ISABELLE’S POV
I pushed past them and lounged on the plush sofa, observing the awkward tension radiating from Rowan and Kael as they stared at me.
They both stood still, on their guard, they looked unsure of what to do in a club. I gestured for them to sit down, patting the cushions on my sides with a sly smile.
“Both of you need to relax and let go,” I teased. “You’re making it very obvious to everyone watching, you’ve never been to this sort of place.”
They hesitated for a second, their eyes flickering over me with wariness before they crossed the distance and settled at my sides.
Their warmth engulfed me, my body on high alert from their closeness, their distinct scents mixing in the air.
Rowan sat stiffly, his expression slowly easing into something almost playful yet his eyes remained sharp and calculated. “Darling, it seems you’re quite at home here.”
For a split second, the sudden pet name caught me off guard, and I faltered, my eyes snapping towards him.
He looked a bit more relaxed, his eyes watching me closely, filled with a hint of mischief.
‘What game is he playing?’ My wolf wondered. I never expected him to play along with our pretences.
‘Has he suddenly changed the way he sees you?’ She questioned instinctively, her voice echoing with confusion. I mused over her question, watching his expression closely and I eventually dismissed the thought.
I wasn't willing to believe, after so many years chasing him without success, he would suddenly change how he sees me in a second.
Quickly replacing my shocked expression into an easy smile, I leaned fully into the act. “Darling? Isn't that a bit presumptuous Rowan. You should be calling me ‘Mistress.’ After all, you’re just one of my many lovers.” I responded with a little bit of flair.
Kael, who had been watching us silently, nearly choked on the glass of water he had just picked up. Rowan, however, didn’t sputter, leaning back onto the sofa.
The room buzzed with tension as we exchanged subtle glances.
As the tension heightened the silence in the booth deafening, a heavily made-up woman walked in, not alone. She was leading a line of elegant women all dressed to entice, their bodies on full display.
“Hello, my name is Lyra and we are all at your service.” She announced with a dramatic curtsey.
My gaze scanned the women and smiled slyly as they introduced themselves, but I clicked my tongue in disapproval waving them off with a dismissive flick of my wrist.
“These won’t do,” I replied coldly, my eyes still trained on the group. “I need you to bring me the best. I was told this establishment caters to those with very discerning tastes.”
The woman raised her brow at me, her eyes narrowing.
“I heard from someone named Casper,” I added,
It was a calculated move that I made to set everything in motion. I sat the tiniest flicker in Lyra's expression and moments later, she returned, carrying a bottle of fine wine, offering to personally serve me.
“You should come with me.” She whispered brazenly in my ear after setting the drink down. She leaned even closer, lowering her voice. “Perhaps you’d like to leave here? And go somewhere more intimate?”
I started rising up like I wanted to stand, but Rowan and Kael immediately caught my hands, holding me in place.
Rowan leaned forward, his Beta aura radiating authority. “That won’t be necessary,” he said firmly. “Mistress Isabelle is a relative of the Night Fall Pack’s Beta. I trust you wouldn’t want to offend such an important connection.”
“And as my girlfriend, I wouldn't allow anyone to touch her.” Kael quipped in with a jealous tone that seemed too real.
“I can't be seen doing anything improper,” I added, playing along. “If I'm caught it won't be good for my nobel Beta relative.”
I leaned back, dropping the glass with a slight sway, Rowan's arms closed around me as I smiled feigning drunkenness.
“Oh, you two,” I drawled out with a giggle. “Always so protective. I suppose it’s time to leave. I need my beauty sleep.”
Rowan and Kael, both stood up, carefully guiding me out of the club.
LYRA’S POV
I gritted my teeth in annoyance, my sharp gaze
monitoring as the men lead the noble woman out of the club.
I knew her type: wealthy, connected, and very valuable to me and my work for the noble family that ruled the Night Fall back before the new Alpha.
I had a plan and I purposely leaked information that the club offered special services to high status individuals, to lure some key masters of the Night fall pack in exchange for very valuable information.
And recently, several high society members have visited the club and after negotiations I have been able to gather some Intel. I worked for a noble family that rules the Night Fall back before the new Alpha
A few days ago, I made my biggest catch yet, but he was taken away before I could extract the information I needed from him.
I had played the situation out, pretending I was a victim so I wouldn't be caught in the investigation.
My plan was simple: isolate the woman, find out all about her connections, and extract any valuable information. But before she could make her move, the men beside her stopped me, their protective instincts kicking in.
I watched their retreating figures with annoyance, my mind racing. I had spent weeks investigating Beta Rowan, only for this mysterious woman to appear and complicate everything.
The legendary Beta known for his profound wisdom and bravery was seeming like a tough nut to crack.
My mind went back to the woman in front of me.Who is she really? I wondered. She definitely caught my attention as her connections to the Beta made her even more intriguing.
I clenched my jaw, as they walked through the door. I shouldn't have let such a promising lead slip through my hands, but there was nothing I could do, not with those men here to protect her. I just had to watch her go.
For now, I retreated, but the game wasn't over.
ISABELLE’S POVThe night air was brushed cooly against my skin and face as Rowan, Kael and I burst through the doors of the club. We stood outside the dimly lit club, after barely escaping the subtle traps Lyra spun inside for us.There was something about her that threw me off, the small change in her expression when I mentioned Casper. It was the tiniest movement and if I wasn't watching her closely I would have missed it.But I pushed that thought aside for now, as I turned around to face the two men, my eyes narrowing.“What,” I began, crossing my arms over my chest with a stern glare, my expression hardening, “was the meaning of what happened back there?” I questioned, tilting my head with raised brows. They both sputtered, their brows raised at me. They exchanged a glance filled with confusion before Rowan spoke up.“What do you mean, Isab–” Rowan started but I cut him off.“You know exactly what I'm talking about.” I growled. “I'm talking about the whole drama back there and
ISABELLE’S POVMy eyes were wide as I studied Alan's lean figure, I couldn't help but notice just how he had changed since our first encounter. His once-worn appearance and tattered clothes have been replaced with a clean suit jacket, his hair clean shaven. He flashed his teeth at me, his usual confidence radiating off him.I glanced back at the breathtaking painting and then to the whole of his stall. “So,” I asked, gesturing at the paintings, “how did you end up here in this stall, selling art?”He flashed me another warm smile, his gruff voice steady. “Well, thanks to your help the last time we met. And with the money, I managed to rent this stall. It’s still small and humble, but it allows me to make a living doing something I love.”My wolf stirred with approval and self satisfaction. ‘I knew there was something I saw in him, he's not someone easily defeated or knocked down.’ She mused.I nodded slightly as I picked up the vibrant landscape painting I had been admiring, the st
ISABELLE’S POVI tilted my head, trying to hide my amusement, as Kael's face flushed crimson. “Why are you so concerned about me? Don’t tell me you’ve grown attached.” I asked.Kael straightened, his voice stiff and formal. “I’m just worried about your safety, Princess. If anything dangerous were to happen to you, I know my entire family would bear the consequences.”The corner of my mouth twitched with annoyance, the smile dropping from my face. This was always all about duty, nothing more. “You’re such a stubborn fool,” I snapped back, spinning on my heel and walking back to the car, my chest heaving with anger.Kael scrambled after me, his footsteps heavy on the concrete sidewalk as he trailed me back to the car, slipping into the passenger seat with guilt clouding his features. “I'm sorry if I annoyed you, Princess, I apologise for my manners.” He said in a hushed whisper. But I wasn’t going to let him off so easily. I turned to face him, my eyes narrowed into slits “You’re not j
ISABELLE’S POVI walked straight to the palace, striding through the palace halls with a stern expression, my footsteps echoing on the polished marble floors. I ignored the glances the guards gave me as I made my way to the palace throne room. When I walked my brother was lounging on his throne, his sharp blue eyes lighting up when his eyes met mine.“Ah, little sister,” Tristan greeted, his tone laced with playful sarcasm. “I heard how you have been so busy lately.”I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes at him, clearly unimpressed. “And what do you mean by that?” I asked. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the arm rest. “ I'm just very pleased to see you finally putting your talents to use. Perhaps I should even reward you for your great efforts.”“I don’t need anything,” I retorted quickly, with a dismissive wave.Tristan smirked, clearly enjoying himself at my expense. “No? You would not even accept recognition for saving a homeless painter at a coffee shop?”I froze, my expr
TRISTAN’S POVI leaned back in my chair, staring at the map of the Pack’s territories spread across the desk before me.Everything I planned came together perfectly just like I wanted. I knew all along that Kael’s younger brother was wrongfully accused, he never committed any of the crimes he was charged with.I had known the truth about the case from the beginning but I had leaned back and allowed the situation to play out so I could determine how loyal General Kael was.It wasn’t just a test of Kael’s investigative skills—it was the ultimate test of his family's loyalty to the pack and my reign.A shadow of doubt had always rested on Kael’s family because of their dark history. Years ago, they had been implicated in a betrayal concerning the former ruling pack and since then their family has been under scrutiny.Kael had passed the test and I was relieved to find that his loyalty lies with the pack, with this investigation he proved his determination and devotion to the Night Fall.
ISABELLE’S POVI rose up from the sofa with narrowed eyes, slowly stalking towards him, my expression hardening.I crossed my arms over my chest, our eyes locked in a heated gaze. “I saved your brother just as I promised I would. And now it’s time for you to honor your end of the deal we made.”Kael didn’t immediately respond, falling silent. He broke away from my gaze, his eyes flickering around the room, anywhere but at me.His usual calm composure was cracking, and I finally started to see the man underneath. I tilted my head, studying him carefully. I wasn't going to give up until he agreed to honor his end of the deal. He made a promise to me and he has to keep it.“Kael?” I pressed my voice firm as I took a step closer towards him. “So do you really plan to break your word? We both know you’re not that kind of man, or am I mistaken, General?”His younger brother, standing nearby was watching us intently, his eyes filled with confusion. He looked at me with wide eyes. “What deal
ISABELLE’S POVThe air was crisp and cold as I stepped out of Kael’s residence, the confidence I walked in with already cracking ever so slightly. I had laid all my cards on the table, pressed him for a response and did everything I could to make him give in but Kael remained silent and that haunted me. Would he agree to my bold request? My wolf remained calm, hardly bordered by the situation.‘Just wait,’ she murmured. ‘He’ll come back to you.’I took a deep breath as I slid into the car, wrangling my fingers in my lap with nervousness. I was trying to believe her and wait but it was harder than it seemed.I returned to the villa in a dark mood, storming through the halls, ignoring greetings till I got into my room and slammed the door hard behind me.I Ieaned unto the back of the door, anxiety building up within me. I gave myself a second before I swallowed hard, pressing my cold hands to my face.‘Just wait.’ My wolf echoed in my mind, her voice calming me down a little. I leaned
ISABELLE’S POVThe silence in the room was charged with electricity, and thick with tension. Kael stood at the center, his head bowed slightly, his gaze avoiding mine.Every single muscle in his body was taut and rock-hard. He finally looked up at me, his dark eyes smouldering, a dark storm brewing behind them. I watched him with a predatory smile, savouring the power coursing through me at this moment.“Kael,” I whispered, my tone soft yet filled with command. “You’re not going to keep me waiting, are you, are you going to honour your promise?”He looked down at my words, lowering his head, I held back a chuckle at his sudden shyness. This strong soldier, the general of the army that led wars and invasions, suddenly became shy in my presence. For a moment, I imagined he would reject me and bolt, but instead, he clenched his jaw and held his ground. I arched my brow at his reaction, my dark smirk deepening.Unable to hold back any further, I leaned in, close enough for my lips to g
ISABELLE’S POVMy breath caught in my throat, but I quickly masked my reaction. “I am doing nothing of the sort, Rowan. I’m simply acting with what I see and observe. Perhaps you should do the same.”His eyes darkened, and his expression tightened. “Do you actually believe that I have any intentions towards her?” He growled, his frustration evident in his clenched jaw.Swallowing my unease for his closeness, I squared my shoulders. “Yes, Rowan. I do. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’d like some time alone without you following me around.”My heart was pounding from the tension between us, heavy and charged, but I refused to look down and walk away. His words hung in the air, heavy and dark. I stared at him, my mind racing. Why had he been waiting for me? What did he mean by what he was saying?Gathering my composure, my gaze flickered over him cautiously, “Tell me exactly why you were waiting for me?”His piercing gaze met mine and he stepped even closer, till there was only a single inch
ISABELLE’S POVI arched my eyebrows, tilting my head towards her. “And what is this matter that must be addressed?” I asked incredulously.I could see the envy shining in Tania's eyes and the clear irritation under her skin as she looked at Lila. She was going to find a way to bring her down at any cost, even if it meant lying. Her dark gaze shifted to Lila, her eyes narrowing with clear disdain. “This girl owes me something—an item that rightfully belongs to me. The necklace around her neck.”The room fell silent as all eyes turned to Tania with full attention. My expression hardened, and my wolf growled softly in my mind. ‘This girl’s arrogance knows no bounds.’ She snapped.I took a deep breath to remain calm, and then I cocked my head and asked, “And how does the necklace Lila is wearing suddenly belong to you, Lady Tania?”Tania straightened, clearly thrilled her plan to humiliate Lila seemed to be working. “Her necklace is a delicate piece, silver with a sapphire pendant. Lila
ISABELLE’S POV The intensity of his sharp look sent a chill down my spine, but I refused to let it show one bit. Instead, I cocked my head at him, arching my eyebrow and maintaining my composure. My wolf didn't stay quiet. ‘Told you meddling in his affairs wouldn’t end well. He seems furious. Are you satisfied now?’ she growled with disapproval.‘He’ll get over it,’ I shot back inwardly, not backing down for a second.Tristan stepped forward, his eyes darting between us, he could already sense the rising tension in the room and let out a light chuckle to diffuse it. “Then let’s forget about it,” he said, dismissing my proposition with a wave of his hand. The crowd began murmuring once again, their tones shifting.“It seems the princess has truly moved on from the Beta,” someone remarked.“Yes, she wouldn’t have proposed it otherwise,” another agreed.Once Matilda stepped away, the crowd eased up and dispersed. Rowan shot me one last look before he also turned around and walked away
ISABELLE’S POVThe murmurs instantly ceased, and a line cleared amongst the crowd as they quickly stepped aside for me to walk past all bowing in unison. I walked in with a tiara that accentuated my royal bearing, but as I stepped inside, I could feel Rowan's presence right behind me.I quickened my pace, to put some distance between us, but I could still feel him trailing close behind me, his presence frustratingly too close.I threw a sharp glance over my shoulder, my voice low but firm. “Why must you follow me everywhere?”Rowan smirked, unfazed by my question or my demeanor. “It would be improper for me to distance myself from the princess, don’t you think?”My wolf snickered, clearly irritated by his cockiness.I quickened my pace, determined to shake off the rumours that my entrance with Rowan would soon spark. I could feel the eyes of the crowd boring through us, I knew they would soon start gossiping about us being back together.I needed to escape him so I quickly strode tow
ISABELLE’S POV“You think you belong here?” one of the women at the head of the circle sneered. “With such an ugly dress? Did you sew it yourself?”The circle erupted in laughter. “Honestly, the audacity of some ugly paupers to show up to the palace New Year banquet in nothing but rags.”My blood boiled as I watched the scene unfold. My attention remained fixed on the group gathered near the bushes. At their centre stood a tall slender woman, with dark luscious hair, her voice sharp as she mocked a plainly dressed girl clutching a necklace.“You dare bring this cheap trinket to a royal ball?” she sneered, yanking the necklace from her hands. The girl in the middle held her head up high despite the humiliation and mocking. “That necklace was my mother’s. Please return it,” she asked calmly, although her voice was shaking with emotions. The bully's lips curled into a cruel smile as she held the necklace up with one finger. “Why would I return this trash to you?” She mocked.“Please, d..
ISABELLE’S POVAlan looked away, his voice barely audible. “You are clearly of noble descent. And I'm just a struggling painter trying to make ends meet. We are from very different worlds.”For a moment, I stared at him and didn’t know what to say. Hearing such words from Alan touched me more than I expected.“You’re wrong,” I spat out, my voice sharp and firm. “Alan, you’re one of the most confident, most talented people I have ever met. Our worth isn’t defined by titles or wealth.”Alan’s eyes flicked up to meet mine, and for a moment, there was tense silence between us.I leaned in closer to him, our warm breaths mingling in the air between us. “I don’t care about status or wealth,” I whispered, my voice gentle and tender. “Those things don’t matter to me.”His face turned a deeper shade of crimson, his body trembling beside mine. I giggled softly, and I couldn't resist leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to his cold cheek. Alan froze, his heart pounding loud enough for me to he
ROWAN’S POVShe hesitated for a second, biting her lower lip. “She’s already invited me, hasn't she? Maybe... maybe it’s time I stopped seeing her as my enemy. I don’t think she hates me anymore.”I studied her closely through the mirror, my brows furrowed. Matilda had always been timid, hiding behind others. But deep down, I knew she wasn't a bad person.“Well then, I guess I'll come with you,” I said after a moment.Matilda smiled faintly. “Thank you, Rowan,” she whispered.Despite my calm exterior, I was feeling a strange tension gnawing at me. Something was disturbing me and—it was Isabelle. For some reason I couldn't explain, I also wanted more interactions with her. Ever since she suddenly stopped clinging to me or chasing me, I couldn’t shake the unease I was feeling in my gutIt was as though I lost something without even realizing it.ISABELLE’S POVOnce I left the supermarket, I went straight to Alan’s modest home with the groceries I bought. My mind still wandered briefly
ISABELLE’S POVI turned around, only to find myself face-to-face with Beta Rowan. He had a dark scowl on his face, but his stern expression immediately softened when he saw Matilda still lying helplessly on the floor. Before I could say a single word, she scrambled off the ground and rushed towards him to stand behind his towering figure, clutching his arm and casting a wary glance back at me with an innocent expression.Rowan watched the scene with confusion, his gaze flickering between us. His frown deepened when he looked down at Matilda behind him.“What’s going on here?” Rowan asked, his deep voice filled with concern as he looked between both of us.Matilda, looked up at him with her doe-like eyes, “I-It’s nothing, really. Princess Isabelle was just... pressuring me.” she said, her voice trembling.Rowan's eyes whipped back towards me, a deep frown marrying his features. I could see the questions in his gaze, wondering who to believe.I can't believe Matilda would go as far as l
RYKER’S POVI stared at Isabelle in utter shock, her confident confession hanging heavy in the air between us. Her words were bold and direct, cutting through my usual stoic defences like a sharp blade.“I’m here because of you,” she said and I couldn't get her voice out of my head.It wasn’t just her words but the way she said them—with so much sincerity and brashness—that managed to throw me off balance. For the first time in so many years, I was not sure of how to respond. For a man like me, used to control, logic and order, the raw emotion I could feel in her voice left me almost speechless. My wolf growled, urging me to respond and acknowledge the feelings stirring deep within me. But I just couldn’t, I needed to leave.I was flustered under her prying gaze, my face turning a deep shade of red that spread down my neck.I took a step back, “I... I need to review a case file,” I blurted, stumbling over my words as I quickly retreated.Without waiting for her reply, I spun on my he
