Everyone on the bus was talking about what had just happened. I guess they weren’t used to getting pulled over on the highway by ‘police’ and having the bus searched. But I still kept to myself and let out a sigh of relief that it was Leo who found me and not one of the others.

I was in for a long bus ride now. The military compound was out in the middle of nowhere in Colorado and I knew that I needed to make myself comfortable. I was happy that no one was sitting next to me so that I could spread out a little more.

I knew that everyone was looking at me, a lot of them probably saw Leo wink at me before he got off the bus. They’re probably thinking that I’m an escape criminal or something. If only they knew the truth.

But I wasn’t causing any trouble and I just had to ignore everyone else on the bus. It should be easy for me. I’ve been ignoring people my whole life for staring and talking about me behind my back. I was used to it.

But the fact that Leo let me go must say something to them. At least, I hope it did.

I was on the bus for over a day when it finally stopped and it let me off at a bus stop that was in the middle of absolutely nowhere in Colorado.

“Miss, are you sure that you want me to let you out here. There are all sorts of animals in these woods.” The driver said. Oh, if only he knew what sort of animals were in these woods.

“It’s alright, sir. Thanks for your concern but I’m having someone pick me up. They should be here soon.” I say stepping off the bus.

He looked concerned but he still had to keep going on his route and he closed the door and left.

I put my bag on my back and I looked at the woods across the road from me and I crossed over and walked straight into the woods.

I knew that this compound was well hidden, and even werewolves have trouble finding it when they're looking. But I’ve been looking at this compound on the map for the last six months. I knew exactly where it was. Because if I didn’t get into college then this was always going to be my backup option.

I only chose it now because it is my only option. It doesn’t mean that I can’t go to college later on.

I was walking through the woods for about two hours when the scent of wolves got a lot stronger and I knew that I was getting closer.

With my werewolf hearing, I could hear them off in the distance. I could hear them training and some were off messing around doing other things. It sounded like they were all having fun. Even the ones that were training. It didn’t sound normal to me.

The warriors back at home never sounded like they were having fun when they were training. They were getting their asses kicked and a lot of them were limping by the time they left training and they couldn’t walk properly.

I was starting to wonder if I was in the right place.

I then heard something off to the side of me, like a twig snapping or something and I stopped suddenly. I looked to the left of me and then the right. I didn’t know who was staking out this army base and I was afraid to find out. I heard someone whispering behind me and I turned around but again, I couldn’t see anyone. I was being surrounded and they were playing games with me. That much was obvious.

But as I heard that noise again, I had a feeling that I was about to find out exactly who was out here. Fearing that I had walked straight into something that I had nothing to do with. But if I was apart of this army base now, I guess it was something that I was a part of. I just didn’t expect to get jumped before I even got to the base.

Suddenly someone charged at me from the left and I managed to dodge out of the way just in time and he landed right into a girl that was on the right of me. There were two of them.

I stood back and I dropped my bag on the ground and I got ready for what was about to happen. I had only ever trained with Leo, but I had been training for two years and I needed to trust myself with that training. Even though I had never put it into practice before.

The both of them charged at me at the same time and I went for the guy first. I kicked him in the face and then dropped to the ground quickly and spun around and kicked both of their legs out from underneath them and they both landed on their backs.

Then someone grabbed me from behind around my arms so that I couldn’t move and by the scent I could tell that it was another man. And he was huge. Just by holding me around the arms he managed to lift me off the ground and hold me there while a second girl came running at me and she leapt into the air with her leg extended, ready to kick me. But I used my leg to kick her leg off to the side and she lost her momentum and as she was falling to the ground I kicked her in the face as well. And then I threw my head back and headbutted the guy that was holding me and I kicked him in the crotch so he would let me go and I landed on my feet.

There were three people on the ground now so I turned around to look at the big fella behind me and he was growling and snarling because of where I kicked him and then another man walked up beside him.

How many of these fuckers were there?

The smaller guy charged at me and I ducked down and threw him over my shoulder and then I turned around to face him as he hand landed on his feet and he charged at me again, this time hitting me in the face and I fell back against the large guy again but he pushed me forward towards his friend.

The guy kicked me in the stomach and I crouched over for a moment but when I saw him coming at me again, I dropped to the ground and rolled out of the way and got back to my feet.

That’s when the big guy stepped forward and he was looking more than pissed. He wanted to rip my head off. And I didn’t know how I was going to take him down. All of my training didn’t prepare me for him. He was only about 6 foot 2, but his muscles were huge. He was definitely stronger than me so I knew that I needed to use my brains here. How was I going to get out of this one? But as I looked around, I couldn’t even find anything to use as a weapon. So I needed to use the only weapons that I had, and my claws started to retract from my nails. And that was the only thing that stopped him from advancing on me.
