Chapter Forty - Nine

Pretend:

Lance tingles all over hearing her whisper such words into his ear. He pulled back looking at her, studying her trying to see if she really meant it. He wanted it to be true. His wolf wanted it to be true. If she meant it they could really conquer the world together. He looked at her neck, jealousy coursing through him.

“His mark.” Lance whispered to her, nodding at her neck.

Nora’s heart sank, she knew right away what he was implying. It was sacred. Itg meant she and Jace were forever connected. It was more special than a wedding ring. She sat down on his lap to confuse him and hoped to hide her immediate sadness. She wiggled slightly just to add more destruction into her motive.

“What about it?” Nora asked, turning to face him.

“It means you belong to him.” Lance growled.

“I belong to no one.” Nora growled, running her finger tips down the side of his face.

“You need to belong to me.” Lance growled back.

“And my word is not enough?” Nora said her voice was coy.
