Chapter Forty - Eight

City Lights:

Zara put her nose to the air tracking the scent of the three council members. She raced off into the distance. The moonlight light is still lighting the way to go. She knew she was far outside their pack's territory now. The air felt different, the ground was harder,and everything shifted. She just couldn't tell if they were in Bruce’s territory or Lance’s. Everything smelt like both Bruce and Lance. She kept to the path the moon set for her.

“If we were headed to Lance’s shouldn't we start smelling the ocean?” Nora said inside their mind.

“That’s what I was thinking. I’m starting to smell …like city air. The world opens up near the ocean but this doesn't look like that. It looks like we will be hitting a…. City.” Zara said as she stopped short at the edge of the forest.

As if she summoned it with her thoughts a black tar road appeared leading the way to a city. The city seems to sparkle and shimmer in the distance.
